I mean its good to be positive. But he is getting over excited.

He's a teetotal Jesus freak, he does that a lot.

Basically, he probably has some connections in Germany but in general he's a pretty mediocre "expert" and I'm not sure why people give a shit about what he has to say about non-Bundesliga related issues.

Cheers for that man.

I knew about that, but thought that money was coming out of the sponsorship being paid to United. So what you're saying is, the sponsors have upped their financing to United to pay Rooney's increased deal?

If not, then its still money thats coming out of United's generated coffers!

My assertion on image rights was that a player gotta share of shirt sales etc. from the club - not sponsors. The sponsors have already done their bit by payin United. Its up to United how they spend that money..

Yep, the bolded bit is correct; most players' contracts essentially include handing over the majority of the money they earn from sponsorship and image rights to the club, and then their commercial worth is reflected (or that's the theory) in the amount the club pays them. But Rooney, like Ronaldo at Real, brings in a huge, huge amount more sponsorship money than any of his teammates, so it's seen as only fair that he can negotiate a differently balanced deal, in which much of his commercial income goes straight into his pocket, rather than merely being reflected in a high salary from the club.

That's certainly not the same as that money coming out of the club's pocket. Your average player brings in 'x' amount of sponsorship money, and 80% of it goes straight to the club. If Rooney brings in 10x, and 80% of it goes to him - he's still earning the club more than double the commercial income of another player. It's hardly fair to expect him, whose individual worth is so massive to sponsors, to give over the same amount of it as someone like, say, Carrick, whose commercial value is negligible.

And 10x is actually probably a pretty conservative estimate. I mean, think about how many times you see Rooney's face on things and in adverts compared to how often you see Rafa da Silva, or Jonny Evans. It's a completely different ball game.

A bit off topic, but I don't have twitter, nor am I from Britain, and I don't really follow up journalist / news on transfer rumours on the net and twitter that much .. so can someone explain to me WHO THE FRAK IS INDYKAILA or whatever the name is?

Some kid, an ex-KFC worker apparently, who has managed to garner some measure of Twitter 'celebrity status' by inventing transfer stories and passing them off as inside information.

I hope we get Vidal, it seems Arsenal had sent a bid, if rumors are to be trusted (goal.com)...

Thank you for the info, and I think that's exactly why i don't use twitter.. I have an account, but haven't logged in for moths ...

Vidal and Arsenal don't go together, you need to be mentally fragile to play for that club.. he's as resolute as they come.

However, we would have said the same about Ozil a year ago....
That was more to do with no one else willing to pay the asking price, if we want him then we would blow Arsenal out of the water.

I come online and see the Vidal thread bumped up on top and my heart start beating so heavily that I think i'm about to have a stroke - only to find out you guys are doing some fecking small talk over a player. Please only bump these thread if there is something of substance happening.

Goal.com and indykaila are not to be trusted.

What's wrong with some of you. Someone clearly states he isn't British so it's safe to assume he is asking for some advice in that post and he gets sarcastic responses and jokes made because he missed a letter in a word? Grow up.
I'd hate to go on a foreign forum, ask for some help and get these responses.

Don't mean to be a partypooper but has Vidal ever done or said anything to indicate he's willing to leave Juventus? Have Juventus ever indicated that they wiuld be willing to sell Vidal?

"Will I stay at Juventus? I do not know," he told Sky Italia.

"I just think about the World Cup and the national team now.

"After the World Cup we will see what will be my future."

Someone like you shouldn't even be in the Transfer Forum. Substance? You'll be wanting a bj from Arsene Wenger next.

I think the reasoning behind it is that Juventus will probably sell Pogba or Vidal, maybe both, but I believe it will be only one of the two. They need money to fund reinforcements in other areas, and they lack funds. So they will probably cash in. The problem is, they probably can get more for Pogba, but also Pogba is younger, he can stay a year or two and raise value even more. So I think Juventus would rather sell Vidal. Also Vidal may be tempted to play in Premiership or La Liga, for a team that can compete for the Champions League, which is unlikely for Juventus, given the state of Serie A at the moment...

From what I've seen of Juventus selling Vidal to strengthen other areas will weaken them rather than help. As for the bolded part United have no chance of signing him this summer or next if that is the reason he is willing leave Juventus.

Vidal is a top earner at Juve but that's only around 100k a week. They can't afford to offer him the type of wages he'd be given if he moved to United/Madrid etc. By selling Vidal they can use those funds to tie down Pogba to a long term deal as one of if not the best paid players at the club, they want to protect their interest in him and I imagine include a healthy release clause for when the seemingly inevitable Madrid/City/Chelsea money comes knocking. Vidal has motivation to leave since we could double his wages and realistically money is the most important factor in most scenarios. Sure we don't have CL football this season but with LVG as coach and the signings we've already made he would know we won't be away for long.

They already have Pirlo (who just signed a new 2 year deal) Pogba (who they desperately want to sign a new deal) and Marchisio for CM options. Vidal is the best of the lot but getting Pogba tied to a long term deal and using transfer funds in other areas is a very viable option for Juve.

Ok I now understand why Juventus would be willing to sell. I now need to know why there are so many people optimistic that we can get him? There are clubs like Chelsea, City, Real Madrid, PSG who can still double his wages and offer him Champions League football. We can only offer him money at the moment.

It's more than money and Champions League football, it's being made to feel that you're the star player in a team full of great players. All footballers want to be told their the best player and the club needs them. We can definitely offer Vidal that where as Chelsea and Madrid would just treat him as another dispensable player. You've only got to look at the Toure situation at City to see this in action.

If Vidal is available we're the least likely to sign him. I just don't see how we can get him. We're better off setting our sights on someone more attainable for at least a couple of years.

True but can't see Chelsea signing another midfielder - FFP another reason - this applies to City and PSG especially, City seem worried, PSG not so, but don't see Vidal wanting to go to PSG. RM more likely but their main target is probably a striker. Arsenal can't see them spending that big again (especially on another midfielder). If Vidal does leave and is convinced by the project of LVG - then more than a chance for United to get him

Can someone change the title from just 'Vidal' to 'Arturo Vidal'? It's bugging me. A slight OCD problem you could say. Same with the De Jong thread. :)
