Rest in Peace
Does anybody have any idea of the process of buying a player???
From identifying the target, 'preparing' the bid, submitting the bid, at which point is money transferred bla bla bla??
I, for the life of me cannot work out how things take so long.
I was just thinking the same thing today.
I know it's all BS--but the process reported in the press about the whole Vidal saga is curious. Are we to believe that a team spends weeks and weeks "preparing a bid," whatever that means? It's not like this is D-Day where thousands of men must be maneuvered into place. Seems like you decide on a fee and salary for the player-why it takes longer than an afternoon is beyond me.
Then--are we really to believe that Vidal said to his agent: hey, I'm going on vacation. Unless there's a death in the family I don't want to be contacted. Moreover, while I'm away I'll be so engrossed in reading War and Peace that I won't give a second's thought to my future at Juve. That'll have to wait until I get back. And-oh, whatever you do don't speak with Juve, because they may get mad and fire me?
To top it off, when he gets back from vacation he makes an appointment to talk with his club, which apparently is the first time the issue of a new salary and transfer is raised. So Juve have to meet and decide on transfer fee because they haven't even considered the prospect of selling Vidal.
It's a joke. For the life of me I can't figure out what really goes on--but it can't be the farcical process portrayed in the press.
