Now the knee problem seems to be the worry,if we are not so sure about his knee problem why should we go after him.
Even he come backs from his present problem, will he able to perform to his old level?

Welcome, what were your general thoughts on Kagawa? I'm only asking because in the match day threads a lot of newbs are unbearable on the subject ;)

Thanks, it was just another Kagawa thread which inevitably became a Kagawa versus Mata thread (as they always seem to). My point was Mata does more at the sharp end basically so he deserves the place in the team ahead of Kagawa. Usual stuff really.

It would be a disaster if he ended up like Hargreaves but even with one working knee he's better than Fletcher and Cleverley combined.

Hell retired Hargreaves is more useful that Fletcher and Cleverley combined.

Looks like we might be turning our attention to Carvalho instead, judging by the recent tweets by journalists. Hmmm tbh I would prefer Carvalho as I think he would be more compatible for the team but it's not like with Vidal our team will get heavily unbalanced. Just think Carvalho provides better balance.

So who do you prefer, Vidal or Carvalho? Provided we play a midfield trio of Herrera, Di Maria and one of the two.

Vidal for me. He is arguably the best midfielder in the world. And he sets a high tempo which is really exciting to watch.

I think a recognised holding, defensive minded midfield player would be the way to go.

I agree, I think a player like Carvalho would give us a more balanced midfield. I think you really have to play Vidal as an "8" to get the most out of him. Would hardly be complaining if we signed Vidal though!

Having said that I know next to nothing about Carvalho, this is more regarding the type of player we need more. Obviously Vidal is a world class player and could no doubt do the job, but you don't use a guy who can score 20 from midfield as a "defense shield". You build around that kind of player.

Vidal is a big dick. If we don't get Vidal we need to find another big dick. Someone who can run the game from midfield. The old saying "The best defense is a good offense" is BS when it comes to football. It should be, "the best defense is a good midfield". Our midfield is under gunned and has been so for a few seasons now. Midfield drives the team and controls the impetus of a match.

We need a big dick.

Your obsession with big dicks is worrying.

Not going well downstairs for you?

Vidal isn't just a great player he is the type of midfield leader we have lacked for a long time, regardless of Carvalho I hope we go all in to get Vidal.

Hargo as a player I like him, even Fletcher for that matter.
But cleverly as to go.May be he would be better for other teams.
IMO its better to go with Carvalho than Vidal. My worry on him is inexperience but I hope under LVG he would develop into a brilliant player.
Its time for club to deside and got limited time to do it.

So basically Guarin's Agent has told Gazetta that his client is waiting for an offer from Juve which they think is incoming, interesting....

£35m + Hernandez surely amounts to their asking price if thats to be believed?

Ill pay them straight away.

If it appearance based add-ons then yes I wouldn't mind paying it. Straight up paying that amount is a huge risk and I would be against it. There are still question marks concerning his knee especially considering we haven't seen him play since the World Cup.

I would love him at the club but something like 35 straight up and the remaining 15 in add ons would be the ideal bid imo from our perspective. Whether Juve would do the deal or not is upto them. I believe the player though is interested in moving to us and that should ideally put us in a strong position. If Juve don't accept the deal, well then fair enough.

I apologize I hadn't seen it. But I believe it was a 45 min stint? Don't you think that's hardly enough to judge whether he's fully fit?I believe we are understandably being cautious with this. (We must have learnt our lessons from the Hargreaves saga)

Yes, it was a 45min stint.

It's either you take the risk on a proven world class performer like Vidal or take a risk on a up and coming player with alot of potential in Carvalho. I think we're gonna sign one or the other to be honest.

Juventus would be nuts to sell us Vidal to get Guarin as his replacements. Talk about replacing a Ferrari with a Fiat Punto.
Not much time left in the window and i've read that Allegri is a admirer of Guarin.

A few more details from the Gazetta article from Laudisa

Today's #gds says Vidal's agent submitted Utd bid (which is probably the reason why he was in Manchester on Tuesday & yesterday in Milano).

This is the reason I think we will sign him

Alarming Signs that Vidal's future is in doubt: the player's silence is not a good sign, it's clear, he could have easily denied everything!

I haven't really checked up on rumours or anything similar since last night. And it seemed pretty on last night. Is it safe to say those particular rumours were garbage, or is it still as on as it was yesterday?

It is a hard choice to make. For the amounts mentioned I would probably prefer a proven player but others might differ. I wouldn't mind Carvalho but to me the issue with him (atleast the way I see it) is him not being so mobile. That's really the only concern for me. Otherwise he seems like a physical specimen and wouldn't get bulldozed off the ball.

I think it's been the same as it has for months now - no one has a pissing clue what's going on, including the journos.

True that, but there seems to have been some genuine hype yesterday. Seems to have faded out into nothing, which is making me real pessimistic.
