It is a tale of two cities, isn't it?
Haha. Think that's a one for the Cavani to Chelsea rumours.
It is a tale of two cities, isn't it?
I'm not so sure. History shows Woody panicked with Fellaini when he was running out of time and threw whatever money it took at the problem to solve it. I can see the same happening if this comes down to the wire and he hasn't signed anyone since Shaw and Herrera.
Vidal isn't Fellaini. Signing a world class talent doesn't happen overnight unfortunately.
Still plenty of time to do this deal and it could well happen on deadline day for all we know. A few examples of huge deals going through at the last minute:
Wayne Rooney > Manchester United 31st August 2004 - £25.6m
Dimitar Berbatov > Manchester United 1st September 2008 - £30.75m
Robinho > Manchester City 1st September 2008 - £33m
Mesut Ozil > Arsenal 2nd September 2013 - £42.5m
So van Gaal is waiting to see if the likes of Fellaini and Cleverley are good enough before splashing the cash on Vidal?
I really hope you are right. The squad doesn't need any more bloody assessing. First Moyes and now van Gaal! No.
I don't believe for a second he is still "assessing" his team. Probably paying Woodie some time until Vidal comes back and things get going.
I'm sure he knows who he wants for a long time.
We going to take LVG's quote as an admission of interest?
Don't see why anyone should, but of course the desperate will do so...We going to take LVG's quote as an admission of interest?
You haven't even seen him saying it yet. It could just be in the context of him saying " if I want a player I'll be telling the chairman first, not you".I for one do. "I'll discuss it with Woodward not with you". Well that's more than enough for me to confirm our interest in him. Not saying we will be singing him but at least we know that we are in for him.
Otherwise he could have said it's all rubbish, squad is great, CM especially, I love Fellaini and his hair or sth like that.

Indeed, if you want to be literal about the quote, it implies he has not yet even discussed Vidal with Woodward yet...
And that is an answer to me how? From the Guardian:
Van Gaal would not discuss the persistent links with Arturo Vidal of Juventus – “I’ll discuss it with Ed Woodward not with you”
And that is an answer to me how?
You're seeing the quote the way you want to see it. Which is a mugs game given you're seeing edited quotes, from someone whose English is dodgy, and who is very likely to say something like " I discuss transfers with the chairman, not journo scum like you".Edited my post.
If there was no interest in the player he would have said so, or at least he could have put it to bed. Neither he nor Vidal did. And even the English press seems to admit that the interest is legit.
If we get him or not is a different matter but good to see that we are at least in for him.
The final 2 weeks soon. Let's do this. We go again!!I'm back bitchezzzzz.
The muppet in me has been rejuvenated.

The "well, he didn't say we weren't interested in Messi" stuff is all good classic muppetry.
Coincidently LVG has just said that you can buy a player in 24 hours!Vidal isn't Fellaini. Signing a world class talent doesn't happen overnight unfortunately.
We may very well be chasing him. I just don't see this particular quote as making that any clearer to us. But I don't particularly blame increasingly desperate people from seeing it as otherwise. And you are negative as feck.
And that's coming from me when I'm actually rather sceptical.
Of course he could have meant sth totally different but if we consider that the press is running with this story for a month now, Vidal is not putting it to bed and now LvG doing it neither, and even saying that our squad lacks a bit of class, it's much more than pure speculation that we might be interested in him.
Got a link?Watching the embargoed presser now and when asked about is he interested in Vidal firstly he says "yes" and smiled. "But I can discuss that with Ed Woodward and not with you".
THIS IS ON.

Tsk tsk, that's a twisting of what he said. Don't be winding up people like that.Watching the embargoed presser now and when asked about is he interested in Vidal firstly he says "yes" and smiled. "But I can discuss that with Ed Woodward and not with you".

Wum.It's just been shown now for the first time. Might be a while. He definitely says yeah and it's clear he wants him.
Ok, this is good. So he says "yeah", and then smiles. You're sticking to that? Because I have the video in front of me.He says yeah as the first response. Watch it again, and concentrate this time.

Is this a 'yeah' with his eyes, or with his vocal cords? He says yeah as the first response. Watch it again, and concentrate this time.
