Arturo Vidal

Those feckers just want to blame it all on Vidal. Which raises the question why we take so long instead of bidding those 40 or 50 millions already.

Because we're swinging it round to our favour.

It's quite beautiful how we are taking the upper hand actually.

Had we gone in with a bid mid July, they'd have said "no way he's the best midfielder in the world and we're not selling him" and we'd be looking at £60m+

Now the case is that he's a player that wants away, it's a lot harder to negotiate in that position and we're going to get him for less than £50m.

Well played.

It's pretty simple really, we aren't frigging after him. It's so obvious. I am the biggest Vidal muppet but as every day goes by, every day we don't bid, every day only foreign bullshit comes out.
I want him to play for United so bad, but it doesn't take this long to at least bid for a player.
I am keeping the faith but reality is taking over the situation

Ah damn that Ferguson, it's all his fault.
Never said it was Fergie's fault, but we have no chance of winning the league with the squad we've got. Already we've got 3 defenders out and if we go in to the season with the same problems we'll be nowhere near it.

It's almost as if they are inviting us to bid for him. Really hope we take the chance and with little to no competition to sign one of the best CM's around we surely can't pass it up.

What perplexes me most is people seem to genuinely get angry and het up over transfer activity, or lack thereof as though any of it even matters.

It matters enough for you to be debating it on an internet forum!

Obviously people are concerned when you put such a lot of your passion into supporting a club, said club has a terrible season, top players leave, and we don't seem too fussed with not only replacing them, but trying to get back to the top.

I'm caught up in it because it's progressed this far so I feel as though I need to see some kind of closure, whatever that may be. I won't be upset if we don't get him because I don't actually think there is that much wrong with the depth of our midfield in the system Van Gaal intends to play.

Which 3 defenders are out?

I dont expect us to win the league. Main goal is to be back in top 4.

Not according to our manager it isn't.
Van Gaal isn't stupid he knows our team compared to the likes of City, Chelsea and possibly Arsenal isn't good enough to compete for the title. But his also a stubborn man at times who'll want to prove this team is better than what it was made out to be last season.

That doesnt mean we wont buy any more players. He is stubborn but no so stubborn not buy a few new players which we need.

Sorry, what?
It's pretty obvious what I'm saying. People trot out this "we don't sign this type of player" line, when the reality is this club is very different now to the one we used to know. Last year you could have said we don't employ foreign managers, but now we have. You could have said we don't sack managers and give them time, but we did that too.

The club has changed. You can't rule anything out based on what we used to not do.

FFS Marotta just say you are not selling him and let us be free. Why the "if he tells us he wants to leave" shit.

Because they want to sell. Everything from Juve is negotiating bullshit, trying to position themselves. Yes they are being asked but how much are they talking about it?

We still haven't changed in the respect I mentioned though? The club obviously evolves, but it still remains to be seen if we'll spend big money. This has as much to do with the ownership as it does the clubs tradition, so it's without doubt a valid point.

We're Manchester United.

We will sign Cavani instead

It still doesn't hold weight anyway. Most of the goalkeepers we signed after Schmeichel were supposed to have been world class, and from abroad. And the likes of Stam and Vidic were both world class players, from abroad. We sign what we perceive to need, when we need it.

We've beaten our transfer record, and came within a couple of million of the previous one, on four different players in the last 18 months. Fellaini, Herrera and Shaw, all just a couple of million off our old record. Mata as our new record signing. It's pretty clear we aren't afraid to spend money.

When do they return? :D

But seriously, why are we continually sitting on our hands here? We're either idiots or not interested.

Or Van Gaal was telling the truth about wanting to give the players a full pre-season's examination before buying anyone. I expect us to get moving on targets once we're back in England. If Vidal is one of them, I don't see a sale being finalised until well into Juve's pre-season. Which, despite what some people seem to believe, often happens. RVP was mid-tour when we bought him. Berbatov had already played a PL match!

I can't see any reason why Marotta would keep giving these open-ended statements if there wasn't some possibility of someone buying Vidal.

We'll agree to disagree. Woodword, for me, still has a lot to prove and has yet to deliver. It remains to be seen if he will.

I'm not saying we won't sign players I think we'll sign 2 defenders but it's the midfield I'm most concerned about.

Also, I commented on spending big on world class talent from abroad? Veron is the one example I can think of.

He's delivered four players around the £30million mark in two and a bit transfer windows. How many ~£30million players did we sign in the two/three transfer windows before that?

I'll be out working in my garage, I expect the headline to have changed when I'll come in for the match.
