Reporting in the Corriere Dello Sport today that Vidal must be going as his agent is in England. Basically saying he wouldn't be in England 3 days before the Ferragosto (15th Aug) deadline Juve imposed unless it was to negotiate a deal.

In relation to the article above, wasn't he there to watch Sanchez? Also this 15th Aug deadline, won't they still be on tour?

Re Felliani, he had a buy out clause at £22mil and no one made a firm bid. His wages are reportedly £100k a week, which will put off most clubs. He isn't good enough for most of the tops clubs - we will struggle to get rid, I would be shocked if Juve would want him.

Anyone think we're actually interested in signing him? People can't stop talking about it but there's no actual evidence from the club that we want to sign him. I feel like we're talking this up in our heads.
The club never talked about Herrera or Shaw either.

So much coming out of Italy on United interest, but literally nothing reported by the English press (not counting Star & Express).
Are you referring to the same English press who are determined we're after Hummels, despite it being a clear non-starter. Or the English press who kept linking us with Cavani. Perhaps the English press who linked us with that konoplyanka lad at the start of the summer. They really don't have a fecking clue who we're interested in imo.

If they had a decent track record and said we weren't interested in Vidal I'd be worried. However at this stage I'm taking it as a positive that the English press aren't linking us.

Unless I'm not looking at the right papers I have seen far more media speculation linking us to Hummels and di Maria than Vidal

Twitter is Vidal territory

Yeah, that's a fair call. A quick glance through Google pulls up a reasonable amount of Vidal stories from the papers this summer though.

Fair point. Its fair to say the English media is truly out of the loop, in the sense there have been zero links from the club itself.

I can understand that, but we would still be massively undervaluing Hernandez and Fellaini in that deal. As a Club it frustrates the Hell out of me how we never get a good deal when selling players, a year ago we could have got £20+ million for Hernandez, add that to the £10 million loss on Fellaini then we are still overpaying, we could and should be getting him or alot less.

The thing that people usually don't take into account is that we pay our squad player's very well, which prohibits a large number of buying clubs.

People talk about Fellaini being worth £20m in today's market, which is true... If he were on say £40-50k a week. Fellaini is a player that some mid table teams would consider sanctioning say £35m over a 5 year contract (60k a week and £20m). However Fellaini is on around £5m a year, so to match his wage most clubs would only want to pay around £10m as a fee (with £25m in wages = £35m).

The same is true of Young, Nani and Hernandez, all will be on £4-5m per season which is either above or at the top of most Premier League teams budget. Most teams would prefer to look abroad for a player that costs twice the fee, but are happy on a much lower salary. People had similar gripes about the amount we sold Brown/O'Shea for. However again these were player's that had accrued several pay rises at United and were on wages that only a few teams would ever match. People think we have an altruistic attitude that we let good servants go because it's best for them. Obviously this isn't the case but the club recognise that Sunderland aren't going to sanction a £10m transfer fee and say £60-70k a week for John O'Shea.

Where the club need to look at themselves in my opinion are the contracts offered to squad player's in the first place. The fact is that Fellaini for instance should have been offered a similar wage than he was on at Everton (maybe £60k a week), with us making it clear that he would have a significant pay rise once he's proved himself at the club (possibly even step ups based on hitting appearances/performances/goal targets etc). I personally can't see Fellaini or Young turning us down under that kind of agreement. We seem to pay them on the basis that they will make it at United, before they actually have made it.

Its actually very funny how we can tell the media we are not interested in Vidal and say we are interested in Hummels, and the media can actully believe that amd run with it. See unlike Vidal, Hummels dad came out and said his son wont move, dortmund have categorically denied they will sell him, Klopp has said so infront of cameras. But, as long as the club feeds the media we are in for him, they will keep linking us with him and printing stories. L

Amazing isnt it?

If we were not linked to Hummels so much, id believe and understand the english medias stance on Vidal.

It's my birthday today. Woodwood should realize that and buy Vidal today after the shite we put up with last season.

Happy Brthday, dear Sir Matt
Here's Vidal, for you

I never enter this thread if it is not the first thread on the page. I come in full of hope, only to be disappointed. :D

So Fernando Felicevich did meet United if the Henriquez transfer is anything to go by. You would think the Vidal transfer may have been discussed aswell?
