If we could get both Vidal & Strootman (with Herrera already here) - our CM in a 4-3-3 or a 4-3-1-2 would be the best CM in the world after a settling in period.

3 box-box CM's that can do it all - is the ultimate muppet dream..

Why do i put myself through it ffs :D

Why would we need Vidal and Strootman? It's one or the other as far as I'm concerned and considering the crap Roma just pulled with their ridiculous statement combined with the fact Strootman's injury is among the worst you can get and will likely be a recurring one, I'd say forget about Strootman. He's good, but nothing amazing. We already have Herrera and Mata, I'm not sure why we'd take him out of the side. Even in Van Gaal's 4-3-3, Mata's role is still vital. As for a 4-3-1-2, I don't see why we'd change to that, it would limit our wide play even more. If we get Vidal, I'd say our midfield and attack are complete.

Where did i say anything about taking Mata out of the side? On the contrary big son!

Our CM needs reinforcements. Vidal would be a dream signing, but we need many different options there also. You cant just play the same system all the time & expect the same results. Cleverley & Fellaini arent up to it for starters.

Strootman would be fantastic - dont know why you dont rate that lad as highly as most do..

With a flat back 4 (in a 4-3-3 or a 4-3-1-2), we can use the full-backs as wing-backs - like we've always done.

Moral of the story, we need better options than we have already & its a long season. If we lose key players - it affects the preferred system.

Its gonna take atleast a season or 2 for LvG to get the team shaped with the personnel & style that he wants, or he could just spunk a shitload of dosh on players now & not have to worry about personnel later..

Fair enough on Mata, but I'm not sure how you'd fit all of Strootman, Vidal, Herrera and Mata in the side tbh. Too many midfielders imo. We need more depth, yes, but they should be relatively cheap and bargain players, not players like Strootman who will cost large amounts of money. I do rate Strootman, but at about £25m, which it seems we almost certainly won't get him for and combining that with a serious injury, which people seem to be glossing over, he would be a poor option to pursue imo. With a flat back 4 in those formations, our defence would be very poor imo. We couldn't use wing backs and we never used wing backs. Our full backs attacked and got forward a lot, but they were still clearly full backs. Vidal, a top cb (Hummels prferably), at least one backup cb (Vermaelen (aerial advantage) /De Vrij) and a backup defensive cm (De Jong) would be fine imo. Then, we could also get di Maria for either wing back slot, midfield option or second striker if we really are attempting to buy him. If we do get injuries we can change the system, but it's still better to have a strong first XI in mind. We already have very good players like Kagawa, Welbeck and, if we sign Vidal, Carrick likely to be on the bench. Though it's great to have top players to replace other top players, it's more important to make sure all areas of the first XI are top quality first and have some good backups lined up instead. I'd feel pretty confident with Vidal, Carrick, De Jong and Fletcher available for the more defensive cm position, Herrera, Carrick, Kagawa, Cleverley for the other cm slot, Mata, Kagawa, Herrera, Januzaj, Lingard, Rooney for the cam position and Rooney, van Persie, Welbeck, Young (most likely staying after performances so far), Wilson, Januzaj all available for the 2 striking positions. The defence is where the major investment is needed imo.

@ Tgsport_Chile: @ kingarturo23, Arturo, congratulations on your childhood team. If you ever need synthetic grass, do not hesitate to contact us. Slds.

Lets hope this ends this week preferably with Vidal joining United

Same salary to stay at Juve? Are we being used again by a player and his agent for a better contract?
I might be mistaken, but I think Vidal may have renewed his contract last year. For United's sake, you'd hope it's an ultimatum.

Not sure if it has been posted already but Fernando Felicevich follows Manchester United on Twitter. Might probably be due to him being an agent of Angelo Henriquez or....

Don't worry, this guy usually gets his sauces right.

Been following us for awhile, he also follows Rooney and RVP

No matter how well the "reported talks" go today, I highly doubt we will hear anything until tomorrow at the earliest.

The decisive day is upon us
Good luck to one and all of my caf muppets. My boss is on leave so all I will be doing today is pressing F5 on this thread. As I have repeated multiple times earlier, he should be more or less our player by 31st July. IT.IS.ON!!

I'm a complete Vidal muppet but usually when things are 'set to be decided on Monday' they drag on and on...
I hope we do find out today. I want him to come here so much!

It's all being quoted from GDS though

Tuttosport is saying 45 million euros + bonuses.

Anyway, not sure what to make of these 2 sources anymore.

Yeah, not sure i can see this being decided today. Maybe this week.

According to that @juventus__fan on Twitter, Vidal's agent hasn't arrived at Juve yet (the pic he posted early this morning was misleading). He says he's arriving tonight.

I must say, the agent doesn't turn up to simply say he's staying. He's either looking to move or looking to get a new contract. The reason I have hope is because it's well documented we can blow Juve out of the water financially.

I hope he makes the offer like deal or no deal but with just two boxes.

Today is the day.....

when no talks take place at all.....
Vidal does a ronaldo style criptic interview claiming only god knows......
a few ITK's tweet headlining BREAKING, MUFC and Juve agree fee...
everyone gets a giddy on.....
Woody ties up a sponsership deal with a Ukraninian air defence company....
LVG realeases a statement saying that we are looking at players but is happy with the squad....
Cleverley continues to believe he is not only a Spanish type midfielder but also an LVG type midfielder....

and then at the stroke of midnight, Sky sports report that MUFC have agreed, YES AGREED to sign some unknown Scandinavian ball winner from the Norwegian second division.
