Did he really say "we have Fletcher". F'ck me

"Rather buy 2 players that can do a great job, rather than one you're not sure about and we perhaps don't need, we bought Herrera, we still got Darren Fletcher in the there blah blah blah De Jong is available for less blah blah".

He obviously hasn't been on here recently.

are we all in relative agreement..

if he goes on tour with juve, it's over. if he doesn't board the plane, he's leaving juve?

"We don't need him, dissapointed in the World Cup, we have Fletcher and I would prefer De Jong"

Please Ed, don't listen to him.
Jesus Christ. I really worry when people around the club have that opinion. They obviously haven't watched us recently, or are completely retarded.

Off to the De Jong thread!!!

no offense but the herrera, mata and shaw are big transfers. 50 million for luiz, 80 million for bale and so on, these are grossly inflated prices.

Half of you lot are turning into the Liverpool fans we regularly mock on here.

So essentially it all boils down to if he gets on/off the plane? Olly/jeston, do your fine work on this bad boy.

I'd be worried if we haven't heard something by this 2nd August deadline that's being touted around. That deadline originated from Tuttosport though I think, so isn't necessarily the be all and end all. Could just be some Italian journo putting 2 and 2 together

A lot of ex players who become pundits hardly do any research before shows. Take the money and run kind of approach.
You would have thought with them being around the game all their lives, that they'd do the research just because of their love of the game. If my full time job was punditry I'm pretty sure I'd spend 90% of my waking day watching and reading up on football. Not because I had to, but because I'd be doing that anyway if I didn't have my damn non football related job taking up all my time.

Shaw and herrera should be his bread and butter signings, clause in contracts, buy them out. That is his job is to be ruthless and get the required signings, its july 30th and still nothing, has each day passes by he is failing once again. It is quiet simple, we need 3 defenders, 2 midfielders, how difficult is that woodward to understand?
You're like a spoilt child. What age are you?

About fecking time Di Marzio gets involved here... he's probably more reliable than most Chilean papers. One thing though, I can't find anything on his Twitter account...

Ben Thornley on MUTV suggesting we should get De Jong and spunk the rest on a defender. He also admitted he's never watched Vidal play. Why don't pundits do their research before coming onto a talk show. Clueless.
This guy must be an idiot of the highest order.

So was Ronaldo I guess Ben thinks he's rubbish as well, hopefully this isn't the club telling MUTV to play down new signings.

To be fair, the Shaw and Herrara deals were done over a month ago. What have we done since then regarding transfers? All transfers should be done as soon as possible and give the players the chance of some kind of a preseason. All we do is talk about transfers, how we have so much to spend, etc. All talk at this point. Other teams get the deals done, not talk about them.
We've spent almost £60mil, but what have we done since then, eh? Eh?

VIDAL - The Red Devils have already spent € 36 million for the Spaniard Ander Herrera, before making another major investment in the field, they want to make their cash from the sale of Fellaini, who do not fit into the plans of new coach Van Gaal. After that Manchester United will give the decisive assault Arturo Vidal. Pending a bid for 50 million euro, meanwhile Juve midfielder passed the ball to Chile, called out of hiding she wished to stay or go. His agent Felicevich is expected to Turin to define the situation, which threatens to become a soap opera.

Edit: Feck, that was calciomercato, not Di Marzio's website.

None of us know how transfers work. I highly doubt just bidding for the sake of it is any good.
The bid should, ideally, be made after the fee has been agreed. If we are talking to Juventus in some way and negotiating a fee, why just throw in a bid for no reason other than to appease some fans on forums?

Why don't we get Vidal and then actively seek a buyer for Fellaini? Its not like we don't have the money. There is more incentive to get rid of Fellaini once we get in a new midfielder.

You're like a spoilt child. What age are you?

Go look at our squad? ok what if jones smalling and herrera pick up injurys? who is available in our squad? I would not even call anderson and fellaini options. Yea I am being spoilt when we have only 5 defenders in our squad with experience, 4 of them are injury prone, heck rafeal is already injured

we'll only bid after speaking to all parties. Agent, player, club etc. It's not like you just rush in and go "right lads, €40m, whaddya say?".

Chill.

I was just thinking the same thing today.

I know it's all BS--but the process reported in the press about the whole Vidal saga is curious. Are we to believe that a team spends weeks and weeks "preparing a bid," whatever that means? It's not like this is D-Day where thousands of men must be maneuvered into place. Seems like you decide on a fee and salary for the player-why it takes longer than an afternoon is beyond me.

Then--are we really to believe that Vidal said to his agent: hey, I'm going on vacation. Unless there's a death in the family I don't want to be contacted. Moreover, while I'm away I'll be so engrossed in reading War and Peace that I won't give a second's thought to my future at Juve. That'll have to wait until I get back. And-oh, whatever you do don't speak with Juve, because they may get mad and fire me?

To top it off, when he gets back from vacation he makes an appointment to talk with his club, which apparently is the first time the issue of a new salary and transfer is raised. So Juve have to meet and decide on transfer fee because they haven't even considered the prospect of selling Vidal.

It's a joke. For the life of me I can't figure out what really goes on--but it can't be the farcical process portrayed in the press.
 Because it's not paid in buttons. You're talking about multimillion pound deals, requiring lawyers and accountants and numerous other professionals, who draft contracts and payment clauses and other stuff. It's not like deciding which brand of beans to buy.

Jesus, the simplicity football fans try to attach to deals amounting to hundreds of millions of pounds.

Has there ever been an account of what happens in a high-level transfer? I'd be curious to know. Has The secret Footballer written about it?
