We've bought a string of young talents in the last seven or eight years for decent money and few have worked out at all - Nani, Ando, Bebe, Zaha, Smalling, Jones (arguably, we'll see), Buttner.

We almost got Hazard, a truly talented young prospect but cheaped out last minute on the agent fee. He's worth double now, easily.

Our squad is in desperate need of established players. If you have enough quality and experience, investing in young prospects seems wise but right now we haven't enough first team quality. We need out-of-the-packet, instant quality now.

I know we have a month to go bit anyone feeling a tad anxious about out transfer activity? So quiet at the moment.

I just can't bring myself to believe that Woodward went so hard on the 'we're gonna bring in some big players' angle in that interview if he wasn't confident. Remember it happened after the key commercial deals were signed, and after the season tickets sold out, so there can't have been an agenda of that sort.

Plus it is quiet at the moment on the Vidal front, but then he's repeatedly said that he won't decide anything until he's back from holiday (on the 25th, right?) So whatever's happening we wouldn't expect to hear about it until then.

I'm cautiously optimistic we will do the required transfer business needed. I agree with Brightonian, that there must be something at least in the pipeline for Woodward to feel so assured over our ability to compete in the market and we are no longer briefing the media without a moments notice. Silence isn't necessarily a bad thing and with that in mind, moves can escalate quickly, as the Herrera deal did.

I think our activity will pick up around the beginning of August, but it's still a tad premature to panic.

Adnan, why don't you go outside and get some sun for a week, we'll post all the important Vidal tweets. Promise.

Broken ankle due to playing 5 aside footy, been house bound for afew weeks now.:(

where a support next time. The more you hurt your ankle ligaments, the more stretched them become and the more susceptible to a repeat injury unless you have surgery to tighten up the muscle. But if you strap it up and where a support it should help limit a repeat

I will definately take that on board

I stepped awkwardly, I went over the side of my foot

definitely wear a strapping and support. Because of the stretch your ankle will be more loose. The same happens with me. I went down straight on my ankle and the foot turned blue. Then i went down on it more times after that. Have to wear a support, strappings and can only play on grass or astro turf. I cant play on a basketball court because the foot sticks more to the surface and increases the chances of it going down. The pain is serious.

I've a feeling he's signed already and LVG is going to surprise us all by keeping him in the dressing room for the first half and then BAMN comes on to replace Cleverley for the second half!

Thanks for the advice mate, will definately take that on board.

I'd kind of imagined it was something more epic for some reason. I was thinking like an Eduardo-esk break. You should spice the story up a little imo ;)

That would be hilarious.

Agreed, after seeing Woodward's interview I am convinced that he has at least one marquee signing in the bag and is working on another.
If not, he is possibly some kind of kamikaze CEO and he doesn't strike me as insane.

This isn't a real saga until the official online club store have a No7 Vidal shirt hanging on the dressing room wall. I'm at 76.82% for this to actually happen.

Vidal numbers are 8 and 23... Its one or The other. (he used The 22 his first season at juve till deadwood gone)

today i went to machu pichu and pray to The ancient incas gods for this transfer to happen. On my way back to town, The bus brand or line, was just "23"... Can't be coincidence. No bs.

its happening!
