The only problem with that is that people would have to find a new scapegoat as it would be hard to fault ed if we get them all.

Pretty sure Messi was said more tongue in cheek. He did not need to mention Vidal though...but he is a player we definitely need.

I think he mentioned Vidal because he's not a dimwit and knows that a lot of fans want him. I doubt he was hinting that we're going to buy him, sadly, but more making a message to the fans that he can't get Vidal for whatever reason at the moment. Still holding out hope, though.
Did he play the full 90 mins? I watched the first 30 odd mins and he looked pretty good considering his just got back from injury.
I saw the Juve v. Milan 45' only, but given that the TIM trophy follows a sort of a round robin format where all three teams play 45 minutes against each other, I doubt he'd have played much of the second 45 regardless of whether he'd been returning from injury or not.
The way I see it is LvG is DEFINITELY not a stupid man. Juve have stayed firm on saying they do not want to sell and Arturo is happy at Juve. LvG has called him out. He has basically said to Arturo "you want to join me and Manchester United, you tell me so" he has put the ball firmly in Vidals court. Many have reported saying United only want targets that want to come to us. It's so obvious and it cannot be interpreted any other way. What would happen if Vidal put in a transfer request now? Would LvG suddenly say he didn't want him? Either that or LvG is just on a mission to create internet meltdown and is a bigger muppet than everyone else put together.

Not spending £40-50 mil on this guy after the Di Maria buy. Looks like we went for Di Maria over Vidal. I just hope we have other midfield targets lined up before the window closes.

But this superstar only solves one of the problems we have and not the main problem. Not getting Vidal is going to hurt because he is a readymade solution to our midfield crisis.

LVG name checked Di Maria in the same manner a few weeks ago....Van Gaal is extremely savvy and knows what he is doing... that was no coincidence.
I think LVG has been biding his time till he was sure Vidal's knee was ok but now its on.... maybe the reason he hasn't bought Blind/De Jong in yet was because he was waiting to see whats up with Vidal first?

Mate there aint time to enjoy shit. He's just one player. Now if we can add a world class CM and a CB to Shaw, Herrera and Di Maria i'm putting us down as favourites. Hell I'd even advocate a net spend of zero in next summers window just to pay off some debt!
He name dropped Vidal along with Messi and Di Maria saying they're players he likes but we can't always get them. And he did it TWICE in the space of a few minutes.
Keep in mind he name dropped di Maria in a similar fashion a week ago and boom were signing him all of a sudden.
