Arturo Vidal

So basically they decided to disbelieve United's briefing on vidal because Twitter and foreign media like El fecknutio and Gazetta Dello Cock keep writing that we are preparing bids or agreeing terms (verbally).

How is that in any way convincing you that United are pulling out the legendary smokebottles (always mentioned, never happened) again? Screens of smoke, here we cum.
Phew, we can rest easy then as we know neither parties have EVER given misinformation to us or the media before! Do you practice being an idiot or does it come naturally to you?

I have a feeling it's Vidal's agent peddling this 'United is interested' story with the Chilean and Italian media in order to scare Juventus in paying him a higher wage.

A year after he signed a new contract?

He signed a one year extension in December (less than 9 months ago)

Just like we've been monitoring the Di Maria situation for like a month.
We've been monitoring Di Maria for about 2 months now according to Ducker. Probably the best monitoring ever seen...

Not a chance, he would then be signed up for the next 5 years on something similar to what we are offering (200k) reportedly that would blow Juve out of the transfer market for the next 3-4 years.

It'd hardly be that surprising. If we said to him "We'll pay you £200k a week" his agent wouldn't be doing his job if he didn't use that to at least try to leverage a better deal for him with Juve.

It actually would be. Juventus are skint. Doing this at the club that is able to give you more could make sense for the player, look at Rooney. but at Juventus WHEN vidal himself said that Italian football is financially not strong?

I reckon he's pissed off waiting around for Woodward to get his immaculate offer sent in. but woody needed to stop by Homebase to get those coloured stickers you get by the till on sale, to make sure every right-hand corner of the offer sheet is playful. he wants to get the right message across.

His agent would be whoring him out to more clubs if this was the case IMO.
Not necessarily. It may be that he doesn't want to leave - just extract more money. A constant newsflow, even from one interested club, may be enough for Juve to offer him that raise. Not to mention that some outlets have been reporting that the agent has "multiple offers."

I have no clue whats going on behind the scenes. I don't trust anyone reporter. But "it was never on" is probably the best explanation that ties everything together.

You can bet your arse he will, hes a journalist, its his job.
He said all they keep getting told by United is not to believe it

''The word from Manchester United is contradictory, and it has been for a few days,”

“The message we have been getting is not to take any notice of the reports because it’s not happening.

“The noises coming out of Chile and Italy are so strong though that something may be going on behind the scenes.

“We’ve been told there is no direct contact with Juventus. Obviously that doesn’t mean there can’t be contact with associated parties. It seems to be a story that won’t go away.”

Because you set a precedent for having to respond to rumours in the future.
Well we don't have to respond to every rumor but this one has been going on for a couple of months. I think we need to put to this if it isn't happening.

If his Agent is trying to get more money for Vidal then United can blow Juve out of the water in wages.

In anticipation of Vidal's announcement later today, bout to rub one out and go to bed here in California. When I refresh this thread in 8 hours, expect it'll surpass 400 pages and sticky keyboards everywhere.
Any news? Judging by only 16 new pages since I went to bed, I'm guessing not. Can someone kindly recap me with the latest?

IF Vidal is needed to ask to leave it leaves him in an awkward position, this would be the biggest contract he has been offered in his life and most likely the biggest he will ever receive.

We are in a situation where we need to rebuild with big players, if we miss out on him and go for Strootman he wont be the top priority anymore, well esentially have his replacement leaving either staying at Juve for ultimately less money or going somewhere like Bayern who wont pay him anywhere near what we would offer or Madrid where he would be competing with Kroos, Modric, Illarmendi, Alonso and currently Khedira where he would get no where near the wage we are offering simply because they arent that desperate.

He needs to play this cool, if hes happy where he is in world football than fair play, he has the chance to achieve what so many rarely do. Its a hige oppertunity and I firmly believe it would be silly of him to pass it up. He will always return to Chile or Italy at the end of his career but even if its for a pay day he should be seriously considering leaving.

All signs point to the only thing holding this back is the official bid, I dont think we need to worry about the politics of him requesting to leave. All he would simply have to do is say "I love Juve, its part of my life, the club the fans. However I have been offered to play for one of the biggest projects in world football and the offer was a once in a lifetime opportunity, One day I will return, thank you to all the fans" It wouldnt be so hard for the board or the fans to swallow.

He's not going to get much more out of Juventus salary wise, maybe he will win another Scudetto if he stays, but he won't win the CL if he stays, he's 27, does he have ambition to try the PL, coming to the point where he either stays for good or makes the choice of leaving to earn more money and win other things, (and before someone says we're a mid-table side who have no chance of winning anything, yeah ok forgot the last 23 years, just remember last season)

From a purely financial point of view, passing up any kind of loyalty bonus shouldn't be an issue for him. Ideally he doesn't want to miss out on it, but compared to the (literally) tens of millions of pounds we'd pay him over and above what he's on at Juve it's not relevant.

The Vidal saga will continue until United or Vidal say it is over. Juve, Marotta and Allegri kind of have to say what they have been saying.

This is the bit that is telling to me.
The reports that have been coming out over the last few days is that Vidal's agent has the offer from UTD (and subsequently is working on UTD's behalf). So the above would be 100% accurate in the we have not directly dealt with Juventus (as we have been dealing with his agent).
Maybe I'm another clutching at straws here but I have a feeling that this is going to run and run until we as a club put it to bed once and for all.

Isnt there a press conference at 4pm for Juve? Expect more comments of a similar style. Id be shocked if we heard of any movement until tomorrow. Unfortunately it seems they are playing hard ball, if LVG is serious he could continue but I see him pulling the plug although his recent comments are encouraging regarding improvements.

Woody should just finalize this shite for the sake of the people in this thread.

How hard can it be? Grab fistfuls of money and throw it in the general direction of Turin until Vidal signs the blasted contract. Just fecking do it!

But no matter how much Juventus can offer, we can surely offer more than that. So why not move to us? Yes we don't have UCL for a year but surely Juventus is in no better position to win it than we are.

Thats a hilarious mental image, "in the general direction" I imagine the headlines, Fiorentina and Napoli in bidding war for Messi as surprise funds materialise in their accounts.
