We all feel like that young boy who in 1996, aged 11 fantasized for months about getting a Sony Playstation for christmas. Every day we would rush home from school and stare at the photo of this lovely, grey, communist looking machine in the Gratton catalogue.
Every friend we had, owned a Playstation and would be in awe of its capabilities. We felt left out in conversations that took place at school. Outsiders. Outcasts, but full of hope, that our hardworking parents would go all out this year and get us the present we desire the most.
We didn't sleep on Christmas eve, the feeling of pure excitment rumbling around our tummies put pay to any chance of closing our eyes.
At 6 o'clock on Christmas morning, we dont run down the stairs, we f"cking leap the whole case. We rush to the xmas tree and grab our main present, which in no way shape or form resembles a Playstation box. The size is wrong, The weight is wrong. It actually feels like My mam has actually wrapped an actual piece of fruit as an xmas present. The world comes crashing down. The feeling of hope is replaced with anger and despare in the blink of an eye.
A tear falls down our cheek.
And when we finally calm down, we remember that theres always next year, hope begins to rebuild until the realisation sets in that we still have the same stingy parents.

So yeah.. thats how my mood right now anyway.

 Amazing. I was one of those children too. Never had a PS1 :(

Sure, but the ITK was claiming that it's all down to the player's knee and once that's sorted out the move to us will only be a formality. Well, his knee is ok now and there's no move in sight. And that was basically the only thing that gave us hope, plus the Conte departure.
Training doesn't mean his knee is OK, certainly not £60-70m ok (if you factor in the fee + players reports). Vidal or Juve saying it is OK doesn't mean much either when both want a high priced deal to go through.

It is not to say he won't be fine, but just that the price is a huge risk if there are any concerns about his knee at all.

Of course it's a risk, but since he trained and the comments from Juve stated that his knee and overall fitness is okay and the ITK was saying that it's happening at the end of last week and that was pretty much all our hope, and all the media reports, were based on it's rather unlikely, not? Since then there hasn't been anything new from the media that suggests a move. It's possible until the window closes, but very unlikely at this stage.

You don't spend that kind of money if there are any doubts about his fitness whatsoever. If there are fears about his knee, it is best to wait.

I wonder how much the insurance premiums cost ?

For the fee being bandied around, and with the question mark on his knee, I'd rather we not buy him. Hargreaves still is fresh in my mind.

Besides, we could offer similar amounts and try for Strootman, a player Van Gaal rates and knows about. Younger as well.

And Strootman is injury free? He is also coming back from a major injury. Are you sure his knee is okay? Also LVG knows about Vidal. He said it himself he tried to sign him before.

Strootman's injury is more serious than Vidal's, so I don't quite get your logic here.

Indeed. Though on the dark side we'll have to brace for another 6-12 months of non existent midfield.

Well done Sir

Vidal is better than Strootman too. Don't think people realise the urgency required to fix the midfield it can't wait until January. If we do it could mean we are 7th or 8th playing catch up for the rest of the season.

Yeah everyone thought Mata will bringt us to the 4th place in January....of course Moyes was the real problem.....but his transfer was too late

We must buy now ffs

Concerns over Vidal's knee injury puzzle me. Are we suggesting that Vidal might be crocked for good? If so, how can we even think about Strootman, who has a far more serious knee injury? Why did we buy RvP, who's had far more serious knee injuries? Strootman is expected to make a full recovery. RvP came back brilliantly.

By all accounts, Vidal had a minor knee injury (lateral meniscus) and that he is recovering well. He may need another few weeks to recover but he is well on the road to a full recovery and is expected to be fully fit soon.

If that's all true, certainly we can and should pick him up now and get him fit to play by mis September.

If it's not true and he is crocked for good in the eyes of the United medical staff then let's just publicly state that we're interested and move on to someone else.

Neither RvP nor Strootman risked their leg by playing competitive football just a few weeks after operation. In fact, there was a rumour that his surgeon didn't ok it and he played with pain killers in the WC. That cannot be good even though a meniscus injury is not the most serious knee injury. It can become an issue if it wasn't allowed the required time to heal.

Hmmm so what ever did happen to all those RedIssue insiders ey??

Exactly. Its not the injury, its the early return that raised the concern. Vidal came back far too early, needed injections to play at all, and still never made it 90 minutes. To take him off their best player and best penalty taker, in a do or die situation against Brazil in the World Cup, the guy must barely have been able to walk.

And I say all this as a huge Vidal fan, and a player that I really hope works out for us.

It's like even the journos have got tired of recycling the same information

Why does he have one knee uncovered and one covered, did he just spot woody,

I wonder how much the insurance premiums cost ?

Real Madrid's policy for James is reported to have cost them about 800k/year - basically 1% of his insured value (replacement cost). However I think that mostly covers death or injury/illness leading to retirement.

I think they also pay another premium for the whole squad paying wages on players who are injured for more than 3 weeks. The cost of that one factors in things like previous injuries (and yes, there are exclusions for pre-existing conditions!) and age as well as the wagebill.

Summarising: not cheap, even if you can get it.

Out of any signing muted, he would improve us the most. him and hererra would work their fecking asses off for our defenders. a proper Keane replacement.

Unfortunately if we wanted him i reckon he would have been ours already. hes been available for months and the club could have paraded him around with "New Era" propaganda, but they haven't.

Don't you effectively 'end' a players's playing career if you claim ?

I'm sure a club claimed against an injured player (who didn't think he was finished) and he then couldn't return to play professionally. Unless I'm imagining it.

Have you tried RAWK, they love a good analogy?

I think we all get it, we are concerned about his knee, and the asking price, that's all very understandable, but whats's plan B????

Is that Anderson with a Mohican? No wonder we are taking our time buying him, we need a DNA test first.

I think it's the football equivalent of scrapping the car, in some cases you (or the player) can buy the wreck back for scrap value. However yes, if the insurers pay out it's because he can't play. If he then starts playing again, I imagine the insurers will want some (all) of the money back and the club would insist on the player or his new club offering compensation. It'll be in the small print somewhere and the player will have agreed to it at some point.

Career ending catastrophes are so rare that I doubt there are many test cases. Part of the reason for Madrid having this kind of policy could be memories of De La Red who had only been back with them for about a month when he collapsed with an (assumed) heart condition and couldn't return to play.

Imagine if that happened to your €100m asset, errrr I mean player.
