How can you possibly know we don't have a backup?
I don't know, hence why the use of the word "apparent"...it's great isn't it. I love posts like that.
Ever heard of a guy called Ruud van Nistelrooy? What's the bets that we don't sign him because of his knee issue, and he goes on to play for Juventus fine and injury free.

Yeah.
Heard of Owen Hargreaves?
When did he get a knee injury?
That is of course possible. However, you've to remember that Juventus have none or little risk in the scenario, whereas we have to bear the entire risk if we buy him. What's the bets that we don't sign him because of his knee issue, and he goes on to play for Juventus fine and injury free.

You also have to consider a recent bit of news that our club doesn't have or buy insurance against long term injuries to our players. That is I key point, imo.
Yes you're right, but the key words are "if they reject a £40m offer". I don't think they will reject such an offer. As it stands, all the risk is on us. And if we do buy him, it might necessitate a change in our player injury insurance policies.Juventus have the same risk as us minus the increased wages we'd be putting on the table if they reject a £40m offer.
Yeah.

The renewed speculation about his knee means I'll be watching him closely when he is in Australia for a friendly then. Still don't think it will happen, but hopefully we have someone else in mind.

So where are we today? Any closer? Has Vidal gone on strike yet? Surely sitting on ball in the ground (as he was pictured) is the final step before a person goes on strike?
I know - it's ridiculous, considering there has been absolutely no real signs that we are going to get or are even interested in Vidal, other than rumours from Chile and Italy.
When is juve playing in Sydney?
It genuinely is a case of "watching this space" now. We have to hope he trains well, gets some preseason game time and comes through it with his knee feeling good.
There was that one freekick vs Arsenal. That's about it.Easier to tell you the times he wasn't injured.
Sunday night I'm pretty sure. When is juve playing in Sydney?
Thanks. I Doubt Vidal will play though. Might be interesting to see Juventus under Allegri. It'll be embarrassing if they lose to the A League All Stars.August 10...
They seriously need to find ways to set preseason as the same for everyone in the future.
Wish they were playing in Brisbane.Sunday night I'm pretty sure.

Done dealio
I live 2 hours from Sydney but start work early so won't be heading down.Wish they were playing in Brisbane.
Got it. We will "watch the space" for now and as soon as he gets game time we will "attack the space"
I actually think it's going to get to 30k.
We've got just under 4 weeks to go and there's going to be a flourish if he gets some game time, then when the transfer starts to go through you can expect it to explode in here.
Where can i find this thread?
I didnt take part in the thread but read it. It is literally the funniest thread here. Even better than the Ashley Cole photoshop thread.

I admire your optimism, and when he signs I hope your efforts in driving this are recognised...
Wow I thought their pre season tour went on for another couple of weeks. Seems like the official tour ends on the 16th.
Here are their fixtures.
6/08 Indonesia
10/08 A-League All Stars (expected return of the king)
16/08 LionsXII & S-League Internationals
23/08 TBA x2 opponents in a local tournament played in Italy.
My take on the situation hasn't changed. We are the only ones in for him and that has given us the confidence to wait it out. It gives him time to get back to training and give him every chance of being fit enough to complete a medical.
It also explains why we were briefing the press that we are not interested in him - because we want to keep it all very low key and make sure nobody else gets wind of it and makes a move for him.
