Arturo Vidal

Think this is a sign that we're backing out of the deal as British media have stated. He is not fit yet after 2 and a half months from the end of the world cup it is extremely risky to bring him in.

Depends on how you read signs. Could be that Juve feel that it would be inappropriate to train with a Manchester United player.

Excuses keep coming in about why we haven't signed him 1) knee 2) money 3) Juve want replacements before they sell 4) we were never in for him at all.

If Madrid are interested in him it rules out no.1. The story keeps changing it's not happening so i think no.4 is more likely.

di Maria didn't train with Real before he signed for us either.

It's now super ON!

If we don't hear anything concrete today, I doubt this will happen unless we've been entrenched in negotiations for a while with little more than i's to dot and t's to cross, then it could go right up to deadline day.

I doubt the latter is what's happening as I'm sure Juve would shout from the rooftops if we were locked in negotiation with them so that a potential bidding war could take place, or at the least, so any other party that would like the player could potentially hijack the bid.

Madrid selling Alonso is the worst news possible in relation to Vidal, too. They're known admirers and if Perez makes any overtures to Vidal, we're out of the running (if we were ever interested).

If Vidal's knee was still playing him up, no chance would he have been training and playing matches recently. He may have missed training through illness instead, but I have no doubt's his knee is now OK.

Sorry for the post bomb (and I was warned to take it easy as a new convert) but something struck me that might help:

A pinned thread of trusted sources (or at least one for banned rumours from non-trusted sources) might help to weed out the WUM and gossip from the fact-based comments.

A Carvalho/Vidal double signing would take us to another level.

That is actually the first best 11 that would work that I have seen posted. Give or take a few swaps in certain positions but on the whole, yeah, I like it.

no 1 and 2 for me. We wouöd take him for 30m, but 45 or whatever they want is probably just too risky with his knee problems. No 4 is practically impossible.

I think the prices banded about now are a reflection on how well the club has played this saga this summer.

In January or even at the start of the summer , if you'd have said Vidal to United you'd have seen figures if at least £50m talked about, even as much as £60m+. Now as we near the window closing it's £35m.

Hard to say whether that's because of shrewd negotiation tactics or no-one having a clue what's going on as suspected. If we got him for anything under 40m then it's a steal though.

Sounds plausible, but when's the last time the Mirror broke an accurate story?

Don't think I've ever heard of a top player signing a pay-as-you-play contract. Sounds a bit made up. Like player exchange deals.

I have noticed a lot of Madrid rumors on Twitter. Well as usual with us, it would only be our own fault if we lose out on him.

Why would a top player give up a (presumably) guaranteed income from his contract with Juventus to take the risk of getting injured in his first game for us and not getting paid for however long? It doesn't make sense.

That's article is utter bullshit. This is Vidal not Fletcher.

i know, too good to be true. We should decide Vidal or Carvalho, i am just happy that the window closes in a few days. Otherwise we still wouldnt decide which player we want to buy.

Very plausible indeed, one of the best midfielders in the world coming to a side out of CL to play on pay as you play deal.

4.5 days left. Kind of excited to see what we do next. Incoming and deadwood. Would of thought more players would of left by now. We either aren't going to do much more in or out or it's going to be mental on Sunday and Monday

I would think that such a deal would not apply to a new injury. That could lead to some disagreement down the road as to whether something is caused by the previous injury, but only if it pertains to that same knee. I can't imagine that the contract would have him not get paid if he dislocates his shoulder.

Is there anything in the Falcao to Juve rumors (been mentioned a few times on the Juve forum)? I seriously doubt they'd be able to pay his transfer fee / wages without selling Vidal.

I'd be really surprised if we get him now. Although it does appear as though we're trying given LVG's comments and the fact we seem to have briefed the press regarding Carvalho. There doesn't seem any point in briefing the press about that, given we've kept quiet all summer about all our targets, unless it's being used as a negotiating tactic. Maybe just wishful thinking though!

Well Juve are in hot pursuit for Hernandez signature, now this is a massive oppotunity now to open the Vidal talks and make some kind of an exchange for both player.

Yep. The Michael Owen comparison doesn't hold water. He didn't have a club and was looking at signing for a bottom half team when Fergie stepped in with the pay as you play offer.

I'd believe what some of my 6 year old Japanese students say about United signings before any of the crap papers.
Kaori and Ayaka said that we're not signing Vidal and will wait for Strootman.
