Left back imo we're ok. Shaw and James look like they'll push each other all Season and that's a good thing, keeps them both sharp.

James (along with Blackett and Keane) are all entirely untested at Premier League level (or any top flight) so it remains to be seen how they'll do. All 3 have looked good in pre-season. Would be a huge risk to have them 3 as our only cover players for CB and LWB though.

As I said, we need an experienced CB. I don't have any qualms with using James as backup, as Van Gaal said "there's no point buying for the sake of buying". Van Gaals always been a manager to put faith into Young players, "premier league tested" is a bullshit excuse imo. Give them a go, if they aren't ready buy a replacement in January. If they are ready, then you've saved yourself a transfer fee. He'll utilise all 3 in the first team squad imo, we'll still buy another CB imo, but I don't expect any other additions at the back except perhaps a RWB.

This is dead in the water. If we're yet to bid we clearly aren't interested, Juve leaves for pre-season Sunday if he wanted the move he'd want it done before hand.

It seems more like a high school dance, all the Boys (D.O.F/C.E.O) and the Girls (Players) are standing on the opposite side of the hallfway, and the teachers (Agents) are in the middle trying to get them to dance :lol:

I'm sure there is a lot going on in the background but its annoying at the lack of movement.
 
Apparently Juventus are supposed to land in Jakarta already on the fourth of August according to their preseason program. Just do it Ed! We have space to fill!

I agree there is so much noise coming out of Chile and Italy something is happening, but until those close to the club start to join in I won't get too excited, like I have said many times I hope we sign him, he's the type of quality we should be looking to sign.

I'm not much of a transfer muppet either, and like I've said I'm not convinced this is happening, but it seems pretty clear that the British press who were our mouthpiece last summer are being kept in the dark, for whatever reason, this summer.

Maybe some of the stuff told to them last summer was off the record and they broke the trust of whoever was talking to them (new guys in the job, maybe some naivety), and people at the club have learned lessons. Who knows?

You think Vidic can play in a defense with a highline that we look to be using now? I dont. In fact, I hated how deep we used to defend just to cater to Rio and Vidic's diminishing pace.

Even though fletcher is a shadow of the player he once was, cleverly has some good ability's, but he is above average player, while carrick is not going to be fully match fit until November and at 33, the engine room is high priority. Even though the defence is short on cover, there is players there when match fit that could be a stronghold. But no way is the engine room third priority, it is the main concern. Herrera and cleverly, herrera fletcher, is some pretty weak CM pairings.
 
It is high time we start selling Vidal shirts like Real-Barca do for their signings before t is confirmed. That seems to expedite a transfer.

My theory, and it is only a theory, is that there was some naivety last summer. New Chief Executive and a manager not used to so much interest around the club he manages. I think they said some things they thought were off the record and were burned by it, and have since shut up shop, or deliberately mislead the guys who betrayed their trust.

We all love a conspiracy theory, right?

Can't understand how some on here think this is on :lol: I want Vidal as much as anyone else here and can't understand how we've yet to make any sort of bid
 
El Mercurio have progressed with their news, deal is close they're reporting.

Evans said this in today's MEN "I'm sure we will sign another centre-back or two but that is always the challenge at Manchester United," and Van Gaal has already said he needs defenders so I would imagine we will be bringing them in, who they are feck knows.

I'm sure Blackett and James will play a part this season as well.
