You'd think after signing players like Van Persie and Mata that people would learn not to say signing a certain player is never going to happen. It seems not.
It's only a waste of time if you don't get them

Bingo.

Imagine an alternate reality where something changed early on, Hazard picked up a knock for example and the deal never got going past the press hearing we were bidding.

Can you imagine how many nob heads on here would have been ridiculing Moyes and Woodward for trying to sign Mata. Juan Mata. From Chelsea.

Now imagine an alternate reality where Barcelona's new manager wasn't someone who was going to look to push for a more direct style. Maybe he thought it better to take £35m and put it on a centre back. He couldn't give Cesc's agent the assurances he needed... You know where it's going.

I think any move for Vidal would be similar to the Fabregas one, in the respect that he doesn't really want to leave but would be forced to strongly consider it, if his club accepted a bid.

Had barca accepted our offer, Fabregas would be here. Same with Vidal, if we tempt Juve with enough cash and they accept, Vidal would obviously be a lot more open to a move and a bigger pay deal, as well as the chance to play for one of the biggest clubs on earth and try his hand in a new league.

Would we be a big enough draw for him? Well, If he came here, coupled with the signing of Mata and the great players we already have, I thenk he'd make us a stronger team than Juve, right away.

I firmly believe that the change in manager is the reason we stopped bidding for Fabregas. Shame because he would've been fecking brilliant for us.

It seems logical that he is available if we meet the right numbers. You're looking at probably £50m though.

Surely he would come, especially with a significant wage increase which he'd surely get.

Juventus have wanted Nani for quite some time, still do apparently. With the reported interest in Hermann, would it would really be a surprise if Nani went one way and the Vidal the other? bring the transfer fee down quite a bit as well.

At least 30 quid.

I think the situation with Vidal is much closer to that with Fabregas than with Mata or Van Persie..

Both Mata and Van Persie wanted out (and Van Persie refused to extend his contract with Arsenal). Vidal loves his club, has a long term contract, and he's actually a guaranteed starter unlike Fabregas. (he's also on the verge of winning the league with Juve)

I think we're wasting our time because we should be targeting more realistic targets (realistic doesn't necessarily mean lesser players, but players with realistic chance of wanting to move). If we end up getting him then the joke is on me, but I really don't think we can get him.

Have we made a bid yet? I want a bid. David, buy him.

As expected...
Vidal rules out leaving Juventus

Arturo Vidal has quashed talk of a move away from Juventus by declaring his intention to remain in Turin.

The Chile international has once again been in sensational form for the Bianconeri this season and has been repeatedly linked with a host of top clubs, including Premier League champions Manchester United.

However, Vidal, who recently penned a contract extension until 2017, insists that he has no intention of leaving Juve, either during the current transfer window or in the summer.

"Will I leave? No, I will definitely stay in Turin," the midfielder told Rai Sport.

Vidal was speaking after being named in the Serie A Top 11 at the Gran Gala del Calcio Aic 2013 awards ceremony in Milan on Monday night and was quick to pay tribute to his Juve colleagues for the role they have played in his nomination.

"I've scored 10 important goals for the team this season but I must give thanks to my team-mates," he stated.

Of course he's not going to bloody say he'll leave halfway through the season....

he will say that until the day comes when Juventus tell him that they have accepted an offer and that they want the money

Dailymail is the only one reporting this. It's not on any of the major Italian newspapers.

People say we need a Toure, but this guy is most definitely what we need.

He's the complete midfielder, and he doesn't need a particular type of player to sit next to him - anyone (even Cleverley) will do.

Why do people still talk about him? He is not joining United any time soon.

I'm not saying he's joining United, just that Dailymail is most probably wrong.

He signed new improved contract extension in December, so why would Juventus offer him a new deal only a month later?

Daily Mail and their journalism.:wenger:

What if Moyes was to specifically tell him to get it wide to the full backs and wingers for them to cross the ball and not make forward runs ? We know it's real possibility with him.
Perhaps we need to sign players that don't speak english. They can sit there nodding during the team talk and then go out and do what they are actually good at on the pitch and ignore the rubbish tactics.

Good idea in theory, but maybe that's why he punted Anderson. Anderson just ran in straight lines down the middle, and seems to speak minimal English. Did not follow orders. First one out the door.

Surely this is a bogus story as he signed a new deal until 2017 not too long ago? And I cannot find any other reliable news agencies reporting this. It's Vidal, it would be all over BBC and Sky by now.
