Speaking during transmission Sky "Special Cup", the journalist and expert on the market of satellite network Gianluca Di Marzio talked about some of the names in orbit Juventus. Many hypotheses: "The Pescara took Mathias Pogba's brother, Paul, who played in Crewe Alexandra, the third tier of English. E 'a winger. The fact that his brother is playing in Italy increases the chances of future permanence of the French Juventus. Pastore could be the ideal player for a change form Allegri, however, that initially seems to start from the 3-5-2. chapter defense: Nastasic rule it out as a southpaw and Juve looking for a replacement for Barzagli, Savic could fall into Isla transaction with Fiorentina, but it remains the preferred Manolas but is estimated at more than 10 million dall'Olympiakos. former Juventus Yago Falque is close to Genoa, who is treating him from Tottenham. Vidal's hope that remains : Manchester United is interested, but no offers. Juve wants indecent, but there are no signs neither the agent nor the player will start. Felicevich is in Italy on Monday, but there are no meetings scheduled ".

Eh?

in the greater scheme of things, an extra 10 million is pocket change to the Glazers. Thats the problem.
To put things into perspective, if i had 990 pounds and saw a TV that i really really want that cost 1010. I would just draw an extra 20 quid out. No questions asked.
Now we're comparing £50million football transfer signings to buying a tv. Brilliant.

Intrested but haven't put in a bid? WTF Is this she loves me, she loves me not?

Come on Woody!!

We are such a bunch of planks when it comes to signing players. Stop siting on your fecking hands and actually do something.

Players won't sign for you because of the power of your mind.

I'm starting to think Ed thinks players will sign just by doing this...

Go look at our squad? ok what if jones smalling and herrera pick up injurys? who is available in our squad? I would not even call anderson and fellaini options. Yea I am being spoilt when we have only 5 defenders in our squad with experience, 4 of them are injury prone, heck rafeal is already injured
With if those players get injured, as well as Vidal and our other midfielder and our 3 new defenders? Where are Vidal, Herrera, another midfielder and 3 new defenders going to get games if everyone stays fit? We have youth players for a reason. They fill out the squad when we need them to, otherwise why even bother having a youth setup?

If his agent has been there since Monday according to the di Marzio report, why hasn't a meeting been arranged yet? Surely this fiasco can be seen as a bit of a priority?

You would have thought with them being around the game all their lives, that they'd do the research just because of their love of the game. If my full time job was punditry I'm pretty sure I'd spend 90% of my waking day watching and reading up on football. Not because I had to, but because I'd be doing that anyway if I didn't have my damn non football related job taking up all my time.

Millionaire ex pros don't think like that unfortunately. It's just a fun thing to do at the weekend whilst being paid a kings ransom. There is some out there who do take it very seriously, but not many.

If we are interested then we will sign him imo. We will offer him wages he can't refuse and offer Juve a bid they will accept for a 27 year old. Not to mention how big a club we are and heading into an exciting period under LVG. If we don't sign him then I believe United didn't try hard enough. If he was at Barca, Madrid, PSG, Bayern then its a different story.

I'm not worried about the lack of bid. When's the last time our initial bid wasn't accepted? When Moyes was fecking about last summer with Fabregas, Herrera, etc.

Since then we have brought Mata, Herrera and Shaw in (Fellaini too?) with the initial reported bid being accepted. Clearly that's how Woody works now hes settled into the role and learnt from last summers errors. A figure is informally agreed before an official bid put forward. Then everything moves very quickly from there.

 Because it's not paid in buttons. You're talking about multimillion pound deals, requiring lawyers and accountants and numerous other professionals, who draft contracts and payment clauses and other stuff. It's not like deciding which brand of beans to buy.

Jesus, the simplicity football fans try to attach to deals amounting to hundreds of millions of pounds.
Thanks--always like to make people laugh. I understand that we're talking about a multimillion pound/Euro deal. I've been involved in drafting proposals for projects with much more at stake--and have been able to craft bids in a week. It's not like teams enter transfer markets de novo; presumably there are models and templates used in other transactions that can be modified for any deal.

The way the papers characterize the process is odd to me.

Has it occurred to anyone that the reason we are still "interested" or "preparing a bid" without actually bidding is because the foreign media have been making bollocks up and we are not looking to sign him?

Hopefully a journo questions van Gaal soon so we know for sure.

