Arturo Vidal

So essentially, if he doesn't go on tour, it looks like it's on.

If he does go on tour, strap yourself in as this one's going to run for the next month (or at least until the player reveals his intentions).

It very much seems like he is desperate for the move rather than we are. It's like some insane courtship thing through the media!
Which is better than last season when we reeked of desperation to sign anyone who had looked at a football. Then ended up shame faced with Fellaini, paying way more than we should have and trying to sign contrao on loan (on friggin loan for gods sake) and a ridiculous last minute attempt to sign Herrera!
We are back in the driving seat and top class players are clamouring to sign for us instead.

With all this smoke, there has to be some fire, right.... right!?!

LVG's presser kind of killed my inner muppet, though.

I wouldn't read too much into the presser to he honest he ain't going to spill his guts about transfers. Just have to see what happens when we get back from tour.

He will go on tour of course. Otherwise there would have been news about it so far. Only way he is not going on tour is if we are announcing him before Monday.

This saga must be a nightmare for Juve fans.

You just know that the Juve equivalent to yourself "This one is dead in the water", is someone continually posting on a Juve message board somewhere "Forget it guys he's already left".

La Stampa is also based in Turin. So maybe Juventus briefed to make the player look desperate to leave rather than they wanting to sell.

 Most likely

How stupid are people if they are thinking Vidal or his agent is trying to spread reports through media so that we make a move for him.

If he doesn't go on tour I expect they will say that his knee is troubling him.

According to the very reliable La Stampa who have links within Juve

Arturo Vidal . Juve do not want to give the Chilean, but he is looking for the way out to go play for Manchester United, willing to grant him 7 million a year of engagement. His attorney, Felicevich, is expected in Italy this weekend to meet Marotta and try to place the blitz. The Italian champions will lower the barricades only with an offer of over 40 million

I like this article and therefore have decided to believe it. €40m they say. Just a matter of time before the price is right!

I got slated for posting this about 200 pages back.

It's not happening. I want it to, but it's not.

More and more people are coming around to this fact.

Nothing has changed during the course of the last 200 pages that you suddenly decided to quote yourself as if the club or the player has come out and categorically denied it. It's still as ON as it was the last time you posted that opinion as some sort of fact.

Just looking for attention really. Some people must be desperate for this not to go through now they've gone balls deep in saying he won't join. Weird.

How stupid are people if they are thinking Vidal or his agent is trying to spread reports through media so that we make a move for him.

Who said that? They are saying that this might have been fed to the media for a big last contract for him.

So Juve will announce the squad for their tour today? Now this will be interesting

Can't see him being left behind at this stage given LVGs comments, we might be interested in him but it can't be expected to happen soon I reckon. But not end of the world, RVP went on tour with Arsenal before he came to us.

How on earth do you come up with that ultra positive last line?

There's nothing more positive about Vidal now then there was a month ago.

Only it won't.

Think about it logically. He's not a United player, no announcement has been made yet, an official bid has not been declared so right now he is still a Juve player and therefore they will name him as part of the squad. It's no biggie. It doesn't mean nothing is happening, it doesn't mean he won't come here.

It just means that until it happens he is a Juve player and will be treated as one.

You gotta admit that that's how it's looking to most people at the minute. Particularly when there hasn't been an official bid yet for him! Maybe that's how we are conducting all our transfers from now.

It was as easy as typing it in. :D
Who knows what's going on, again i am doubtful it's happening but we shall see.

Fair point.

All in all though, I can't seem to keep the optimism up. Guess I'm a muppet with potency issues. The reasons I have a problem convincing myself that the Vidal transfer will actually happen are the following:

- Veron is the only continental *star* I can recall us ever purchasing. Definitely the biggest muppet moment of my life.
- LVG has previous with regards to not wanting big name transfers like when the Bayern management had to force someone like Robben on him. He's a "process trainer-coach" who seems to prefer working with what he's got.
- LVG mentioned the other day that when he's looking for players he prefers young (and lernin) ones.
- We fecked up the last summer which was the first under Woodward, so why not this one? Watch this space though.

Still we know LVG admires Vidal and that he would be a perfect fit for us. Woodie seems like a bit of a muppet. He should just sign him and then discreetly have him show up at training one day as if nothing happened.

For what it's worth La Stampa is owned by parent company who also owns Juve, and I have said all summer Vidal could be sold

Agreed that would be brilliant if that happened! I'm on the fence about what's going to happen you just can't call it at this stage.

I have to flag this up again, but it was my understanding that Allegri has already ruled Vidal out of the tour so he can work on his fitness.

It was back when Allegri had his second press conference and all those translations came through. One of them was along the lines of....

"Vidal will not play on the tour game, it is understood he will stay to work on his fitness"

Now It could have been translated wrong, but it came across as a huge indication and a huge positive notch on our radar. Somehow, for some reason no one noticed it, the media seemingly ignored it.

Unless of course I read too much into the quotes. I can't find them now otherwise I wad post them but I'm sure someone has them.

