Arturo Vidal

I want Vidal badly, but I would hate to see Hernandez leave the club :(

Personally I like Hernandez, but I think his general play is too poor for him ever to be a regular. If that tweet was somehow true, I'd happily move him on.

Do Juventus need Hernandez? Don't they already have Tevez, Llorente and Morata? That's a pretty good pool of strikers, and quite possibly all 3 are likely to get games ahead of Hernandez.

I agree. I really like him, seems like a great guy off the pitch too. I'd hate to see him play for another PL team, but I'd be happy for him to go abroad.

However the bidding process may work, it seems to function in an entirely different manner when it comes to Real, Chelsea and City.

Yep. If they want a player, they don't arse about. They go and buy him. It's as simple as that, usually.

Here is the original La Tercera article:

And the terrible google translation:
Manchester United to sign new formula prepares the desired Arturo Vidal
They offer 67 million plus by Javier Hernandez. It would be the biggest signing in the history of the "Red Devils" because they paid that figure by Ferdinand in 2002-2003.

Manchester United will not surrender. Is that Arturo Vidal has become the greatest desire of the "Red Devils", who are offering to pay $ 67 million Juventus pass over Mexican Javier Hernandez.

If realized, this would be the biggest signing in the history of United, as in the 2002-2003 season to Leeds United was paid the same amount by Rio Ferdinand.

Meanwhile, Juventus have put a deadline on Friday to discuss offers for the Chilean. This is because Massimiliano Allegri, coach of the "Vecchia Signora", intended to stay Chile to try to win the Champions League.

"For now are just comments, so I can not explain the situation. I still have no news of that eventual trucking spoken in England. But soon have to be news," he said tersely to Senior Agent Chicharito Eduardo Hernández.

Manchester United's coach Louis van Gaal is waiting for Vidal wants to see in court. However, the national has not played on tour by Juventus Asia and Oceania, although he has practiced more normally with each passing day. Doubts remain Dutch Chilean by inactivity.

Yes, Van Gaal and shut him Marouane Fellaini, who occupies a place in midfield."In Manchester there's no room for you," I would have said the Belgian.

Similarly, the representative of Arturo Vidal, Fernando Felicevic is in England and saw Alexis Sanchez in the final of the Community Shield between Arsenal and Manchester City. And according to press reports, it would have taken advantage of the trip to close the transfer of Vidal to Manchester United.

Don't Juve need a winger after they failed to pursue Sanchez? We have Nani, you know
Talk from Juve's end has been a striker and winger/inside forward. I don't think they would take the funds from selling Vidal and plough them straight into another single big signing.

Genuine question:

Why the value in all the quotes from Italian papers are in dollars? Because it seems bigger to sell the paper?

Here's a more coherent translation of my own making:

Manchester United just won't give up. Arturo Vidal has become the primary target for the Red Devils, who are offering to pay Juventus $67 million, plus the transfer of the Mexican Javier Hernandez.

Upon completion, this will be the biggest signing in the history of United, after they paid a smiliar figure in 2002-3 for Rio Ferdinand. (Obviously haven't done their research here either on the fee paid for Ferdinand or the fee paid for Juan Mata!!)

For their part, Juventus have put a deadline of this Friday to receive offers for the Chilean. This is because Allegri, the Coach of the "Old Lady", wants the Chilean to stay so that they can try and win the champions league.

"For now they are only rumours and because of that I cannot further elaborate on the situation. I still don't have any news of this eventual swap deal that they are talking about in England. But there will have to be developments soon" said the Agent of Chicharito, Eduardo Hernandez, to La Tercera.

The coach of United, Van Gaal, is expecting and wanting to see Vidal on the field. However, the player hasn't played in Juve's tour of Asia and Oceania, despite training as normal as the days have passed. The doubts of the Dutch coach continue because of the inactivity of the player.

It's also the case that Van Gaal has closed the door to Marouane Fellaini, who is currently occupying a central midfield berth. "In Manchester we don't have space for you" he is supposed to have told the Belgian.

At the same time, the representative if Vidal, Fernando Felicevic, could be found in England and watched Alexis Sanchez play in the community shield versus Man City. According to certain sections of the press, he took the opportunity while there to close the transfer of Vidal to Manchester United.

Remind me, are 'Chilean La Tercera' any good? I've been introduced to so many new Chilean news outlets over the past month or 2, I can't keep up.
They're somewhere in the middle. They're not as good as El Mercurio, but they're better than La Cuarta (which is more of a Mirror/Daily Mail type).

I thought Wednesday was supposed to D-Day and that we were going to sign Vidal today!
Well, historically speaking, August 15 is V-J Day. V-J. Vidal-Juventus. Coincidence? And while some may take that to mean Vidal going to Juventus, remember that in the historical use of the term, the "J" is the loser (Japan....as in Victory over Japan Day, for those not overly familiar with WWII).

Thus the new V-J Day will be Vidal over Juventus or Victory over Juventus.

It's ON, and it's happening this FRIDAY.

Edit: It could also be tomorrow, August 14, as both days are sometimes considered V-J day (it was August 15 in Japan when surrender was announced, but still August 14 in the US and Europe). With Juve over in Australia, this timeline fits even more.

The muppetry is strong with this one, my master.

To note, August 15 is a public holiday in catholic countries, Italy, Chile, France etc - banks are closed

It depends on what currency you use, we signed Rio for £30m which at the time was €46m, Mata was £37m but that was €45m, so in some countries Rio is our most expensive signing.

Feel some of you need to heed the words of Thomas Paine. He wrote this during the American Revolution when it looked like things were at their worst:
These are the times that try men's souls: The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman.

Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph.

Stay strong, Muppet brothers and sisters!

Jeez you lot still fretting over this. I keep telling you, this was done and dusted a while ago. He's signing. The defender and winger is more a matter for fretting.

40m + Chicharito is a good deal for Juventus.
It's a fee of £52-55m, and at that a conservative estimate of Hernandez' value. Shane bloody Long is going for £12m this Summer.

Its an excellently bid and one Juve couldn't really complain about.

Only minor problem I can see with the transfer now is that none of it is actually true.
