If we are really playing 3 at the back we need at least two more
Well yeah, "at least one" suggests 1 or more. I agree though, I'd love us to get in 2/3 more centre backs but with Van Gaal being (rightly) fond of Keane and Blackett I could only see 1/maybe 2 coming in.

if there is a chance there is an issue with his knee we'd be better leaving it - guy on Twitter (i know) was quoting the Chile manager talking about how Vidal was only at 50% during the World Cup

Been lucky with Ruud, screwed with Hargreaves

Vidal and possibly Strootman would represent big gambles considering the transfer fees

What is it with some of the top CMs nowadays having such serious injuries? Gundogan seemed destined to be one of the best, and now this back injury has slowed him down massively. Vidal could miss out on one big move now because of his knee.

Meniscus Surgery.

What to expect after surgery.

Your surgeon may recommend that you do not move your knee more than absolutely necessary (immobilization) for 2 weeks after surgery. This may be followed by 2 weeks of limited motion before you are able to resume daily activities. Physical therapy should begin right after surgery. But heavy stresses, such as running and squats, should be postponed for some months. You must follow your doctor's rehabilitation (rehab) plan for optimum healing. Afterwards, you may still continue to have pain and require more physical therapy or, sometimes, additional surgery.

The timetable for returning to walking, driving, and more vigorous activities will depend on your success in rehab.

I think we really should stay away from this, its looking too risky as Vidal underwent surgery just 5 weeks before Chile's first game at WC.

My fellow muppets please forgive me for my faltering. We're signing Vidal. Of that I'm sure now
Look who's come crawling back! A bit of radio silence and you well and truly bottled it

While it sounds risky, we have to take into consideration that Vidal is a world class athlete that runs a lot as a center midfielder. He's well-versed at keeping his body in top shape and knowing what he can and can't do. And while he did take a risk playing in the World Cup he didn't re-injure himself so I would take that as him knowing his limitations well. If he feels his knee is fine and the club is happy with the medical synopsis then we should go through with the deal. Players like Vidal don't come around that often.

not to quell the dream, but this may mean nothing if we think he's crocked.

Its all right, we have our back-up option right there. Woody will probably go "Vidal? Who is that, thought we were negotiating for Paul all this while."

They aren't all like that though. I had acl and meniscus reconstruction a month ago and I was allowed to bear weight right away, whereas Vidal's was probably a minor meniscus fix. Also it's completely different with professional athletes, the recovery time is probably about half as long as normal because they are so fit to begin with and work on physio every day.

Anyways, usually I think meniscus injuries aren't a huge deal. They can be, but so can anything really. Suarez had the same thing done a month before the world cup too.

Take that back right now. It makes too much sense and doesn't help one bit. But but Vidal's doc said he could play

This situation with Vidal's knee just makes me feel bad for him. If he's set himself back by playing at the world cup, surely his doctor or whoever is responsible for assessing his fitness should have been firmer for his own good?

Guys I'm not going overboard here but

---------------------da gea----------
----hummels -marquinos - Evans--
Rafael ---------------------di Maria
----------Herrera --Vidal---------
--------------mata--------------
----- ----- messi ----Ronaldo------

I honestly think we'd get back in top 4
Definitely a Europa league spot.

Be gutting for us if we can't sign him due to past injury.
He'd be my new hero

Woodward is doing it by typewriter. He started in June so should be done around the 28th of February

Then he'll realise that you have to feed a piece of paper into it first and then he'll have to start over. Should be ready in time for World War XIII.

Maybe I'm been thick, but if he's not training with the squad then is he really likely to play much on this tour and prove anything what so ever to LvG?
They'll throw him on, and if he doesn't collapse hopefully we'll give him the medical. Which he'll then probably fail.

Seems a strange one, surely we can't assess him on this pre season tour at all, a proper medical would show up any issues, if he fails it just pull out of the deal then, all very odd.

Well if rumours are to be believed then it seems that medical test he had when he got back to Turin was for us as it was suggested at the time. It ties in with El Mercurios earlier reports on his knee what with us asking for his medical records etc and now Sampaolis comments.

I think he went on tour because van Gaal wants to be sure and wanted time to assess our squad before sanctioning the move. It explains the constant stance from Juve about he's happy here but if an official bid comes in we will consider blah blah

They couldn't do that to us. Imagine them announcing we had signed Vidal then a few days later saying he failed the medical.
