But it's bad news for those of you who want to see Vidal in a United shirt next season.

Rob said: "I can only tell you what United have told me - and that's not to get too excited about it. They haven't been in contact with the player or with Juventus. They're under the impression the speculation is being driven by the player and his agent."
Seems to be in tune with everything that's happening so far with constant speculation from the Italian and Chilean media and nothing from within England.

According to the very reliable La Stampa who have links within Juve

Arturo Vidal . Juve do not want to give the Chilean, but he is looking for the way out to go play for Manchester United, willing to grant him 7 million a year of engagement. His attorney, Felicevich, is expected in Italy this weekend to meet Marotta and try to place the blitz. The Italian champions will lower the barricades only with an offer of over 40 million

(a) we have no obligation to kill the rumour if we just aren't in contact with the player. It serves no purpose for us
(b) If the player's agent is fuelling speculation, there is some hidden agenda. So it makes no sense for the player to deny the link

maybe his wants a better last contract after his world cup exploits, not unheard of, messi gets a new one every year, Vidal is most likely only going to have 1 last big contract left in him, i'm hoping he really wants to come, but looking like all hot air at the moment,

For now i think its ArturOff, unless something happens today, if he jets off to tour, forget it, Vidal would have to be desperate as RVP to join us then, which i think is highly unlikely

When was it ever ON? Seriously? Not a shred of evidence to suggest it may aside from newspaper bollocks. The Caf have managed to convince each other that it could happen by putting spin on every quote and report out there. It's comical to read every day. Certainly makes my morning brew at work more enjoyable.

If we don't get in another midfielder cue cafe meltdown.

Other Vermaelen I've got feck all clue who else we're interested in.

Looks like just re hashed stuff from other reports. How much ever reliable a newspaper is, its no use when they are not reporting from their own sources.

Even when we're out of the top four, we're still the team with the longest running transfer saga.

La Stampa are extremely reliable and there Journo's have the inside track on Juve. Juve fans on twitter take them very seriously.

Tuttosport today!

TORINO - (ee) Hands off Arturo Vidal. The people black and white does not want to see him emigrate to Manchester United. One of the heroes of the three consecutive championships, in fact, is in the hearts of fans and rumors (but now Allegri and keeps saying, "Stay with us"). Outside the hotel venue of the retreat, at the Lingotto, the fans call on the Chilean and begging not to go away. He smiles and makes photos with everyone, signing autographs and does not seem at all upset by the situation. And Vinovo the usual question repeated (remains at Juve?) Replied: "SIIIII." The agent Fernando Felicevich, meanwhile, is in London, undertook to establish the agreement of Mauricio Isla with QPR and that of Medel away from Cardiff to joining Inter. Then, you take care of King Artura and the fear of the fans is that contact in the course Galielo Ferraris oferta United's offer irrinunicabile (ranging from 45 million to 60 million, with the fantasy that follows the reality).

Didn't you also say that Chile source El Mercurio were reliable?

Why haven't Juventus sat Vidal down in front of the press to kill this off?

So the English press are still getting briefed that we are not interest while the Italian and Chilean still think a deal might happen. This is on and off all the time, feck knows what's really happening.

Utd learning from fabregas feck up and making sure they're not seen to fail if it doesn't come off

The same reason we aren't. Maybe it's all just paper talk.

Why not kill it off then ? Or give a concrete denial.

It's persisted so long with so much smoke and got to be a nuisance for fans and even the squad.

Doesnt make much difference. It will still seen as such by the majority of fans. A bigger one than the Fabregas feck up as well as the Fabregas deal was clear as a day never going to happen. Which made it more embarrassing than a failure really.

British media ie Ogden, Ducker etc. reported same thing a week or so ago. Nothing new.

ArturON

He ain't coming.

If he was it'd be wrapped up by now. Biggest club in the world comes knocking, you leave your vacation early and sign some papers.

Yeah, maybe we were interested but something has changed.

He's one of the best in the world. If we wanted him, and wanted to get him signed and avoid last season's mess, it'd be agreed already, done and dusted, and he'd be sent away on vacation.

It's not.

I got slated for posting this about 200 pages back.

It's not happening. I want it to, but it's not.

More and more people are coming around to this fact.

Man Utd are pressing relentlessly for Vidal and have the no7 shirt reserved for him, GDS.

There has not been a single peep out of the club about this at all.

We are keeping our cards very close to our chest.

Oh god NO so it's going to be left open even if he does go...this will go down to deadline day, get comfy.
Yes. Remember, Nasri went with the Arsenal squad to Asia for their pre-season tour then joined City on deadline day.

I hate these sagas but oh well...

Juve fans were thinking it would be over if he went on tour but then La Stampa delivered the bombshell about Vidal wanting to join Utd and now they're worried. La Stampa for them is like Utd fans see Ducker, Ogden etc.

This tweet from a couple years back from David Amoyal tells you all you need to know about La Stampa.

Honestly? Wow that is excellent news. But I mean I'm back on the fence with this one now we know it could happen whilst he's away but more likely when he comes back. Today is seen as a deadline, a real last ditch chance to get the paperwork done so I was growing ever more pessimistic. But now we have such a reliable source and the fact that yes, he could indeed sign whilst on tour it's just like going back a month and saying "hey, I heard were bidding for Vidal"

Better get used to checking this thread almost hourly.

We absolutely need to sign an Arturo

If not Vidal, then someone else
