tbh I haven't seen a single report from a reliable source linking us with Vidal so I am pretty sure we never have been in for him & we definitely won't be signing him, especially as LVG has basically suggested any deals would be done before the season starts and that's like 2 days time so...

I don't think we've got any chance of getting Vidal but Van Gaal did not say anything in the slightest like that.

Woah, so you're basically saying that we're signing him tomorrow ?

Woohoo, rejoice muppets!

no I am saying because we aren't signing him tomorrow or even being seriously reported to make a bid tomorrow that you can consider this whole sage a figment of the imagination of some two bit hacks & the muppets who fell for it.

So, if it's not tomorrow then it surely is day after tomorrow ?

Hell yeah, I can wait.

he has talked about wanting to get to know his team & players before making decisions, pretty sure now the season is basically starting any such decisions have been made whether you believe it or not.

He talked about assessing the team and referenced fact he had until the end of August to make decisions. How you turn that into LVG "basically" saying having all signings done before the start of the season ill never know.

Heart - we are in for him and will will sign him.

Head - we aren't in for him and never have been. There won't be a statement from United or Vidal because it was never on.

Does the heart ever win?

Vidal is on a whole different level to Khedira. 40 million pounds plus 2 players that we don't need/are a bit shit - I don't see the issue.

Precisely.

Nani has become a fringe "do not want" player for United. Everyone of us would hate to lose Hernandez but in truth it's time for him to move on.

If there's any truth to the possibility of us landing Vidal 40m plus Nani and Hernandez it would be an absolute steal.

If we have any hope of soon competing with the likes of Real, Barcelona and Bayern we absolutely must spend on a few truly world class players. Vidal is the one who checks all the boxes.

We have respectable depth, but what we're lacking is excellence at one or two key positions. Defensive central mid is the top priority but if we're happy to have Fletcher or Fellaini man the helm in midfield for us we might as well get used to the idea of being the next Liverpool. That's a fate I suggest we ought to desperately avoid.

It's still alive. Don't listen to Allegri, he looks like a chicken!

And he said Ibra and Silva weren't going anywhere. They left for PSG that summer.

I highly doubt he is going to say in a conference that he is for sale.

Tbh it may mean nothing but surely Vidal should be one of the most prominent faces of any Juve squad pics?

That has been the theme for whole of their tour. Vidal has almost not featured at all. One would expect him to be among the prominent faces. Ya, may mean nothing but...

There is no doubt Juve want the deal. Right now they have the leverage as we want the deal concluded quickly, they can wait until 2nd Sept. We can't agree to a high transfer fee plus Nani and Chicarito. I would keep the discussions going, begin looking at other alternatives and if we need to do the deal conclude it in the latter stages of the transfer window when Juve's leverage is not so strong.

I'd just give them Nani and Javier....when Vidal leads us to the 2014/2015 League Title those players will seem a distant memory.
We get the title, our champs league place back and then scoop up Reus next summer... onwards and upwards to the Champions League title.

If we were never in for him someone would have come out from the club by now and said so. They could have denied their interest, likewise so could the player. There is too much talk for this to be completely made up.

If it doesnt happen I suspect its because the club arent happy with his fitness.

I still think we'll get him, there is too much smoke for there not to be a fire and if Vidal was interested in saying, he would say so by now.
IMO he is eagerly waiting for his move to MUFC.

Check out the ad that was on the bottom of the program guide on my TV this morning. I clicked on it to "Rent", so we should be getting Vidal on a loan deal once Xfinity sends this through to Juve.

Someone needs to photoshop Vidal's, DiMaria's and Hummels heads onto this poster -

Could it be any more perfect?

So the following must be lies then:

- Player himself confirming our interest
- His National coach confirming our interest
- La Stampa, one of the closest media outlets to Juve, confirming our interest
- Di Marzio, one of Italy's best and most reliable when it comes to transfers confirming our interest.

Yeah, we were never interested, it was all just made up because the only reliable media must be in the UK for a deal involving United, an Italian club and a Chilean player. I'm convinced.

That is complete crap (hopefully), you would get 15 to 20 million for those 2 players...

Thats the guts of 70 million... For a player with a dodgy knee......

United would hardly fall for that........... Would they??

€45m is £36m + maybe £20m for the players - that's not a bad base for United to negotiate from. £30m + the players perhaps?

Before anyone says only United would touch a deal like this, it's very like the Eto'o + cash deal that Barca did for Zlatan. Lets hope the net result is better.

You got a link the the quote from Vidal saying 'Manchester United are interested in me'?

Hernandez is a £20m striker in today's market. If he'd gone to Atletico he would be a 30+ goal a season player for them IMO. I don't know why people underrate our players so much, is it because they're not playing so often? Jack Rodwell went for over £10m this summer for christssake.
If Long can go for 12 and borini for 14 then Hernandez is definitely worth 20!!

He's been removed from our list of possible ins on SSN Transfer Update :(

Guess that's it :( :(

Its perfectly plausible, if not
downright likely that we expressed an interest early in the Summer but have since decided not to pursue that interest. All the sources you quote above are aware of that initial interest and are either referring to that interest in their statements or are choosing to maintain that the interest still stands to suit heir.own agenda.

Indeed, that might very well have happened. But too many posters come in here saying 'we were never interested and it's a fairy tale that was made up because no reliable (read so called UK reliable) papers have reported anything. That's my gripe.

Agreed. Vidal may or may not join us, but either case wont have anything to do with the new manager. He has only made this statement to protect his own reputation, so that if he is sold, its clear to all Juve fans that he did not sanction the deal in any way.

I remain hopeful; I think the deal is very much on, but both sides continue to play brinksmanship over the fee.

It will all get resolved in the final few days of this transfer window.

There should be a 'we mean it' declaration fax, legally binding and signed by all the top brass at the club for situations like this. We can't seem to tell the difference between not for sale and playing hard to get.
