Congratulations, muppets. This thread has just surpassed the Fabregas one and is now only behind these:

Berbatov's: Replies:19,384 Views:1,970,748
Thiago's thread: Replies:15,735 Views:2,624,398
Sneijder's: Replies:13,667 Views:2,398,517
Fabregas': Replies:11,971 Views:1,690,586

With hopes fading, I reckon Sneijder's is the only one left with the possiblity of being beaten, though.
We signed Thiago on July 14th ffs. Almost 16,000 replies even though it was all over 2 weeks into the transfer window?

You got a problem with that for some reason?

I wouldn't say I have a problem with that. I just don't see why when a player has already said he's not going to sign for us people still continue to get their hopes up yet it will only end in disappointment. See Sneijder, Ozil, Hazard, Thiago..... I could go on.

What's the quote in the thread title about then?

Did you see the actual video clip with the no no no when he was asked about United? It was far from an emphatic no I'm not going. Instead he sheepishly laughed like a nervous girl and brushed off the journo who hogged him. This is not quire Over yet since he said he doesn't know if he will stay at Juve

Dont worry guys there is no chance of Vidal going to Liverpool, If United and Liverpool were both in for him i could only see Vidal picking Man United over LFC 10/10 times if they were the only clubs trying to sign him.

Secondly Juve hate Liverpool with a passion much more than Man United ever will, if we sold our best player to Liverpool there would be riots outside the stadium for weeks about this.

Last but not least, Man United are a much bigger club than Liverpool i could never see him picking Liverpool over Man United. Now in my opinion i dont see him going to Man United this Summer, there doesn't look to have been any concrete interest in him other than papers spouting bullshit.

Also the £40 million rumoured price is well below his valuation, he is easily worth £60 million + I dont think Liverpool can afford that lets be honest here. Maybe they could afford that with the Suarez money but i could never see them spending that kind of money on one player.

So the chances of him going to Liverpool are actually less than 0% it will never happen in a million years.

I chose to believe LVG isn't an idiot, because idiotic is what it'd be if he wasn't considering another midfielder.

Idiocy and stubbornness are two different things. If he feels he can do a job with what he has got right now in midfield, then so be it. Us fellow mortals can see the midfield needs upgrading after so many years, but this is a top manager we have so we should just trust him in what he is doing.

I guess that is positive at least.

The only explanation to me is that he wants to see them playing a few times in the preseason games first. That is after all what he said in his first press conference. If that is the case, then it won't take him long to realise players like Fellaini and Cleverley aren't up to scratch.

Otherwise it is idiotic to me anyway. I would doubt that we won't sign another midfielder.

The best midfielder in world football is coming.

LvG is no stupid. He is a winner and he knows with our current squad we are not match even for Arsenal. Vidal would put us back in title contention singlehandly.

the signs are too obvious (for those who understand them). This is done.

 What?

300 pages on a player who's already said he won't be coming to us...
I know the title is mostly for the lols, but it does annoy me that people have that Vidal airport interview all wrong!

He was asked if he was going to Manchester. As if he's going to say "Yes I am actually, random annoying journo who has just jumped me as I leave arrivals" and so answered "no, no". As he leaves the airport and is then asked if he will be at Juventus next season he said "I don't know".

Of all the reasons to have no hope in this one, that airport interview offers more positives than negatives from a United fan's point of view.

A Vidal is an anagram of Alvida (goodbye in Hindi/Urdu) It's off lads :(

Don't think the interview sealed the fate as much as the fact that reliable journos have been hinting all along that we aren't in for Vidal(for whatever significant reason). Its only internet muppets who held onto bizarre beliefs due to random ITKs spreading bullshit. We may have inquired once but that doesn't make a deal done or prove progress.

As long as this drags on, it's becomes more likely he won't be signing for us. To be honest I'm becoming less optimistic by the day. I would imagine the club aren't haggling over a couple million so the two clubs could be a good bit apart in their respective valuations. I don't think he is worth 60m or anything around that figure.

I don't know, but I have a feeling this isn't quite over yet. I wouldn't count Mitten knowing everything that is connected with the club, even with transfers

To be fair Mitten said 'seemingly' LvG vetoed this. He's not sure it seems and that might mean that he still believes his sources even though the club have briefed media that we're not chasing him.

Well surely LvG is right about him having to asses the players himself first, no fun for muppets but it has to happen.
Also, surely we have to offload at least one and possibly two CM's if we bring in Vidal? Otherwise we'd have 6 or 7 options for 2 CM spots.

How can we offload players that haven't been judged by LvG and who is going to buy the players we don't want anymore? Combine that with the fact that we don't know how eager Vidal is on joining us.

And that would make the 'veto', though it really isn't a veto. It's just exactly like Van Gaal said in his first press conference. First asses the players a couple of weeks. Then see if we need to replace them.

Be sure to shout, "Hola Negro!" at every black person you meet. They love it apparently.

I'm not sure Mitten knows any more than us to be honest. Seems to me like he's guessing.

Haven't seen it, doubt he would come to United if he was to leave. The'd be huge interest in him and he feels like the type of guy with his eyes on money.

With Herrera proving he's more than capable of playing the attacking role in midfield we do actually need Vidal?

Yes I know this goes against Muppetry logic.

I don't know, why not read back through this thread and see what answers people gave the first hundred times someone asked this question. ;)

I went all back through to page 290 and found nothing.

That's 10 pages of dissapoinment and muppetry I have to read.

well by monday we will get either a rejecton (looking likely) or a come and get me plea (less likely)

The Italian press are a lot more optimistic than the British press over the possibility of Vidal coming to United. They have seen the whole video and think the no no no to Manchester was just Vidal trying to get the journalists to leave him alone. What's telling about all the Vidal interviews is he never says he is staying at Juventus. He reports back to Juventus on Monday and has said he will be talking to them about his future. Juventus is leaving for a tour of Asia on August 2nd and if Vidal is on the plane I suspect he will be staying at Juventus, but if he is not then he I suspect he will be sold.

Out of curiosity, is there any reason people seem to be expecting Vidal to have made a decision on his future by Monday? I've seen a few posts mentioned Monday. Seems a little soon after this return imo.

Well you can see the video a few pages back. And when you do see it you might realise it wasn't a simple no from him. The way he laughed was highly suspicious and his refusal to commit to Juve when he's had at least 3 opportunities to do so tells me a lot. Let's see what happens next week as he said his future will be decided then

To be honest though he will have more money on the table from other clubs and CL football and no doubt a better climate and city to consider.....we will then hear LVG decided against him before he signs elsewhere. Im a United fan but it would be an odd choice for him to come here with the clubs who would come into the frame. Hopeful but disbelieving is my state of mind I guess.
