Arturo Vidal

The most unbelievable thing about all this is the price. 35m GBP for probably the best midfielder in the world right now of his type.

"But Sunday People Sport understands a sensational £35million move is now back on and could even be completed in the coming days"

Sorry but I ain't falling for this again.

It's from Steve Bates. He's been getting inside info on team news on tour. He called Fletcher captain as well as Clevs as captain first I believe.

Whatever happens I hope it brings an end to the speculation. Whether he stays or we bid. Just want closer. Very frustrating saga
Agree with you mate, I hope it's put to bed by Vidal on Monday or Tuesday. But I have a feeling this will run and run...

Oh come on we have the thickest skin of all top level fans for muppet let downs!
Yeah we do. Us united fans probably have the thickest of the lot. All we've had is twatter shite and foreign rag rumours for nearly 6 weeks. Nothing reliable whatsoever. And whatever interviews have been made have misinterpreted. I would of been happier if Vidal came out and said 'feck you united' a month ago.
Major muppet window this.

Although I want it over, I am secretly praying we bid. Please Woody, please

I think the truth is like the rest of us you would wait until the final second of the window if it means getting him in. This could be the biggest muppet transfer in our clubs history. That sounds odd but its probably true......

It will be fecking huge, a world class CM. It's been a lifetime since we have signed one of them. Desperately needed. Instant hero.
I have a huge man crush on Vidal (football related of course)

What's the best way to sell a newspaper on Sunday? Reporting sport's news that no-one else is going to i.e. Vidal to United when everyone else has called it off!

I like KM and enjoy his posts but this stinks of very fishy fish! But I am back IN for the muppetry too

So... how about this theory.

LVG knows that despite his quality, nobody else is actually in for Vidal right now and it gives him time to assess his squad before he decides to drop £40m on him. With that assessment in progress I think its fair to say that Cleverley, Fletcher, Fellaini and an injured Carrick should be enough to persuade him to move. Not to mention an injured Strootman is seemingly on a long contract and an even more difficult transfer to put through.

Just have a little faith.

The deal makes no sense. If anyone expect herrera or Vidal to play a deeper role, they are mistaken. Herrera had the 2nd most threw ball in la liga playing further forward, while Vidal had scored 18 goals also playing in the same role. Unless we add a cdm to this midfield duo, this is not happening. To illustrate, we will have to remove our back three into a back two and change our wingback to fullback instead to stabalize our defensive:

Gk
Rb-rcb-lcb-lb
Cdm
Vidal-herrera
Mata
Van Persie Rooney

Width will be lacking in the system above and will ask alot of our fullback to provide it.

Not again... Wonder why Steve Bates hasn't mentioned anything about Vidal in his twitter account.

Oh my, Pexbo...

De Gea
Jones - - Evans - Smalling

Rafael ________________ Shaw
Vidal - Herrera
Mata

Van Persie - Rooney
Here's a novel thought.... both put in their defensive shift like you'd expect from B2B midfielders and Evans steps up as a sweeper while Rafa and Shaw drop back meaning it's a 3-5-2/4-1-3-2 formation.

Would make more sense if you play Evans on the left with him possessing the best left foot out of our 3 CBs. It would also be better if we play Jones in the middle as the most aggressive and advanced defender since he seems most suited to that role. Smalling and Evans can sit deep and snuff out the danger while Jones can rush in like a madman whenever Herrera or Vidal bomb forward and leave the centre of midfield exposed. Evans doesn't have the aggression or pace to fulfil that role imo.

Yep, this exactly. This would still be more solid than anything we've put out for ages, and obviously infinitely better in terms of the attacking contribution from CM. It's not as if we've ever played with a DM anyway. And Herrera and Vidal are both arguably as defensively sound as Carrick, compensating for a higher position on the pitch with a much higher work-rate.

Personally, I think we'd even get away with this in most games:

De Gea
Rafa Smalling Evans Shaw
Vidal Herrera
Januzaj Mata Rooney
RVP
With a fullback as defensively sound as Shaw next to him, Evans would still have quite a bit of licence to step up and fill any gaps which Herrera and Vidal might leave.

This is madness! 3-5-2 for the win guys, I'm loving our new formation! If Vidal signs we will have the perfect midfield for a 3-5-2 and then we just need Hummels to complete the picture. :)

Vidal - Herrera
Mata - Di Maria
Rooney - RVP
It's gotta be. It's just gotta be. That would be phenomenal.

Even if by miracle that Was pulled off transfer wise, I would bet a kings fortune that team will not be fit week in week out

Perhaps, but such is life my friend :)

So what?

Regardless, the more top quality players you have, the better you cope when one gets injured.

At the moment it's Herrera + Shite. What if Herrera gets injured?

It would be Fellaini + Shite.

Oh wait...

Didn't Vidal play CB for Bielsa?

Obviously that's where we should play him then. Something like

-----Smalling Vidal Evans -----
Kagawa Fletcher Cleverly Fellaini
-Nani ----- RVP -------- Rooney

just kiddin.