After that BeIN sports ''di Maria close to agreement with United''debacle I remain unimpressed by news reported by outlets that are owned by owners of club x or y.

Swap him with Fellaini and pop one of those wigs on when LvG is shouting at Shaw, or something.

Ah, I almost forget.. El Mercurio with a double page spread on Arturo Vidal today. Yey...

El Mercurio are reporting that the talks between Fernando Felicevich (Vidal's agent) have intensified

El Mercurio are also saying that Vidal has stated his intent to leave Juventus and go to England. Juventus are demanding at least $60m.

El Mercurio also write that Felicevich has travelled to Great Britain to sort out Gary Medel's transfer to Inter, but also to talk to United

They are hysterical aren't they Imagine the meltdown on their if the deal happens.

85 pages without a single quote from the player or either club. I can imagine the meltdown once it doesn't go through...

Let the meltdown begin...

Think Pogba going to Chelsea would be the ultimate meltdown here. Getting one of our former players (and yet another top class midfielder that we've been crying out for) and also ending any potential move for Vidal all at the same time.

Que the meltdown ...

The meltdown in here (and the Twitter thread) is just hilarious. All the usual suspects at it as well.

Imo it's clear we're still negotiating. Evra to Juventus is STILL pending as well.

I think its a standard negotiation tactic with club briefing media to bring his price down.

Nonetheless meltdown here has been hillarious and its staggering many people buy into talk of us baulking at the reported figure mentioned.

Honestly the meltdown on here if Vidal doesn't sign

Full on meltdown is in motion.

Vidal meltdown by some transfer muppets??!?!?

Some of u are so clueless

The words of the Juventus boss are meaning nothing

Juve deny Vidal for sale, Caf meltdown, floppy cock everywhere like that Magaluf vid.

I agree I think you will get 4th. I cant see you finishing above us City or Arse, but I can see you regaining control over a weakened Liverpool. Its not just the squads its also that the top 3 squads are quite settled and will have the same managers, whereas Uniteds wont and a lot of new faces are coming in and out. Vidal is an experienced player who would probably bed in quickly, I think Shaw and Herrera may take a bit longer to show their true quality. The main thing is you give time to LVG and dont start going into meltdown if its not quite as good as expected. I think expecting anything higher than 4th is heading into trouble.

The meltdown would be horrific.

I won't be that upset if this saga ends with him staying at Juve. The real meltdown, however, will be if he leaves and doesn't end up here :nervous:

This is the week I think the muppet meltdown will commence. If Real Madrid are genuinely interested it's over. I would love Vidal at United but can't help but think dirty Madrid are going to sneak in. There name was only mentioned recently and it would be like them. His holidays are nearly up and it's decision time. By this time next week we will know if he's coming. I hope we go all out for him though and give it a go. Chilevision will be banished forever if he doesn't come.

I love how you keep an eye out on the Scousers Steve, especially in the Rawk thread. I might visit the forum next season in a pressurised situations. Just to see the meltdown for myself. :)

The Liverpool rumours are getting stronger. I presume that's pure shite. If we could have got him and he went there, there would be a meltdown of epic proportions.

If that bullshit quote had come from someone with 1000 followers saying we had signed Vidal and it was done and dusted, everyone would have dismissed it as bullshit immediately. When Vidal said on Chilevision that he was aware of interest and generally implied he may move, everyone wanted to see the source video before they would believe it. As soon as people see some shit on twitter that it's off from a complete nobody it's meltdown!

I'm still confident he'll leave Juve and I can't see any other bigger team than ourselves being in for him.

Imagine the meltdown on here if Woodward repeats Kenyon's antics during the Ronaldinho transfer saga and Vidal ends up in City or Liverpool.

The journo from La Stampa said that City and Liverpool have also made offers ... This is make it or break it for Woody the sheer meltdown that will happen if he snubs United for City/Liverpool would be insane.

Juve's last press conference led to a mini meltdown I'm expecting more of the same Vidal is happy, we don't sell our best players, he wants to stay ect......

No , someone quoted some old quotes from Marotta and meltdown began - status quo, Vidal's agent arriving tonight

Exactly, for the second time in a week, people go into meltdown mode based on nonsense quotes.

Then que the meltdown.

I'm expecting a meltdown when Allegri denies the rumors of a verbal agreement.

It won't be as bad if he stays at Juventus but I'd predict a CAF meltdown if he signs for one of our rivals.

Not even worth thinking about, it would be a complete meltdown if by some miracle that actually happened. The caf definitely wouldn't be able to take the strain!

Felicevich is in Manchester according to Tuttosport.

Could you imagine the meltdown if he came out and said the same old bollocks, no value nada nada. Oh, the uproar.

I'm looking forward to the meltdown once the summer ends. This is going to be good.

If we don't get in another midfielder cue cafe meltdown.

Other Vermaelen I've got feck all clue who else we're interested in.

"Meltdown".

Has anyone ever actually seen one?

El Mercurio then go about quoting British and Italian media that a deal could be struck this weekend between United and Juve for Vidal.
