Maybe Fergie wants to slap Pogba around. And Conte is giving the all clear.

From the EL live text on the BBC tonight. We all know who made the initial contact to sign Mata, after all...
Maybe he was there to repair the relationship with Pogba?

Whoever said Vidal is over rated needs their head checking. If he is available this summer, then I would throw a crazy amount of money to get him at Old Trafford. Amazing player.

Vidal would be ideal for us, complete CM with two engines, it would allow greater scope to buy a younger CM to partner him.

Link seems particularly tenuous, how they jump to the conclusion they are talking about Vidal, I don't know, but here you go anyway:

Fergie 'quizzed Conte over Vidal' Manchester United, Latest news update: 12 minutes ago Manchester United director Sir Alex Ferguson is reported to have discussed a deal for Arturo Vidal with Juventus officials last night. The former Old Trafford supremo was seen in conversation with Juve coach Antonio Conte durung the first half of the Europa League final between Sevilla and Benfica, sparking rumours that have been picked up in the Italian and Spanish press. AS and Mediaset claim Ferguson quizzed Conte on the likely cost and chances of doing a deal with Juve for the 27-year-old Chile midfielder - a player that he has personally been trying to recruit for over a year. Vidal signed a contract extension at Juventus in December to prolong his deal until 2017 and is thought to be settled in Turin. However, Juve are in the process of negotiating a new contract with ex-United midfielder Paul Pogba and may feel that a bid of £32million is sufficient for them to sign a replacement for Vidal and tie Pogba down to a long-term deal. Juventus president Andrea Agnelli was also at the game and was seen talking to Conte before the start of the second half.

Hmm, i'm gonna get a lot of hate for this but he has only proven himself in the Italian league. He is allowed much more time on the ball than what he would have if he ever came to United. He would be a fantastic signing regardless but how would he cope with the English Prem?

Was a beast of a player in the German league too...

Hmmm, imo he has been world class at Juve, at Leverkusen he was just a good player. Is that natural progression or going to an easier league?

Still can't understand why we weren't in for him few years ago when he moved for under £15m. Baffling as usual.

Indeed, what a signing from Juventus. He arrived there when he was 23 and had just came tied first in the assist league of Bundesliga that season. He helped Leverkusen finish above Bayern Munich that year.

I guess it was due to the league not being very highly respected back then so players wanted to make moves to bigger clubs and those clubs weren't too keen on buying players "Only proven in the Bundesliga". Kagawa and Vidal both went for peanuts for players who did really well in that league.

After all it wasn't long ago that Dzeko and Granite were tearing the Bundesliga up like Hoeness/Muller in terms of goalscoring.

Would be a dream signing, how does everyone feel if we dropped interest in Kroos for Vidal? Personally Im a little split, isnt Kroos a much deeper laid player focusing on distribution. Doesnt Vidal bomb forward much more? not suggesting thats true but more genuinely asking.

Regardless of which league you think is more competitive, moving from Leverkusen to Juventus definitely was a step up, and he handled the transition impeccably.

Would you turn down the likes of Xavi, Schweinsteiger, Kroos and Pirlo because they've been unproven in the EPL?

Or Fergie could just be there to help push along the Nani sale to Juventus... Much more likely.

*please note, 1 game remaining in Serie A

Tackles:

Vidal 130
Carrick 61
Cleverley 48
Fellaini 44
Fletcher 8
Total 161

Goals:

Vidal 11
Cleverley 1
Carrick 1
Fellaini 0
Fletcher 0
Total 2

Key Passes:

Vidal 47
Carrick 28
Cleverley 10
Fellaini 5
Fletcher 7
Total 50

Vidals Interceptions are much lower than Carricks, but around the same number as Cleverleys. He takes slightly more shots per game than Fellaini, but as you can see, scores goals. He'd be comfortably better than Carrick/Clev/Fletcher in aerial battles (Fellaini miles top).

He's a player we really need. A proper leader in the middle, someone who will get stuck in and control a game, but also has a directness to his play. Tries to be more direct with his passing (see key passes).

£36 million? He's most certainly worth that. By Christ it'll be annoying when someone picks him up for that, because it won't be us.

Vidal would be the ultimate midfield signing in all honesty. £36 million would be money very well spent.

It's a steal really. Vidal is possibly the best option as a box to box midfielder out there.

£36m.

Only £10m more than Fellaini. Hope all these reports of us wanting Strootman for £30m aren't true. Rather spend that on Vidal.

We can reunite Vidal and Kroos.

If Kroos is a pipe dream I'd settle for Strootman and Vidal. Vidal's dynamism would compliment Stoorman and Carrick quite well I'd imagine.

Isn't that around same figure being branded about for carvalho? Ridiculous fees for both players but for opposite reasons. It would be crazy not to at least be in for him if it's true. He's worth much more than that and exactly what we need.

He's the best box to box mid in the world right now. I would happily pay 36 million for him. Even more if that's what it took. But I'm highly skeptical Juventus will actually sell. Are their finances dire that they need the influx of cash a Vidal deal would provide?

No idea what Sport Mediaset is and if they are reliable, I'm guessing not but maybe that's just because they're linking us with good news. Thought I'd post the tweet anyway.

Poorly translated version:
Manchester United have broken the inertia: 30000000-32000000 and offers for Arturo Vidal. The offer, indeed, was formally presented by Sir Alex Ferguson, Wednesday evening guest of honor at the Juventus Stadium for the final of the Europa League and sitting next to Antonio Conte. There was much discussion on the face-off between the two, as an endowment for the technical proposal to transfer to United, and instead of that which is called for Ferguson to Count Vidal lights on.

Juventus do you respond? The sale of Vidal is part of one of the projects Juventus: Lose the Chilean means to hold Pogba, and strategically has a precise meaning. At the moment, the club Juventus wants at least 40 million for the midfielder, a number of market that you trust to the European standards. The speech is started, Ferguson presented the cards of United, now we must proceed with a relative hurry. It is not a simple deal.

Juventus will sell.

It's a question of if Barca or Madrid come in for him.

Are Juve really letting this machine go?

Do not let this fcuking slip, as a wise man once said.

He's the most complete player in world football - he's either good or very good at every outfield footballing skill. Also a great leader. As far as signings go there isn't anyone more perfect for us, but likewise few are more far-fetched.

Signing Vidal would be like getting Keane back. He's such a leader and an engine.

36m? Woody should stop whatever he's doing and head to Turin on the 1st plane. and he better not get lost this time.

They would be stupid to let Vidal go to keep Pogba, Vidal is so much more loyal and I can't see Pogba staying at a club for more than 3 or 4 years, he is far too ambitious. I would be fecking pissed to see Vidal end up at Madrid though
