Arturo Vidal

I guess then what the agent tells them in the next couple of days will either mean this is on or off.

I've always doubted this would happen and still do. Though the only small thought I have is 'why would the agent travel all the way from Chile (presumably) just to say that the player wants to stay?' Unless he's after another new contract of course.
His agent represents quite a few Chilean players and would need to be in Italy to sort out the possible departure of Isla, Medel to Inter etc.

I disappear for a couple of hours only to come back to a thread with a complete change in tone (from ecstatic to philosophical) and its name changed.

Is this transfer really that far off now?

Absolutely nothing has changed. Vidal's agent due to discuss with Juve this evening.

I really don't see why they would feel the need to offer him a pay rise when he has a contract with them til 2017 and apparently they have the option to extend that to 2018.

If they are serious about keeping Vidal, they hold all the powers as they have him until he is 30 so even if they lost him on a free then they'd have had the best of his peak years and should they still want to keep him they have 3 years to agree the bumper contract which you can't imagine he would turn down as he approaches 30.

I know this is not happening. I never thought it was. I think it could happen if we paid the money, but I know we won't. Yet I still keep checking here and twitter for updates every couple of hours. Fecking stupid. It's taking up too much time!

Nothing has changed since you last checked

Interesting that you post the Mail. The only reliable journalist they have has us to bid for him and probably get him this week just 2 or 3 days ago.
James Ducker reported the same thing aswell that we are not interested

Good lord, Vidal and Juve both trying to get the other to be the ones to initiate the "break up" so that they don't look like the bad guy. Can you imagine the conversation when he sits down with them?

Juve: Do you want to leave?
Vidal: Do you want me to leave?
Juve: We didn't say that. So do you want to stay?
Vidal: I didn't say that. Do you want me to stay?
Juve: If you want to go, we'll let you.
Vidal: If you want me to leave, I'll go.
Juve: So, do you want to go?
Vidal: Do you want me to go?
Juve: We asked you first.
Vidal: I asked you second.
Juve: They offered us a lot of money
Vidal: They offered me a lot of money, too.
Juve: So.
Vidal: So.
Juve: What do you think?
Vidal: I dunno, what do you think?
Juve: This is going nowhere.
Vidal: So you don't want me to go anywhere?
Juve: We didn't say that.

And then it continues like this for 3 hours, neither will commit to anything, so he stays resenting Juve because he didn't double his salary by moving, and Juve resenting Vidal because they missed out on some much needed funds.

We must stop with this 'reliable' nonsense. The terms of the game have changed. Ogden, for instance, was out of the loop on the Hererra deal. They don't have a clue.
I agree with you, but the poster I replied to seems to ignore the fact that we briefed the media just like we did with Kroos/fabregas, not interested.

But we don't know whether that's the truth or not. Generally, United have been a lot more closed off this summer.

How do I ignore that? That's been discussed for about 100 pages. The question is whether we just want to believe the English press that we are not interested, as there are various contradicting reports everywhere, or whether we really aren't. Just because you posted an article of a complete no name means nothing when some of the few reliable outlets are reporting the opposite. (plus the Italian and Chilean press)

Again, I'm not saying this will happen, but nobody knows what's going on at this stage. We keep our cards close to our chest this window.

My take on this all is that we've still not heard anything particularly conclusive for or against this transfer from day one, despite the 300+ pages here.

Those quotes don't prove much either way. 'I really think he'll stay.' 'We don't want to sell him.' 'He hasn't asked to leave.' He sounds like a man trying to convince without committing.

If I was forced to guess at gunpoint, I'd say we've informally discussed the possibility with them, not offered enough to make them sell, and now they're playing it so that if he stays they can say they were never willing to sell, but if we come in with the big offer they're hoping for, they haven't made total idiots of themselves.

But again, I've not seen anything especially convincing from either perspective.

Too much sense being discussed in this post, you're outnumbered here mate. :)

Seriously though, until Vidal himself puts these rumours to bed it's on like donkey kong. These quotes from billy baldy moratta would do nothing to convince me he's staying if I were a Juve supporter.

What's the advantage ? I mean, we won't get Vidal for cheap - he just signed a new contract and he is a fan favourite and apparently loves the club tattoo etc.. If we are interested, what's holding us back to make a bid - Real Madrid signed Kroos when he was out in the World Cup, if we believe the papers PSG is about to sign Di Maria (still on holiday).. We are not in a position to play poker while chasing a player like Vidal (no champions league)..
I will love to see hime here, but it all seems to me that Vidal's agent is trying to get hime a pay rise. Pogba is about to sign a contract (according to media) surely Vidal knows his value and wants to be the top dog.

It has been said before. NOTHING negative happened today.

In fact, those in the ArturON camp should take comfort at those comments by Marotta. They will definitely sell, if a biggish offer comes.

They will simply do the "offer too big to refuse" if it arrives and if it doesn't, "he was never leaving".

Drama Queens, settle. Over to you Louis.

 I love this place. All of you getting your knickers in a twist because Moratta said he hasn't asked to leave. Of course he hasnt, yet anyway. Felecivich will do that. And if reports are to be believed that would be tomorrow. I'm calm. It's still very much ArturON

You don't believe that do you? Maybe he's waiting to judge a few positions, but I'm sure he wants to strengthen the defence immediately and I'd imagine after seeing his midfield options early on, he realises he needs another cm of Vidal's quality.
Yep but he is still going to assess his squad. Obviously we will be in talks but I don't think any deals will be done until after the tour.

I think that this won't happen. But just because they are denying it doesn't mean that. The reason I don't think it will happen is it looks like a bullshit shit storm that has got out of control, nobody reliable has even mentioned about this.

I think LVG is waiting on Strootman and may go for him in a few weeks. Also, he may go in for a RWB...I can possibly see us fighting it out for Cuadrado. That one makes sense and the rumours won't go away on that one about us being in for him (Then again, there has been nobody really reliable on that)

We could also go all out for Hummels I reckon, that's right now though seems unrealistic.

So far nothing has happened today , only people quoting quotes and articles from 2 weeks ago which has led to muppet frenzy and the thread title being changed

Not really more than last week or yesterday or a couple of hours ago I guess.

But it's so incredibly fascinating to read this thread and all the mood swings that come with it. So completely random, yet so nice.
