Woodward goes into negotiations with a coin purse
...and an exquisitely prepared bid!
Woodward goes into negotiations with a coin purse
Costs did take a long time to finalize but the difference is that there was never any real doubt they would get Costa (atleast to me anyway), while with us there is always huge doubt.Look how long did it take Costa's and Luis' transfers to complete and compare it to Herrera and Shaw. If anything the matter in which we're dealing with is far better than before.
Like the £37mil in coins for Mata, the £27mil we threw at Southampton for Shaw, and the £28mil in loose change we triggered the clause for Herrera with?Man City go into negotiations with briefcases full of cash
Chelsea go into negotiations with a cheque book
Woodward goes into negotiations with a coin purse
The last point makes a lot of sense. Right now none of the English medias have a clue what we're doing in the market. We are dealing with transfers (and alot of other things) far better than before, but we still have a long way to go.
Chelsea identified their weak areas and bought the best available to fill the positions (Cesc, Costa and Luis)
They got World class replacements in a timely fashion, which is how I hoped we would conduct business this summer, but again... as long as we have LVG this ship has a captain.
exactly.Costs did take a long time to finalize but the difference is that there was never any real doubt they would get Costa (atleast to me anyway), while with us there is always huge doubt.

Are you suggesting that people should not be discussing a transfer they desire because of a possibility that the manager doesn't want him?Are you guys forgetting that there is a possibility that Van Gaal actually doesn't want Vidal here?
As our club refers to itself as 'the biggest in the world', this should be a given. In todays market, these prices are the norm, I am talking about the BIG transfers. I also think that had we not been so damn shite last season, we would have also started haggling with even the price of these three players.Like the £37mil in coins for Mata, the £27mil we threw at Southampton for Shaw, and the £28mil in loose change we triggered the clause for Herrera with?
Some of you guys talk a big pile of balls at times.
Not imo , only way he's not coming is he just doesn't want to leave. No "LVG pulled the plug" this time. He likes the player and wanted him before he moved to Juventus. Are you guys forgetting that there is a possibility, Van Gaal actually doesn't want Vidal here?

He proved from Herrera and Shaw deals that he has learned a lot from the debacle of last season and now has a lot more composure. Whether its enough to get the absolute best players in the world we've to wait and see.I do not know if woodward knows what he is doing

Don't be silly. This is all part of our plan to blindside some other team for one of their players who hasn't been linked with us and then Bam! it makes absolutely no difference to the price or the other teams interested and we realise we've spent all summer thinking ourselves into a corner. The fact that we can't possibly be planning on going into the season without a new midfielder, and there's practically no noise about anybody else, makes me hopeful that this isn't the case.
If you HAD to gamble your house on the outcome of this which would you choose?
Vidal stays at Juve...
Vidal signs for UTD...
Vidal leaves Juve but not for UTD...
Now that sums up the entire situation.
Maybe we already have signed Vidal but Juve doesn't want us to announce right now? So that they don't have to overpay to teams knowing that they just got a hefty fee? Its all IFs but that isn't an impossible scenario. I'd be worried if we haven't signed someone by 10th August but right now we've to play the waiting game.Shaw and herrera should be his bread and butter signings, clause in contracts, buy them out. That is his job is to be ruthless and get the required signings, its july 30th and still nothing, has each day passes by he is failing once again. It is quiet simple, we need 3 defenders, 2 midfielders, how difficult is that woodward to understand?

Why has it all gotten so quiet?

Another 3 defenders and 2 midfielders??? Stop playing Football Manager. City total spend on 3 players £18m this summer and have really closed the Mangala deal quickly. Herrera and Shaw are nothing??

Does anybody have any idea of the process of buying a player???
From identifying the target, 'preparing' the bid, submitting the bid, at which point is money transferred bla bla bla??
I, for the life of me cannot work out how things take so long.
To be fair, the Shaw and Herrara deals were done over a month ago. What have we done since then regarding transfers? All transfers should be done as soon as possible and give the players the chance of some kind of a preseason. All we do is talk about transfers, how we have so much to spend, etc. All talk at this point. Other teams get the deals done, not talk about them.
Last year people moaned about Fellaini last minute signing, fair enough, this year we get 2 in early and still moaning because we have signed anyone for a few weeks, do we have to buy a player every day ? Secondly Chelsea have only signed 3 players not 25. City haven't done much, Arsenal signed Sanchez, sure we're not finished yet but we need a midfielder and a CB - that's all.
And I hope Vidal is the midfielder

I can't remember, were there a lot of reports saying we were gonna sign Van Persie? What I do recall is that I didn't believe it one bit and filed it under paper bollocks until I saw it myself on Sky Sports News.I'm secretly hoping we make an announcement tonight like the one with RvP
'United agree deal with Juventus, player to move subject to medical'
