This one is going down to the wire lads, can see a Berbatov-esq deadline deal being done.
I agree though this is getting very boring

Jim White on transfer deadline shouting Vidal has signed.

Can't wait.

A pretty substantial one if you consider most reports are saying he's happy to stay if that's what happens.
True. But if you think about it, all of our last 4 transfer (all big of them for big money) needed a push by the players themselves, telling their clubs that they want to move to us.

My opinion (note opinion) is that we've either pulled out of this a long time ago or we really do have concerns over his knee and we're trying to push Juve down on the fee because of that. Either way, just want this to end now.

I wouldn't have thought many massive, foreign transfers like this go to the last day or two because of the logistics of doing the deal. The idea of us pissing around on deadline day trying in vain to get Juve to substantially drop their price doesn't really appeal.

It depends on the clubs involved. Real Madrid have sold players like Ozil, Robinho. Van der Vaart late in the end of the window and they've bought players like Bale and Modric. It's a fact of life at the top of the market as well as among the minnows.

Wasn't Modric more the middle of august in 2012.

Fair. Though perhaps as with all transfer stuff maybe they're the exception rather than the rule.

This story doesn't exist, save yourselves the pain, or keep on believing Woodward has been preparing a bid for the past 6 weeks.

I thought the deadline they set was last Friday??!!!!
Every day is the deadline day, until it passes, then its tomorrow.
That's what I read. I think It might be the deadline for Vidal to express a desire to leave. Woodward is still preparing the bid.
Woody must be the slowest one-finger-typist in the world if he still isn't finished.

If this was true, we should just do it. Much as I love Hernandez, we don't actually need either of those players. Letting them go costs us nothing.
Agree. Nani has no role at all and Pea's 3rd/4th choice. The money we could get from selling them separately isn't worth it if it means no Vidal IMO.

Has Hernandez' agent really come out and said that a swap deal including his client and Vidal is underway?

I think he said that he hasn't been involved in any talks but they expect to have some news on Hernandez within a couple of days.

So...

Nani - £10m?
Hernandez - £18m?
+ around 40m transfer fee...they'll be wanting upwards of 65 million pounds? He's 27, a midfielder and unproven in the PL. Way too much, surely?

Unproven in the PL really? Guess we should focus on James McCarthy then and for get about Vidal.

You're looking at it from the wrong perspective.

Nani - around 100k/week wages for a winger that's useless in 3-5-2, is constantly injured and fails to deliver when played.

Chicharito - a lovely player who's sadly not content with his role and I imagine he's our 4th choice striker right now. Doesn't sound like a bright future for him sadly.

And then the 40m transfer free. While I'm against arming Juve with players and money, I surely won't be tearing my hair out if that's the deal. I'd happily put Ando there somewhere on the plane as well. For them it's getting a winger and a striker. For us it's trimming down the deadwood ( Nani ) and using a makeweight in Chicharito who we probably wouldn't use as often as he/we would like to.
