2006 - Marcos Senna
2008 - David Silva

You forgot two summers of Torres. Amazing to remember the reaction when he signed for Liverpool. Transfer muppets were readying their wills. How could we win the league by signing a keeper and Carrick after losing Ruud...

I still can't work out where the goals came from.

Jeez, we're a transfer rumour car crash aren't we

The meeting will be held tomorrow, Gds newspaper will have the inside news as they have good sources in turin. They also correctly predicted de vrij to lazio alnog with the fee few days back. I think chances of us getting a decent glimpse of what is going on comes from tomorrow as the agent arrives in Italy. This will be done either way in next week.

That was one of my favourite summers of Alan Hansen. He was so sure the empire was over. Three years without a title, Van Nistletrooy gone, Rooney never gonna play with Ronaldo again...I won't miss him now he's gone but it was great proving him wrong year after year.

How could i forget?

Wasn't really a dream replacement but we were linked for months and months as a Stam replacement.

Yeah I searched on this forum. Some brilliant threads. Never guessed @Raoul had a bit off muppetism in him, but some of his posts in 2002 suggest otherwise  Although he liked someone else better than Hofland. Makes me appreciate this forum even more though, will probably be up all night reading brilliant posts from the past.

Hasn't Vidal said a number of times that he doesn't know if he's staying at Juventus? I'm not sure, but if that's true it really looks like Marotta's words mean nothing. Maybe it's the muppet in me talking but I don't think this is over yet.

My career in muppetry went backwards with the rise of Twitter. Before that it was still loads of fun.

The Juventus CEO backtracked from "hes non transferable" to "We’ll be happy to keep the player if he wants to stay" in the matter of minutes. Guess its all down to Vidal to come out and say whether he wants to stay or leave.

My take on this all is that we've still not heard anything particularly conclusive for or against this transfer from day one, despite the 300+ pages here.

Those quotes don't prove much either way. 'I really think he'll stay.' 'We don't want to sell him.' 'He hasn't asked to leave.' He sounds like a man trying to convince without committing.

If I was forced to guess at gunpoint, I'd say we've informally discussed the possibility with them, not offered enough to make them sell, and now they're playing it so that if he stays they can say they were never willing to sell, but if we come in with the big offer they're hoping for, they haven't made total idiots of themselves.

But again, I've not seen anything especially convincing from either perspective.

I guess then what the agent tells them in the next couple of days will either mean this is on or off.

I've always doubted this would happen and still do. Though the only small thought I have is 'why would the agent travel all the way from Chile (presumably) just to say that the player wants to stay?' Unless he's after another new contract of course.

Which would definitely be weird, given that he signed one 6 months ago.

If i were a Juve fan, these quotes wouldn't fill me with much confidence. I think it's still on. Please tell me it's still on!

My opinion remains the same. If Vidal wants to go they'll sell, but he'll have to do the pushing himself. The issue is whether a) he's prepared to piss everyone off in Turin since clearly likes the club and b) whether it's us he'd want to go to. If anything those quotes affirm that view.

I don't believe for a second were not still interested, I think that's just us trying to cool the gossip. After all when we've dropped interest in players like Fabregas and Kroos we've let the British press know directly. Same when it's just tittle tattle. This time they've just been out of the loop altogether. it does us no good to linked so intensively to a player were not interested in.

Absolutely. Though I still doubt the transfer will happen, that's the bit that doesn't quite add up for me yet. I'm not quite sure why the agent would be going to Turin (assuming he actually is) just to say 'yes, Vidal's staying.'

He's either leaving or getting a pay rise. Something is happening if the agent is in attendance.

I disappear for a couple of hours only to come back to a thread with a complete change in tone (from ecstatic to philosophical) and its name changed.

Is this transfer really that far off now?
