Arturo Vidal

Of course he's attainable. Would you say he wasn't if Barca or Real were interested?

£60m should do if. Knowing us though, we will bid 2008 level fees.

Can we for once overspend those twats and offer to Juve (and Vidal) more money? Hopefully.
yes, because Vidal would rather come here than go to Madrid...

I mean, apart from bigger wages, bigger history, more fans, bigger stadium, better weather, Champions League, better players to pass to, more chance of trophies and the Spanish language...what else do Madrid really have to offer?

If we offered more than their first bid they will just keep outbidding us, its Madrid they don't give 2 fecks about money. Not only that but Vidal actually rates himself as the best midfielder in the world so why not join the current champions of Europe and favorites to win it next year? Just can't see this transfer happening unless we're the only ones interested.

Have the Daily Fail ever been first on a transfer? I mean you can pretty miss just dismiss it since there's no way they get info on Juve or Madrid before the local Spanish or Italian press.

We took the high road when giving more money to established players could have gotten them here in the past. Now even if we offer a lot of money, we won't be attracting the very elite players in their position as we have a lot of question marks around us, and Vidal is the best CM in the world in my opinion. We won't be signing him unless Juve force him to leave and the Spanish clubs idiotically not bid for him, and I can't see either of those scenarios happening.

True, we should not try to engage Madrid in a futile battle to sign players, much better reserve our cash/energy to battles we can win against the likes of City/Arsenal...

Pretty much. If Real are in for him, we should focus elsewhere rather than wasting everyone's time unless he indicates he wants to play for us and is willing to make sacrifices to do so.

They can't offer the chance for him to prove himself on a cold windy Tuesday evening away to Stoke, which we all know is the pinnacle of judging a players true talent.

I think he'll move to Madrid and we won't even bid for him.

Rating Modric higher than Vidal? Modric having a bigger influence?

Classic Caf.

Why is rating Modric higher than Vidal such a crazy statement, considering Modric has been one of the best CMs this year? I don't necessarily agree with the statement, but it's not like making the claim that Carroll is better than Rooney.

its debatable. Modric was a key component for a CL winning team.

Not for me considering Vidal is the best midfielder in the world and Modric at no point has come close to being that. Vidal has about as much influence as you can in a midfield, him being there changes the entire way the team ticks.

This is also classic Caf. If you didn't read the name of the forum at times you'd barely know it was a United forum with the amount of times our own fans shit on our club and what we're capable of doing.

Classic Caf is also thinking about where players would want to go from the perspective of a United fan, rather than as a Chilean player based in Italy.

For non-United fan foreign players, the only advantage we have over Real Madrid is the ease of being a regular first team player. And, for a player like Vidal, that wouldn't really be an issue anyway.

Against any other club than RM or Barca I could make some sort of argument for United, but not against those two.

There hasn't been a better more influential midfielder this year in Europe than Modric @JP77. They fulfill different roles but picking one over the other is not a wild choice in either direction.

No, I'm talking about you in your post going on about shit such as 'bigger history' 'bigger fanbase' as if we're some pub side with no history or any fans. And bigger wages makes no sense as it's quite clear we can go big, just because we don't always do it doesn't mean we can't. Better players to pass to? Come on, are you taking the piss in even trying to defend that post?

It's got "let's shit all over our own club" all over it.

Completely true. Unquestionably the best CM in the world this season.

Not at all. We are massive. But I am not naive enough to think that top players would choose us over Real Madrid at this moment in time.

You dont have to shit all over a club or think of it as a pub side to say Real Madrid are definitely more appealing. At this stage, it wont even be a contest if we both go in for him if he doesnt have some special desire to play for us. Leaving aside all that Sparky said, they're simply a side at their absolute peak, the current European champions and glittered with top players and a top manager while we're hiring a new guy, going through a rebuilding process and not even in Europe next year. That's not even considering Real and Barca pretty much always seem to be the clubs of choice for players from that part of the world.

Real don't even need him. I'm sick of them just collecting players for the sake of it.

The only silver lining I can see here is Vidal's move to Real opens up the possibility of Modric being put on the market for a cheap-ish price. Getting Modric and Khedira for a relatively good price would be grand.

Didn't they sign Illarmendi for 30+ recently and Isco and have Modric, Alonso, Khedira in that position.

No chance Ancelotti will sell Modric.

Isco doesn't play CM, Alonso is 30 odd and Khedira is shit.
Isco seems like a central player that gets forced to play wide because they won't drop Alonso, where does Vidal fit in? They'd have to sell Alonso (which is rumoured) but Alonso can keep going as one of the best for many more years just like Gerrard.

It makes sense for him to go to Madrid but I wouldn't go as far as saying he definitely will.

Illarmendi? Or have they written him off already
