just around 1000 posts to beat berbatov??

We need need more fake Vidal IG posts, quotes from the Juve Chairman and new twitter rumours!

What's the bets that we don't sign him because of his knee issue, and he goes on to play for Juventus fine and injury free.

That is of course possible. However, you've to remember that Juventus have none or little risk in the scenario, whereas we have to bear the entire risk if we buy him.

You also have to consider a recent bit of news that our club doesn't have or buy insurance against long term injuries to our players. That is I key point, imo.

Juventus have the same risk as us minus the increased wages we'd be putting on the table if they reject a £40m offer.

Yes you're right, but the key words are "if they reject a £40m offer". I don't think they will reject such an offer. As it stands, all the risk is on us. And if we do buy him, it might necessitate a change in our player injury insurance policies.

The renewed speculation about his knee means I'll be watching him closely when he is in Australia for a friendly then. Still don't think it will happen, but hopefully we have someone else in mind.

Yeah.

Heard of Owen Hargreaves?

To be fair, Owen Hargreaves had tendonitis, one of the worst cases his doctors had ever seen and described his knees as "like Apple sauce".

Vidal has only had a small operation to clip a bit off his meniscus. Very straightforward however he set back his rehabilitation big style by playing at the World Cup. He's had a month off now and has another month to get back to training and see what condition it is in. I still think it's incredibly likely that we will sign him, we're just not rushing into it for obvious reasons.

I also think we've put a date on it, if he's not back training properly and won't be able to complete a medical before the last week of August, we will move forward on an alternative.

So where are we today? Any closer? Has Vidal gone on strike yet? Surely sitting on ball in the ground (as he was pictured) is the final step before a person goes on strike?

It genuinely is a case of "watching this space" now. We have to hope he trains well, gets some preseason game time and comes through it with his knee feeling good.

I know - it's ridiculous, considering there has been absolutely no real signs that we are going to get or are even interested in Vidal, other than rumours from Chile and Italy.

"Rumours from Chile"

You mean when the Chile national team manager went on record that Vidal's $80m transfer to United is on hold because Van Gaal has worries about his knee and Vidal might have sacrificed his personal gains in the future for his national team by playing on his injured knee?

Yeah real dodgy "rumour" that one.

Got it. We will "watch the space" for now and as soon as he gets game time we will "attack the space"

August 10... :wenger:

They seriously need to find ways to set preseason as the same for everyone in the future.
Thanks. I Doubt Vidal will play though. Might be interesting to see Juventus under Allegri. It'll be embarrassing if they lose to the A League All Stars.

Feck you BBC, got me excited with Vidal on the front page, only for it to be mentioned in the gossip section.

Shall we try and make our own rumors up on dodgy twitter accounts to see if we can make it into a newspaper? What shall we go with?

Done dealio

I actually think it's going to get to 30k.

We've got just under 4 weeks to go and there's going to be a flourish if he gets some game time, then when the transfer starts to go through you can expect it to explode in here.

Where can i find this thread?

I didnt take part in the thread but read it. It is literally the funniest thread here. Even better than the Ashley Cole photoshop thread.

I admire your optimism, and when he signs I hope your efforts in driving this are recognised...

Wow I thought their pre season tour went on for another couple of weeks. Seems like the official tour ends on the 16th.

Here are their fixtures.

6/08 Indonesia
10/08 A-League All Stars (expected return of the king)
16/08 LionsXII & S-League Internationals
23/08 TBA x2 opponents in a local tournament played in Italy.

My take on the situation hasn't changed. We are the only ones in for him and that has given us the confidence to wait it out. It gives him time to get back to training and give him every chance of being fit enough to complete a medical.

It also explains why we were briefing the press that we are not interested in him - because we want to keep it all very low key and make sure nobody else gets wind of it and makes a move for him.

So 10 days rather than 14 days... Wow.

I'm of a similar opinion, and have been for weeks. Too many signs to ignore, and the only real signal against is the British presses insistence they have been told otherwise, which isn't really an indication of anything.
