Nicely put. We're big enough to pay good salaries and bad enough that there's an actual pathway into the team.

“Manchester United have reached the promised land” is taking a whole new meaning. Our future CB partnership - Godwill Kukonki & Ayden Heaven
Sort of signing we have to make right now, because players like him could breakthrough within a year and suddenly their transfer value is 10x or more. Better to take the cheap punt now and if it doesn't work out then it's not really any sunk cost. Not really seeing a midfielder in there to be honest. Could be a good wide center back but a bit of a random signing.
I never believed in heavenAyden you’re all that we want,
When the Stratford end is so charmed,
I’m finding it hard to believe,
We signed Heaven.
I’ll get my coat…
Thing is wasn't the reason he did not want to sign with Arsenal because he wants to play CM and they will only let him develop as a CB, now obviously I do not know what discussions Utd have had, what promises made but I would not be surprised if he is here as CM/CDM not CD, which TBH would be great if he has the chops to match the ambitionFrom the 3 minutes i've seen of a youtube compilation, he looks to be stepping on Kukonki's toes for a place in the squads?
Kinda need to stop thinking like this. Providing the player is capable of playing in the role we want from them, we need to bring in as much top talent as possible. From the 3 minutes i've seen of a youtube compilation, he looks to be stepping on Kukonki's toes for a place in the squads?
Yep - same with the previous signing from Arsenal in the summer and the lad from Paraguay this month. Punts like this won’t all come off but you hope one or two will and those that don’t we either get a fee back or there isn’t much lost anyway.Sort of signing we have to make right now, because players like him could breakthrough within a year and suddenly their transfer value is 10x or more. I think the profile for a centre back, and a few other positions, will be a bit different under Amorim though. Obviously there's a knock on there for our own youth set-up as well which has a lot of quality right now that's tailored to a 4-2-3-1 formation that the first team no longer plays. Some of the kids who looked nailed on for promotion look like awkward fits now.By the way, as a club, we have really struggled to produce top class centre backs through the academy probably ever since Marin Keown & Tony Adams.
If you are looking for a top class centre back, should probably raid Chelsea, not Arsenal!

Exactly. Having more competition is a good thing. Plus there's no guarantee they get to the required level.Kinda need to stop thinking like this. Providing the player is capable of playing in the role we want from them, we need to bring in as much top talent as possible.
Some will miss out.
Evans and Lindelof are out of contract in the summer. There's space in the squad for both if they prove they are good enough. From the 3 minutes i've seen of a youtube compilation, he looks to be stepping on Kukonki's toes for a place in the squads?
Not if we sell the young players many fans are losing patience with at the moment. We have been loading up on promising youths for a while now, they could really kick off in about 2 years - good thing we all have plenty of patience left
This is an Arsenal fan's perspective - with the proviso that he was already being linked to United at the time so he might be a bit peeved.

If that’s a real quote it’s absolutely brilliant all roundWorryingly, he must be the only player ever to lose to Hojlund in a duel…also Arteta may need glasses (from a pre season game in the US)
Impressed afterwards, Arteta said: "I don’t know how many players are able to do that on a stage like this [at his age],. "He’s lost a duel against [Rasmus Hojlund], one of the strongest and fastest players in the world, it can happen
He doesn't need glasses he just needs to sign him off us!If that’s a real quote it’s absolutely brilliant all round
"Shiiiiit. Is that the 'Your mum's on benefits' guy?"he’s going to get a shock day one when he realises our training is a lot of just standing about and joking with rashford, instead of just practicing corners.
Thanks for reminding me of that, now I feel a little more ill"Shiiiiit. Is that the 'Your mum's on benefits' guy?"

I have no personal knowledge of him and just saw that H account on twitter interacting with someone who purported to know his game. That's a terrible take in every respect - way too harsh on his defensive abilities, way too bullish on his ball playing.
Probably some 17-year-old tweeting from his mother's basement.
It's a nice thought in theory but ultimately rooted in a superficial view of what happens when we pass on. It's more likely that our consciousness ceases to be when our brain stops woek8ng.What’s your own view of Heaven?

What's his best position: central defense or midfield?
The Arsenal fans I know tell me that he is leaving Arsenal because he wants to play in the midfield but Arteta sees him as a CB. Whereas, a tweet I read here mentioned that we are getting him for the first team as a back-up for Martinez.
What's the truth?
Tbh the wide CBs in Amorim's system are supposed to go into midfield pretty often. Just looking at how Licha has been playing recently. Maybe that's something that persuaded him too?Thing is wasn't the reason he did not want to sign with Arsenal because he wants to play CM and they will only let him develop as a CB, now obviously I do not know what discussions Utd have had, what promises made but I would not be surprised if he is here as CM/CDM not CD, which TBH would be great if he has the chops to match the ambition

With 3 in the back, he'll be less exposed in our system. Maybe that's what convinced him to move here?
From the Manchester Evening NewsIf that’s a real quote it’s absolutely brilliant all round
Actually, that was my question. The tweet from academyscoop said we are getting him as a back up for Martinez. You also mention that he is a CB prospect. However, a couple of my buddies told me he played midfield for the youth teams and didn't like when Arteta tried to convert him into a CB for the first team. The reason he is leaving Arsenal is to play in the midfield.I think he’s a talented but raw CB prospect that needs games more than anything else, probably another season at U21 level or a couple loans.
I don’t think he has the technical level to play in midfield for a big club, and maybe not the agility either. He’s a bit of a unit. But you can see how he could be a good CB prospect with the physical attributes plus decent enough ball playing ability and being left footed never hurts either. The issue with him at CB at youth level since the position switch has been his decision making and penchant for a mistake. The one way to see if he irons that out is for him to get lots of game time but not at first team level yet, st least not for a club like United.