Could be any number of reasons, but apparently the same agent acts on behalf of Isla, who is also looking at a move this summer. He acts on behalf of Gary Medel too who is being linked with Inter. Hopefully Vidal is his top priority, but he does have other clients unfortunately!

I said the same last week. Bids only alert the whole world your heavily on the case. I just want a fee agreed behind the scenes with as little attention as possible! He's a class act, but apart of me wonders if 50m GBP or reported similar is top heavy for a 27 year old. I'm being an idiot and I shouldn't care but I guess there is no pleasing me!

You know part of the reason Madrid and Barca get the best players? It's partly cause they pay what it takes. Being 'top heavy' is cop out talk and part of the reason why we've missed out on some big players....

About 50% of the folk on this thread.

If we are interested then we will sign him imo.

Like everybody here I'm in the dark however I'm inclined to agree that IF we want him there's a good chance we will. If we don't then then it doesn't really matter.

Several seasons ago fans were are about debt and being lumbered with debts and now no one gives a sh+t if we add 200m to our debt this window. I want the best players but you can see how football fans are as fickle as it comes.

Good shouts, I forgot about them.
So Di Marzio is Italian, presumably? And his sources will be too? Isn't it more likely he's doing the player's/Juve's bidding, so to speak?
Hes the most credible Italian source around, really.

At this stage how many of the British journos are saying we're in for him? Is it just Steve Bates and one or two repeating reports from elsewhere?

Someone pointed it out at the weekend, but to me it looks like he wrote the "Vidal move back on" story at an opportune time when everyone else reckoned it was off. That'll sell papers/generate traffic to the site. He seems pretty sensible generally but if we honestly told him we're back in for Vidal why would we be telling everyone else we're not? It doesn't make any sense.

If you think those youth players can replace what ferdinand and vidic and create the depth at the club, you having a laugh. What youth players coming through? especially in midfield, you saying they can walk into the team and solve all our problems? everyone staying fit, we are still short on players, and its called depth. Rafeal is already injured, we need a back up or someone better, shaw is 18 he still needs someone to keep him on his toes. Has for midfield, take away carrick and herrera, its a pile of shit, cleverly anderson fellaini fletcher options that would not get into any top PL or european squad, but only ours. So even if everyone stays fit, we have not got enough quality to challenge for the title. Go look at real madrid, their current squad just after winning the champions league, they go out there and strengthen from a position of strength, its what the biggest clubs in the world do. So instead of the FM jibe, have a look at how outdated the clubs transfer policy truly is. Only MUFC these days could possibly enter auguest with 5 first choice defenders, when 4 of them are injury prone. No way will we challenge for the title with this squad, we be lucky to make a top 4, with such thin options

United are not on the up, so when a club the size of MUFC finishes 7th, you got to make a statement. For me using the youth setup, is just telling us all we are not looking to truly spend big, just hope our academy bails us out. Its fantasy to think the youth team players can fill out the squad depth, just goes to show how tight the owners are

If one of our players was non committal in interviews and the foreign press kept linking him with a move away most people on here would be convinced he was leaving.

Right. Italian source. So why would we assume he knows if we're interested, given that it's likely he'll have been told that by either Juve or Vidal. And neither of them have any incentive to lie, do they?
He's been reporting for most of the summer that Juve don't wish to sell and hasn't before said that we're interested, as far as I'm aware. He's not your usual mouthpiece to pursue agendas with.

Not many teams go from 7th to challenging for the title with a new manager, 4-5 new playing faces and a complete system change. The same system which Mancini tried and failed to implement with the best squad in the PL..by some distance.

Di Marzio has been reporting up until now that there has been no contact between Juve and United for months regarding Vidal.

It's the hope that kills.

Like last season, each game we hoped Liverpool would mess up, but it wasn't so bad when we'd accepted they'd win the league.
Then when they didn't, just

erm...give up hope with Vidal, and if it then happens...

If one of our players was non committal in interviews and the foreign press kept linking him with a move away most people on here would be convinced he was leaving.

Right, all it takes is the player giving a "I want to stay" quote and it's off.

Not many teams go from winning the PL by 11 points to 7th with virtually the same squad but we've forgotten what the reason was.
Sometimes I wonder why some people just don't go off and support whoever's winning at the moment.
I know who I'm supporting and not jealous in any way shape or form of other teams, imagine how depressed they'd be if they supported Chelsea, City, Arsenal or Liverpool
