Vidal, but I reckon it'll be Strootman. Much younger and Van Gaal knows him well.

Strootman. If he recovers fully from the knee injury (a la Ruud). Knows LVG, knows his system, younger too, likely to be on lesser wages/lower fee.
Of course, knowing Ed, he could just go full muppet in January and try to sign both.
Still makes me laugh how everyone seems to think that Roma (May still be in the CL) will want to lose one of their best players mid season. We'd have to seriously overpay to get him then
