Arturo Vidal

Not really, was it just a coincidence that at 6:15pm this ITK posted that tweet when LVG just done two interviews at 6pm mentioning Vidal?

Maybe it was a response to van Gaal making such a public statement, and him linking up this bit of news with something he got told earlier on in the summer. I don't think he was trying to take ITK credit on the spot there.

You don't believe the poker commentator/ Radio DJ?

Oh ye of little faith.
I know right?!

I think Vidal will come to United after LVG basically done the same stunt with naming dropping Di Maria (but done it twice with Vidal, pre planned I say). However, I will dispute the reliability of ITKs on twitter. This radio host has just been found out in my opinion, choose to believe him if you will but I won't.

You realise Emmet Kennedy was the ITK that called van Persie to United four days before it happened? Kennedy has remained adamant about Vidal all summer.

The first time he mentioned his name was Vidal and Messi. What did he say the second instance?
He basically re-worded it in order to make it more believable. He definitely rehearsed that line of Vidal and Messi before the interviews.

People on here can't spot the difference between the two interviews, but I can. In the second interview he said "not only Di Maria", meaning there is another person he will bring i.e "Messi or Vidal" Although it was tongue and cheek statement, he knows we will not get Messi, so through process of elimination Vidal is the one we will buy.

My God what a week it would be to land two world class players! Would solve two of our problems with the wing and midfield. A central defender can wait I guess. Its just that injuries are fecking killing us.

Tom fecking Cleverley to Arturo Vidal...

Pinch me
Shhh...don't tell nobody

I love it.

Feckin' 'ell, if we get both Di Maria AND Vidal good god I don't know what I'll do. Still, there would be a lot of work to do on the squad even if sucha dream scenario should occur.

I do. You realise he's a DJ/ Poker commentator from Cork? Where is he getting his info? From a source at the club? Then why has he only called one transfer ever? Or is there a connection between the RVP transfer and the potential Vidal transfer that means he has a source involved in only these two transfers?

Edit: Of course, I'd love him to be right. I'm just not going to get excited over a few tweets from a random person on twitter.

He responded to a question from a reporter asking him if Woodward had told him already if the Di Maria transfer was finialised. He said I can't talk about this, because it is the club that makes the announcement, if we feel the time is right to make a signing than we will come to you and announce if we have signed this or that player. Than the reporter asked him wheter he likes Di Maria or not and wants him to sign for United. LVG answers by saying, yes I like him, but I also like Messi and Vidal, there are alot of players that I like in the world and they can't always come to Manchester United.

Now in my humble opnion you can read 2 things in this:
1: Di maria is coming and signing an announcement will happen in next couple of days maybay even hours. The reason why is because he doesn't dismiss it, he also knows the rumours and if they were premmature or false he would have put them to bed. Instead of that he goes on to say he can't make the announcement because the club makes the announcement. Which is the same for me as saying, yes he is coming but I won't be the one making it official to you because it is the club that wants to make the announcement at a time of their chosing on the website.

2: A slight hint that Vidal is NOT coming. The reason is because he mentions him in his list of players that he likes but can't/won't be signing for United. Now this doesn't nesc have to mean he is specficaly denying the Vidal rumours, as he might just mean to say, look I like alot of players but they can't all sign for us, but why then specfically mention Vidal, I mean everybody gets Messi as an example of a player that every coach wants but nobody can get him, but why Vidal ? Surely if he just wants to emphise the point we can't sign all big players, he could have listed Ronaldo next to Messi. No I think he mentions Vidal because he knows we have been linked with him for quite awhile and he wants to say as much as I like the player and I would have liked him to sign for us but just like we won't get Messi we are not getting Vidal either.

What I do not read into it is that we are going to sign Vidal, that is just a turn people are giving to this interview because of wishfull thinking.

Now I might ofcourse be wrong as I'am no expert into reading into what people are trying to say exactly, but it is what I read into his words.

Vidal. Messi couldn't do shit in this team, Mata and Rooney would turn it over before it got to him. Cleverley and Fletcher would pass wide to Valencia or Young who would pass it backwards or lose it. No brainer really

I would swap Mata, Rooney and Rvp for Messi

---------De Gea--------
Rafael-Evans-Rojo-Shaw
------Vidal-Herrera-----
Di Maria---Mata--Januzaj
---------Rooney--------

Ed, you filthmonger.

I'm going to throw more fuel on this fire.

When Woodward made the "watch this space" comments, Vidal seemed much more likely than Di Maria at the time. It's quite possible that the reports about LvG being worried about the knee were in fact true and that's why we've waited so long to make a move.

Watch this space, is a confident statement and with all due respect wouldn't be used for Rojo, Blind or De Jong.

I wonder if getting rid of Fellaini (or another midfielder) is what's holding this up and this is why;

We were obviously in negotiations with Arsenal over Vermaelen for quite some time, as soon as that deal went dead we quickly got the Rojo deal done with that Nani goes and no sooner does he go (a winger) we apparently tie up Di Maria.

Anyone of Fellaini, Anderson and Cleverley could all go before the window shuts and I wonder if that's when we'll get a possible deal for Vidal done...

To be honest i don't think there's much to read into with his "watch this space" comment. It's nothing confident, brash or anything really, it merely says: Give us time, we're working on it, stop going on etc etc.

He actually said "Pigs in Space", which was a cryptic nod to us muppets.

He's clearly just said we're not getting Vidal.

He probably said it to send a message to Woodward he's not happy.

Probably frustrated that we don't have him after the utter fecking shambles we had in midfield today.

Just for the fun of it:
Vidal or Messi?

Messi.

I'd actually give Rooney, RVP and Mata for Messi as well, the guy is a footballing God. Heck Messi scores more than them 3 on his own regularly every season anyway .

Only player I wouldn't trade for Messi is big Dave.

We're desperate for both, I agree. But my God I will celebrate if we sign Vidal, he's my dream signing. Sick of us being overrun in midfield.

We'd still be overrun because he'd have to work with at least one of Cleverley, Fletcher or Carrick at any one time. Plus Herrera isn't exactly a defensive shield.

If we switch to a 4-3-3 or a diamond with Carrick behind Herrera and Vidal we'd have a top class midfield. No way would we get overrun, Vidal alone will make sure of that.

Well Carrick at his best is a fine midfielder, and I think he would work well in a role like that, though I agree he needs to be replaced next summer.

If he can get back to his 12/13 form he'd be very useful in the holding role. I just hope we don't ask him to carry us in a 2 man midfield yet again when it's obvious he hasn't got the legs.

He's 33, coming off the back of a terrible season and an injury. To expect him to return to anything like his form is impossible. I wouldn't expect any better from him than Fletcher at the minute if I'm honest. 12/13 was a last hurrah.

Fletchers game at his peak years back was built around energy, Carrick game is more the mental side, awareness of space, screening the back four and anticipation, he's never had any pace and isn't exactly known to be mobile so I expect him to keep his game up a little longer.
Saying that we still need a midfielder desperately, it's a blackhole out there so far this season.

He still has a role to play, he's not finished. Buy his successor is more apt. The role he plays means he can play well into his late 30s and still be an important player for us like Scholes became.
