Arturo Vidal

So much for getting all our signings done before pre season.
Shaw and Herrera in so far was over a month ago and it doesn't seem like we're close to another signing.

Heading for another unorganised transfer window.

Presumably because turning up to training in a brand new United home shirt with Vidal on the back is more than frowned upon in Turin, and then mimicking the manager's every instruction back to him in a poorly executed Manc accent was apparently the last straw. To sum up, it's on.

That's the spirit, have a feeling that there are only a few of us faithful left

If you read my posts you'd see that I'm in great spirits.

The very fact he has to call a press conference to deny they want to sell him says it all. So much smoke right now for there to be no fire.

Simply saying he hasnt asked to leave. He might not even do that until the offer arrives, You lot are a Blot on the name of Original muppets of the caf.

But seriously what now? There are no other midfielders we are interested in but surely LvG want at least another new midfielder.. Or are we sticking with what we got?

To be fair, we don't know that at all. Nothing is being leaked out of the club. We were apparently interested in De Vrij according to the press but given he's just joined Lazio for less than £7m, I'd wager that was rubbish too.

oh well... Ando can become world class if he can stay fit, Cleverley deserves another season, Fletch will be like a new signing once he returns to his old form, Jones is Duncan Edwards etc.

I hope you're right mate :)

The exact same comments on here that happened 2 weeks ago when the manager of Juve made the exact same comments aswell   Comical

Face it. If we really wanted him in the first place, we would have put in an offer already. Absolutely no reason to wait till now or tomorrow or still preparing a bid next week. So that thing about journos saying we aren't interested could turn out true as well

So has Vidal day moved to tomorrow now?

Was always going to be tomorrow or later in the week, they will only meet today for the first time since his holiday. Obviously nothing would be agreed today, anyone who thought otherwise wasn't thinking clearly.

Van Gaal has said he will wait until after tour anyway so no players will be signed until afer August 2nd. We will still have over 2 weeks to get players in before the new season, and over 4 weeks to get players in before the window shuts.

He wants to blame it all on vidal. Its like the final prepration before vidal gets thrown under the bus, made the villan that he wanted to leave us. The silence from vidal and his agent is what keeps me interested.

"We'll be happy to keep the player if he wants to stay" - Why would he put it that way bearing in mind he signed a new contract last year? If they wanted to keep him, he would just flat out say there is no deal to be had with him and he isn't going anywhere. Simple. Tis obvious they are open to sell, but they want Vidal to ask for the move. Maybe so he'll lose some loyalty bonus or something.

It was never today because we're waiting for his agent to arrive tonight!
I was told it was today yesterday, so presumably it'll be Wednesday tomorrow!

I always thought it was going to be more of a Vidal week anyway. The tease wants to give us another week salivating over him

The agent will be the one making the demands, either for a better contract or indicating that his client wants to leave.

All these quotes seem to be recycled quotes from a couple of weeks ago, but have succeeded in producing a deep depression in this thread, apart from a few of us

Interesting, nothing has changed really, no more optimistic

But deep down in my soul, in my muppet epicentre, there is a bit of me saying that if Juventus is willing to sell Vidal, even NEED to sell Vidal, I nice way to avoid backlash from the fans and media would be to place the blame on the departing player...we don't need to sell, we don't want to sell, but Vidal left us with no other choice. Especially with rumours some months ago that Juventus needed to sell one of Pogba or Vidal due to financial restraints

Exactly.

For quotes that a bunch of noshers in this thread are going "THATS IT ITS OVER TOLD YOU SO SNEIJDER THAIGO FABREGAS" they really aren't that certain.

He's not saying "we are not going to sell him" he's saying "we have never made any plans to sell him".

"We will be happy if the player wants to stay" = Vidal has still not told them he intends to stay.

It's so clear that Vidal and his agent are shaping up to move here.

That's the key right there. This could have been put to bed long ago.

You don't believe that do you? Maybe he's waiting to judge a few positions, but I'm sure he wants to strengthen the defence immediately and I'd imagine after seeing his midfield options early on, he realises he needs another cm of Vidal's quality.

I am bored of this saga now, every summer we seem to be linked with that one guy who in the end ends up either staying put or goes somewhere else, I fear the same will happen again.

IF we really want him, offer Juventus a deal they can't reject otherwise move on, the season approaches closer every day and we are still left with a poor midfield.

You can add Ronaldinho in 2003 to that list mate.

It looks unlikely at this point. It's a shame, we could have really flourished with a ball-winner like him.

Hofland was one of our 'dreams'? Never really heard that one
Is there a thread about this somewhere in the history of this forum? My god, Kevin Hofland.
