I can't see all 3 leaving. With how thin and weak our midfield is, the last thing we want to do is sell more.

Cleverley can still be a good squad player, save him for those easy FA Cup/League Cup matches against lesser opposition and relegation opponents. One of Fellaini and Anderson will leave.

If they go they'll be replaced. One midfielder in already, probably one more major signing in that position to come - and no CL league to worry about for midweek games either.

The ever reliable Andy Mitten has stated that we are interested in Vidal, Hummels and Di Maria with Hummels being the prime target. Hope he is right

Oh sweet Jesus if we end up signing Vidal, Hummels AND Di Maria I'll probably wank myself to an early death.

Vidal, Herrera, Carrick, Cleverley/Fletcher vying for 2 midfielder spots with Mata, Kagawa and Rooney able to play in the third... it's a strong midfield if you ask me.

That will be comfortably the best window ever, by anyone if that happens. No way in hell, but let's hope.

EDIT: Forgot about Madrid in 2009, but you could argue the case for either i think.

Contact made between United and Juve. Juve publicly saying no is just for show.

I bet he saw my thread.

With Shaw and Herrera already in and Van Gaal as our manager  I'd genuinely put us down as favourites for the league if we signed all them, especially without European distractions.

Yeah, I'd keep Cleverley. He's no world beater but it seems most have brushed a couple of good seasons under the carpet because he had a shocker last season. Loves the club, a decent squad player and is much better than he showed last season.

Fellaini is probably off, Anderson definitely. Fletcher and Cleverley won't play much but it's good to have British lads from the academy in reserve.

Imagine a midfield three with Herrera, Vidal and Mata, supporting RVP, Adnan and Di Maria upfront  Woody has gone full muppet mode!

That wouldn't even work, our midfield would get cut open. If we are playing a 4-3-3, we would need a proper defensive/holding midfielder to support Herrara and Mata. Putting a B2B midfielder like Vidal there who is better marauding up the pitch and scoring goals would be odd

I dare say this is getting me hotter than that redhead you posted the other day.

I think Carrick could do the job in a 3 man midfield, the problem he has comes when we try and get him to do the donkey work required with just 2 cms. Pirlo would struggle in a 2 man midfield yet he has Pogba and Vidal running for him. Certainly don't think we need to go out and buy Carvalho, at least not this summer.

Have you watched Vidal play football before?

If we sign just one of those 3 - it will still have been a very good transfer window

Well said. And training with the new boys every day will only improve them

I think Herrera and Vidal could work in the middle, but I agree that LVG will look for a more defensive stable option to cover our back four. Carrick, Herrera and Mata seems best balanced ATM with our available options. With Vidal coming in (big if), we would move Mata out wide.

How is he going to play in a 4-3-3 with 2 advanced midfielders ahead of him, when he is a box-to-box and is a greater threat near the goal? He is arguably the best B2B midfielder in the world, so that is the role in which we should play him as. Just because he is extremely good defensively that doesn't mean that a restricted CDM/holding position is his role. It is someone like Carrick or Busquets who would fit that well, not Vidal.

Herrera is box to box aswell. The could easily take it in turns. What is it the Dutch say.... Total football.

Depends on the formation of the 4-3-3 really. It's like saying that Keane couldn't play in a 4-3-3. You can make these players work in such a situation.

I love how we could be signing two of the most all round midfielders on the market - Herrera and Vidal - yet all people can do is make up situations in which they wouldn't work. It's mental.

Maybe LVG is thinking along the lines of Carrick, Herrera and Vidal until January and we possibly make a move for Strootman to then replace Carrick. Complete muppet bollocks I know...

Mitten once again confirms our interest in Vidal.

Now I'm waiting for the next feckwit who couldn't bother to read to come here and say 'eh Are we even interested or are you muppets just..." bitch shut yo trap fo I slap ya

How are people even contemplating the idea that Herrera and Vidal wouldn't work behind Mata. Its madness.

Getting either Di Maria or Vidal would make us insanely good in CM (if Carrick gets back to decent form) compared to recent seasons... it's either

Carrick
Herrera – Di Maria

or

Carrick
Herrera – Vidal

or

Herrera - Vidal
Mata

Di Maria has proven he can be excellent on the left of a midfield three, I think LVG would utilize him in exactly that way if we get him, but not Vidal.

This would be fecking awesome!

If we got Di Maria we'd be mad not to play him on the wing. Kagawa, Rooney and Mata are all central players, yet out wide we're a disaster.

Bloody hell man sources! Your vagueness is not welcome!
Andy Mitten's Playup video posted in the Twitter thread. As for Juve's public refusal to sell, no one should take what clubs publicly say as gospel. Barca were saying a few weeks ago that Sanchez wasn't for sale.

Doubt it because we have some great number 10's in the side. I think we'll certainly play with an attacking midfielder behind Van Persie.

How are people even contemplating the idea that Herrera and Vidal wouldn't work behind Mata. Its madness.

That's a little too far, it's certainly not madness. Vidal constantly pushes up, he breaks forward and presses high up the pitch. He isn't naturally a holding midfielder, so it's not that surprising some people are questioning it.

We'll sell Anderson and I'd say there's a 70% chance of keeping both Fellaini and Celverley unless we sign two more CMs.
