tbf, everywhere reported a £200m WAR CHEST!!!!

Vidal+Blind would take it to like £180m. Not far off. £20m left for a CB at some point, and I'm assuming that's LVG's money for 3 years or so unless some miracle working brings the CL.

Lets keep the dream alive. Cleverly bid accepted from Villa, His number is 23. Vidal's number at Juventus is.....

Can't see it happening lads. Obviously been put off by his Knee, but I personally would take that risk.
Proven quality!

We don't want Blind.

I highly doubt that at this stage. Who thought we'd blow 130m so far in this window, and 60m on 1 player? Nobody thought we'd do that, not even the optimistic muppets. Anything's possible at this stage. We're desperate and the board know that.
Woodward bullshits about no limits to the budget. But obviously there must be a ceiling. I'm sure Van Gaal would spend another 200m if he could though.

Vidal 23  clearly part of his agreement to join.

reading this in the Mirror. If this is the reason we have not signed him, we never will.

The Old Trafford club want a pay-as-you-play deal for Vidal due to concerns about his right knee

Makes sense though. If he knee goes out, his career at the top level is likely done, and we will be dealing with another Hargreaves.

His knee fecks the transfer up. Otherwise we would have a world class CM. There is always something disturbing us from getting one.

I suppose it could be argued that he's saying that having gotten to such a late stage of the window ("at this point") he won't be leaving rather than saying "right now I'm not leaving" ie that could change.

I don't know why I even bothered doing that. It's like looking for a deeper meaning in a Nickleback song.

Chad Kroeger. He's like the Fellaini of rock music...

Wonder if a 6 month loan leading to a permanent deal is out of the question :smirk:

Just a tip. There's no correlation between how active this thread is and whether or not we're signing Vidal.
But there is correlation between how much behind the scenes activity there is when a transfer is taking place and the media reporting it. And the more the media reports something in regards to a transfer, the more active that thread usually is....

I don't agree with this at all. The media reports all sorts of rumour bollocks to sell papers and get clicks on Twitter and web pages. We've seen this time and time again from Ozil to Sneijder to Hazard and beyond. I do agree that we are interested in Vidal, just not that more stories on Vidal or more bumps of this thread is evidence we are buying him.

All I know s we need a CM of high quality or we are fecked! I think if Vidal never played in the World Cup he would have been fully recovered and would be a UTD player by now!

We have gone wrong about our business again as we should have made sure we get our defence and CM sorted before any other position but we just shot our load on Di Maria who is a fantastic player but we need to sort the backbone of the squad out before the flash...

My dad told me we'd agreed a deal for Vidal just now, i got my phone out and couldn't see anything on here. He said he saw it on Yahoo eurosport.com, which cites the express.

How can they not be held accountable for the bullshit they print?

For the longest time, I have wanted this transfer to go through but if we buy him and he can't play at full strength for a few weeks then that would set us back a bit. If the club knows for sure that Vidal isn't ready to play major minutes then I would rather get a CM in right now who can and reassess in January.

"This is a real quote" but without having an actual quote. Just a paraphrase of what he supposedly said behind closed doors.

Marotta: "I don't think he'll leave us..." . Hardly sounds definitive.

I'd like to sign Vidal but given the cash the club has splashed on players in the last 6 months, I don't think we can say that we are afraid to pay big fees when we want to. So if this deal is not happening, it's because either Juve just wanted way, way too much or there are genuine concerns over his knee. Either way, I think we can be relieved it hasn't happened in those circumstances.

If he can be got at the right price, then I'm all for it. At this point half of me wants us to sign him just to see the reaction of Omid Zamani. Surely one of the biggest losers on the internet.

This will be dead only on 2nd of September when he'll either be a United player or still Juve player. It's up in the air till then.

Surpassed the Sneijder thread for the most foreplay without an end result. Roll on Monday...

@ Tweet #1: Why still no direct comment to the media from Vidal then?
@ Tweet #2: So why did his agent spend all of Tuesday at United discussing terms and fly to Italy yesterday and make the negotiations for the rejected €43m offer on United's behalf? … either this was all done behind Vidal's back or it's exactly the same as saying "I want a move"!
