Australian Open 2010

Well that shot was ridiculous, tight shot from Cilic sending Murray very wide and he's virtually off the court when he hooks it back inside the line. Then he holds for love.

Good lord Murray is playing well, Cilic has him pegged back with a couple of powerful forehands and when he comes into the net for the kill Murray hits one right down his throat and he can't do anything about it. 40-40 on Cilic serve.

Murray is really punishing Cilic's second serves, this one is too short and Murray keeps it low and all Cilic can do is slam it into the net for a break point... which he duly takes. This could be over soon Murray leads 4-1.

Double break for Murray with some power hitting and thats it for Cilic looks like the previous 5 setters have finally caught up to him like i thought it might. Come on Murray concentrate and serve this out

Murray now serving for the match:

The old 1-2 inside then out for 15-0. Cilic replies with a winner to make it 15-15 and then his a beauty at an impossible angle but Murray somehow drags it back and up the line to make it 30-15. Murray comes back with some great returns and then charges the net to hit a drop shot to make it 40-15. And it's over! Murray is in the final! Now come on Tsonga do us a favour and knock out Federer.

Need a clip of that impossible point that they were raving about on the radio. Annoyingly I wasn't watching it but it sounded like an awsome shot.

The way Murray is playing i dont think he cares who he faces, as he now has the game to just go into the final and give it his best. As last time he faced Federer, if he gets through, he had played a 2 day match versus Nadal in the US Open which was draining at that time for Murray. Since then Murray has worked on his fitness, his game and it will be a completely different final whoever faces Murray who has a good chance if he plays to his best.

He's got a good break before the final this time, so he should be relatively fresh. It'll be interesting to see how he does. He's still got a good record against Federer of course.

Federer is brilliant, but we've seen that he can be beaten even on the biggest occassions (last US Open final) - and that Murray has the ability to beat him. I just hope Andy brings out his best tennis. If he does, he's got a brilliant chance. I love the progress he has made, always adding to his game.

It's a bit mad mate. They're having a rally on the baselines when one of Cilic's shots hits the net and bounces just over, Murray races to it, just reaches it and scoops it back to Cilic who hits one to Murray's left. He volley's one back to Cilic who hits another even more powerful one at him, Murray manages to throw himself at it and it just goes over the net again! Cilic then hits a lob and Murray chases it down, on the swivel smashes it back where it came from taking Cilic completely unawares and it flies past him.

I'm sure a video will come up somewhere.

Well done Andy, after just dropping off it he finished quite strong

However, Federer's a different proposition entirely. If he 'drops' off like that at ll he'll get hammered and find himself two sets down in no time. He's got to play his best game ever imo and put Fed under pressure right from the off so that a bit of doubt creeps into his mind and then he might have a chance

Fed's the strong favourite for me but if he's a bit off his game and Andy really gets into him Andy has a chance

C'mon Andy

Watching it again, apart from the gormless face, it's quite Cantona-esque. Standing perfectly still as the applause pours down.

Agreed, thats what I told my brother and whipped up the goal on youtube.

I love the lad, silent cockiness and a game that is only getting better... Having been a supporter of his since 2007 this is def a proud moment for us Murray-supporters who have stuck by him, but the job is not done.

Ok that's pretty special, it's actually under net height is that allowed?, i was watching it on a terrible quality video and missed the replay. I thought he'd missed by his reaction to start with

What i was thinking, although was a supreme effort.

perhaps just sick of his fecking mother popping up on every tv and radio show there is?... i know i am

Is it that bad over there? I remember his rise to status in 2008 when I was in England for a week and it was huge, but when he lost nobody seemed to care.

Tim Henman part 2 they called him... British when he's winning, Scottish when he's losing, etc.

I thought that was gone and done with but apparently not.

his mum is a bit of a media whore... fair play to him he has progressed so much... but i could do without his mum giving about 20 interviews a day to the bbc

I'm starting to really like the guy. He has a very dry sense of homour which is fantastic, and just overall seems like a top lad. Love his interviews with Courier after the matches

His mum's a cnut. As for him, I didn't used to like him, but he's grown on me in the past couple of years. I rememeber reading a story about how while he was training in Miami, a bunch of Brits turned up to watch him. There was some sort of heavy storm, and he invited them all into his apartment for dinner as they were only down for the day to see him. Probably not too many players would do that, in fairness.
