Arturo Vidal

To much noise, none of it coming from us or even England. So far it seems that it's just Chilean and Italian medias that keep on talking about it.
I don't think it's going to happen but why does this weird rebuttal keep popping up? 'Only the Chilean and Italian media talk about a Chilean player playing in Italy, must be made up'.

ps. this deal is ON. If you can't see that, i guess some people are in for a surprise.

My friend just scared the shit out of me. Said there's news of Vidal going to Bayern too, as well as Benatia. Don't know where the feck he heard that from. He's not ITK, he just said it's what is being said rumour wise.

What I don't get is why nobody else is in for him?

My inner Muppet says its because they know he wants to join us. (Complete wishful thinking.)

It really is odd that one who is considered one of the top mid fielders in the world today seemingly has no suitors other than us.. especially given his lack of verbal commitment to Juve.

Different stages of this thread

1.This deal will happen after the WC
2. He is on Holiday, once he is back we will sign
3. We will sign him once we are back from the US tour
4. We will sign once he starts training
5. We will sign once he comes from the Juve tour

What's next??

We will sign him on deadline day

I don't believe that he is coming here, but I can see other teams which could afford him are already stuffed with Midfielders. Chelsea, Barca, Real, Bayern.. Just look at thier midfield and it is complete and the managers don't want to fix what isn't broken. Which would make us the most probable suitor.

After that some will guess it will be one of those deals that go through a couple of hours after the deadline has passed

Leicester do not have United's prestige and they can't pay 200k a week.

I would be terrified to join United during Veron time. I mean he was the Johnny foreigner coming into a world class midfield which was mainly made up of homegrown talent who had been playing together since they were 14 (Scholes, Beckham and Giggs). His signing meant pushing one of the guys (possibly Scholes) out of position. I am sure that his arrival was perceived as Obama's turning to one of the tea party meetings

Vidal would be the catalyst of United's revival. He could be the Cantona of this generation ie the missing piece that changed things around. That's quite an interesting prospect isn't it?

Though I agree with you in principle, this sentiment rarely seems to work in real life though. Take the case of RVP for that matter. He was a vital cog in their engine but chose to depart to their rivals so that he could get into a better team that wins trophies.

It is my opinion that the modern footballer will be swayed more by playing for a successful team and be part of the glory than get into a struggling team and try to become the main guy there. Of course, all this is pointless if we break the bank and pay him a huge wage.

Vidal said he's aware of the links ie. what the press were saying, or something to that effect. You can't read into Van Gaals comments either way, he didn't want to discuss transfers at all.
A quick google brings up that Vidal said this:
Arturo Vidal (according to Chilevision): "I am not thinking about where I will go, I wanna enjoy my vacation with the people I love."

Arturo Vidal (according to Chilevision): "Right now I want to think about other things. After, when I return to Italy, we'll see."

Arturo Vidal (according to Chilevision): "I am already at a huge club, Juventus, which relaxes me should the Man United option fall through"
You are right about Vidal refusing to talk about any transfers, albeit managers in a similar position to this sometimes deny a long running rumour if there really is nothing in it.

I'm also interested what you think about the Chile managers comments about Vidal's knee being the only thing holding the transfer up?

Watch him end up at Bayern by the end of the week, they will complete the transfer swiftly just like Thiago, shaking my damn head.

Hasn't he told Bayern to feck off once already, earlier in his career? No way will Bayern sign him.

He has, but footballers have no problem changing their minds after time elapses. Who would've thought Fabregas would be playing for Chelsea?

I think he means Bayern wont be in for him, rather than him not wanting to play there

And he doesn't want to come to us. He doesn't want it enough..
With the way we bumble around with transfers, you can't blame him for not asking to leave. He'd ask to leave or put in a transfer request and then we probably wouldn't even put a bid in for him leaving him in limbo.

Jesus Christ, I'm off the grid for two or three days, I come back and you've let the Vidal thread drop off the first page? What is wrong with you lot, you're worse than Woodie!

Just out of curiosity, what do you think first page means?

This Vidal guy. Is he any good?
Sassoon? Apparently he's decent. I have a friend who has watched every minute of Serie A over the last 14 years and he said Vidal is one of the top 100 midfielders he's ever seen that plays for Juventus.

I don't know why this becomes such a relevant thing with regards to our transfer sagas. If we make a good offer which his club accepts then we have to negotiate his wages with him. Why do we need to come out and state clearly that he wants to move or to hand in a transfer request?

I meant for an example, Liverpool did not want to sell Suarez. But Suarez wanted to leave and made his intentions clear.

But Juve have been bleating on about Vidal all summer even not necessary. They come across as being okay with him staying but preferring a nice big transfer fee instead. If we want him to be "clear" and all that, then we are probably just looking to reduce the price.

We should prepare a bid immediately.

EDIT - How long does that usually take?

We prepare bid only after monitoring the current situation. Son one week to monitor, one week to prepare the bid, and it will be submitted on deadline day.

Based on what? The fact that he hasn't put in a transfer request? United haven't submitted a bid. It'd be ridiculous on his part to put in a transfer request if no bid came in. He'd have burnt his bridges at Juventus and be stuck there.

I agree with this, it would be like telling your boss you had a job interview. You've got no piece of paper saying you're getting the job yet, but your old boss knows you don't want to be there any more so that's the end of progression there. However, if that's the case, this is a vicious circle and there's no way of us signing him. They won't accept a bid unless he's handed in a request, he won't hand in a request unless they accept a bid...

There is still nothing about Vidal in the English press, even though there are murmurings of Di Maria and Benatia. We've probably dropped all interest on this one.
