Arturo Vidal

Would prefer us to tell Juventus to name their price for Pogba. Bring him home and let's pretend last season never happened.

Me too. In 4 years time we can sell him on for a club record fee. Makes alot more sense.

I cant see us getting Vidal. I'd really like it, but I just cant see it happen. Not if Madrid is also in the running. The only way I can see us getting Vidal is if Yaya goes to Madrid, which isnt a completely dumb idea from a Madrid POV.

Reports on twitter said Ed Woody was going for another Spanish Midfielder and someone from the Italian League.

Why bother when in two years time or less he'll want to leave again? If he wants to leave Juventus after just two years after fighting his way out of here initially, he doesn't seem the type to stick around long. I bet before he's 30 he'll have played for about 5 or 6 different clubs.

It would be a great sequel to the Casilero del diablo ad. Rooney: "they say, he is a legend" then the camera switches to Vidal walking into old trafford in a Cantona manner! Collar up and everything

Definately very Anelka esk..Class act tho and resale value will only go north so could be fine for us both.

Nothing really concrete yet, why would Juventus sell?

Their debt has increased yet again and they don't really have funds to get their own targets. Tuttosport and Gazetta have said as much and they're closely linked with Juve. He's seen as a prize asset that they might consider cashing in on considering their other talent in CM

Err Ronaldo. This lad is going to be one of the top 3 players in the world most likely and like it or not he will itch to get to barca or real at some point.....

Ronaldo is pretty much the exception to the rule. What other top player who we wanted to keep hold of have we sold in the PL era? No-one significant that I can think of. The few departing top players have been people Fergie decided to get rid of, like Stam, Beckham and van Nistelrooy. And we have more financial muscle relative to other rich European clubs now than we've ever had before, so are even less likely to have stars seduced away by a big paycheque.

This is garbage Im afraid. You'll find every foreign import taken to this club who becomes a top 5 player and attracts the attention of Barca or real would most likely want to leave. What other player apart from Ronaldo was a top 5 player or even near it in recent times at united! Then your talking about Pogba who if you think would stay with us you are clueless to the man he is!

What a load of shite. You can't name a star player other than Ronaldo in the PL era who we've wanted to keep but has been sold anyway. That's irrefutable evidence as far as I'm concerned.

And are you trying to suggest that in the entire PL era United haven't had any star players that other teams would've wanted to buy?!

And when was I 'talking about Pogba'? I've not said a word about Pogba. If you fancied mentioning him, I'd say that we're talking about star players like Ronaldo or the origin of the discussion, Vidal. Not youngsters who'd never played a PL game for us and left on a free.

Ferguson always had the policy of getting players in who were passionate about Utd and had the right character to look at the bigger picture. I'd prefer us to stick to that and not sign out-and-out mercenaries.

....so can you name anyone?

Err name a player which we have had who they actively courted and failed to get? Fletcher....Clevs....Bebe (oh no he choose us over Real)....Ronaldo the only real world class foreign player considered top 5 in world football we've had in 15 years and because of this you think we can keep hold of anyone these days....ha

Thats why Welbs, Clevs, Fletcher and many more are still mainstays of the team/squad.

Completely agree, he's not worth the hassle.

Pogba is like the chick you got with before she finished with her boyfriend, you'll never be able to trust she won't be doing the same to you. Except that's already happened and we're considering going back with her again.

Yes, and it will all be for nothing.

In the unlikely event that we are in for him, and he wants to come here, nothing is going to happen before Monday at the earliest.

If you're not interested then stay out of the thread. Don't piss on my corn flakes. And it's far from it being 'unlikely' that we're in for him. In fact we are. Both Tuttoport and Gazetta have confirmed it. Ducker from The Times (very reliable with United news) has indicated we're monitoring the situation. van Gaal is a self admitted admirer of the player.

Leave us be here.

Generally they publically court players they have had some hint wants to come, meaning it's not really a safe assumption that they always get their man? It'd surprise me if they never enquired about Scholes, Giggs, Keane, Rooney, Vidic, Ferdinand, Evra etc. considering their tactics of going for whoever is doing well in the premier league.

The argument is about Top European players from the continent choosing to stay at United over Barca or Real......

 feck's sakes, what a shambles. You think Ronaldo is the only player we've had in the PL era who foreign clubs might have wanted? Not Cantona, Rooney, Rio, Vidic, Giggs, Scholes, Keane, van Persie... the list is endless.

Why do you keep going on about 'top five players'. Are the top five players in the world the only ones top clubs ever try and buy?

How do you know those players I mentioned couldn't have gone? Considering Madrid's usual practices I'd be really surprised if a good few of them hadn't had the option to go to them and stayed at United instead.

I'd actually think we could move into title favorites or 2nd favorites with our news signings and those 3 you mentioned, the CB being Hummels!
With our squad wed be outright favorites no doubt about it. Wed power through most teams and outclass the big boys.

Chile need to lose tomorrow for him to go back to England, pass his medical and sign. So Monday at the earliest IF we were to sign him (big IF).
Lads be realistic here, both the Shaw and Herrera deal was worked on well before the world cup even started. Our next signing will take a while I would imagine. I feel a lot more confident now anyway compared to a few weeks ago now we have wrapped up 2 good signings.

How do you know?

The Italian teams were just as big back in those days too, and they were routinely in for our star players. Fergie said Juve were interested in Giggs for years.

I think people have lost sight of this whole conversation origin! The point was Top European Players from the continent like Pogba would not show loyalty to United if Barca and Real come courting them. In relation to us buying Pogba and him attracting their attention in 3-4 years...and him being the money grabbing wench he is etc etc....People need to read back or not comment!

Players like Pogba would be loyal to no one. Don't know why he's being used as the standard.

Your initial point was that all top players from the continent would leave in Real/Barca were in for them. Which is a ridiculous assertion.
