Arturo Vidal

I've read somewhere we want to have a performance based fee with Juve...

If so I'd offer Hernandez and £20m rising to £30m after certain amount of games etc. Potentially a 40 to 45 million pound deal (depending on how much we value Chicarito) would be hard for them to turn down though plus they have signed several midfielders already this window.
This is so on after LvG name drop and it would really seal Woodwards legacy if he can pull this off. From complete tit to greatness in a matter of days.

Vidal is a better midfielder than Di Maria is a winger.

Bit of an unnecessary comparison baring in mind Di Maria played 99% of last season in CM and may do so again with us.

Hmm i wonder if this is whats actually happening behind the scenes and thats why this has seemed to drag on for so long.

Well he played a hybrid role and if he comes here I think it's unlikely he'll play in the middle next to Herrera, as that seems too offensive. The point was really that Vidal is better at what he does, there isn't a more complete midfielder in the world.

Vidal has been the best midfielder in europe for a while now. Of course he is worth more than Di Maria.

But the market is not regulated by how good you are ALONE, there are many other factors as well... we have plenty of examples out there so its not something that need to be explained or discussed.

That's a tough one to call I think. I think Vidal is essential to United and more-so than Di Maria. I'm not being negative in any way, I LOVE the Di Maria signing but I think Midfield was more of a priority. But I'm sure LvG will do something about it. I just hope It's Vidal and his knee isn't as bad as everyone is saying. It would make sense why Juve have obviously wanted to sell him though.

But my original point was that Di Maria is worth more on the football market because of his star status and the position he plays in. Wingers/attackers/flair players always go for more money.

Woody's already bagged a 8/10 bird for the night and hopefully he's feeling confident enough to approach the 9/10 worldie and ask for a threesome. Go on Woody

After paying £60m for Di Maria, Juve would be mental to not jack up the price. He's worth more than Di Maria, and they have less cause to sell.

Thing is Real are rich and Perez is a shrewd business man they were never letting one of their best players go cheap after spending ridiculous amounts on Bale and Rodriguez. Juventus are not great financially and may need to sell to avoid worrying times, they would rather keep Pogba as he will no doubt be a Real player one day and pocket them a lot of money, Vidal is 27 so his value will only decrease. They have signed quite a few players already but are now being linked with loans only. I think we throw in Hernandez and cash they will bite, I still think they want Vidal to pipe up first so the club doesn't look the villain. It's cat and mouse and I'd probably say it's 50/50. But I'm confident. Blind will cost £20m according to reports, I'd rather double that on a player that is on Di Maria's level. Of course an extensive medical would need to be passed first but I'm sure he will be fine. My muppet dream rolls on.....

But their finances are different though. They can jack price up a few million but they ran the risk of missing out on a big payment from us if we feel the risk is too high. Would they rather than get £40m or try and push to £50m and get nothing? Their finances dictate that they take the £40m or whats reasonably offered.

All summer I would've agreed. After the first two games, I don't. Di Maria is exactly what we need.
Very true. We still need that extra oomph in the final third, quite incredible when you assess it's probably the strongest area of our squad.

They do, but in saying that you see less transfers of world class central midfielders because there seems to be less of them knocking about. In terms of just wingers and not number 10's, Ronaldo, Bale, Ribery, Robben and Reus are at a similar or better level than Di Maria, whereas IMO Vidal is the best of that dominant box to box type since Vieira.

The last time we signed somebody, we followed it up with another signing within 24 hours. We go again?

We didn't sign someone right after Rojo.
Well, now I feel like an idiot. Maybe we're alternating. Last time we didnt so this time we will. Are there any more straws for me to clutch at?

I'd say so. I don't think LvG is letting Welbeck leave because he wants to keep Hernandez. I just think with the signing of Di Maria and already having Mata, Januzaj and Kagawa to play behind RVP and Rooney he believes our midfield will provide more than enough goals to substitute the relatively poor return by Welbeck and Hernandez.
His Dutch team always plays with one out an out forward just like most of the best teams in Europe so I can see us playing something similar. The Mexico manager has been praising Juventus of late so I'm sure there's something going on, just the knee issue and fee being the main issues. I'm not buying any of the 'there has been no contact stories' I'd wager there have been several discussions already.

Yeah, I totally see your point. That is sincerely hight praise comparing him to Viera too.

I don't think anyone can doubt that.

But I still think Vidal would've probably been a more suitable signing.

I certainly doubt that. I've probably seen Vidal play a bit more than I've seen Di Maria, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

Obviously Di Maria is world class, but Vidal is comfortably the best player in his position in the world, in my opinion.

I see what you mean, but it's not like they get nothing by keeping him. They'll hardly be disappointed in having to keep their best player, and if they ever needed to sell, they'll have plenty of clubs lining up for him.

di Maria has enjoyed the better season in which he contributed a hell of a lot to the champions of Europe and World Cup finalists. As of now, di Maria is the better player than Vidal. No doubt in my mind. Vidal won't go for £60 million.

If they want to be stagnant in terms of competing for Europe, then they can keep Vidal but if they want to invest and get better sometimes you have to make sacrifices unless they are getting a sugar daddy soon. Serie A is pretty much guaranteed for them. AS Roma is the only other team I can see. Napoli might be there and about but they don't have the inconsistency. Its Europe they should be aiming for. I mean even we made it to the QF's last two years with a sub par team. Juventus haven't made it thus far.

You can look at it that way in terms of lacking pace there from our starters but then i was watching City play today and they had a even slower team on average than us and i thought why can't we play like that ? And then it comes down to midfield.

I dunno, watching Liverpool and City tonight there appeared to be a hell of a lot more purposeful passing with intent to us, this was occurring in the final third from their advanced players and not their midfield. The likes of Valencia and Young saw plenty of the ball on Sunday, they just lacked the quality to do anything of note with it.

If they want to progress in Europe, then keeping their best players is a very good way of going about it. Bearing in mind they'd have a matter of hours to reinvest, we would have very little negotiating power.

I wouldn't have thought we had any chance of signing Vidal, but some backwards logic has convinced me that spending £60m on one player makes it more likely that we'll go and do it again in the same window.

What can we, RedCafe do to expedite this transfer?
Play it cool like the Di Maria thread?
More Teddy More!!
