Arturo Vidal

Not sure this story is accurate, doesn't seem to be circulating around the news much. Still hope yet, but his interview in January makes me think it'll be extremely difficult to lure the fella away.

Redsky

I don't think Vidal will budge on us offering ourselves to him like that....
You never know. Anderson's quite a loveable fella, were we to throw him in as part of that offer.

Sex is gone sadly. With Xavi tipped to leave in the summer, I can't see him ever leaving now.
Yeah, though I'm still not convinced if Fabregas is ever going to suit the Barca "cantera" style.

Hmm, well Mata doesn't suit our 'crossing' style but he still plays for us. I just can't see Sex leaving. Whether or not he plays his best football there or not is a different mata.

I say again, why would any of these players leave Champions League/Title winning sides to come to a team that will be playing no European football and a manager who has nae respect in Europe.

It's fantasy.

Strootman would have done well here for me, and that's another we let feck off somewhere else for relatively little money.

It's all about the money. Put it up and you can get basically anyone.

Look at City, PSG, Chelski when they started with their mega bucks.

Agree with this.
Does anyone think a player would go to Lille or someone over us, just because they're in the champions league?

Not sure it makes a huge difference if a club like us is offering huge money, and is potentially only out of it for 1 year

This is assuming Vidal is a mercenary. Because that's all City and Chelsea signed prior to the success. Robinho? No thanks.

This is Vidal, his choices will be PSG, Madrid, etc.... all huge clubs that are all in the champions league and will give him as much if not more money than us.

He is very happy were he is. They are the best team in Italy and a sleeping giant in Europe. They are lead by a young and charismatic coach in Conte. Let's not do this to ourselves.

He told Las Ultimas Noticias: "I live with my feet on the ground, I try not to think too much about the rumours, otherwise I would go mad. I think it is better to focus on training and getting ready for games at my best.

"Real Madrid, Barcelona or Manchester United? It is nice to hear my name linked to Madrid, Barca or to Manchester United, but I think only about training, the rest we shall see about.

"Now I want to give everything for Juventus, because when one starts to dream, they move too far away from football. I want to stay focused and wear the shirt of Juventus."

Speaking about Sanchez's plea, Vidal added: "I've no problem with Alexis, we have known each other since we were kids.

"We were together at Under-20 level and we played together at Colo Colo.

"Of course I'd like to play with someone with whom I have shared something, but perhaps it could be for him to come here.

"These things, however, we will see over time."

Dreams of United! Come on Dave make it happen.

£75m on him is better value than £27m on Fellaini.

He will be at the world cup for sure, but not at his 100%. Probably will miss the 3 first games. (actually this is bullshit... anything can happen... he can make it and play or not. Lets wait for what the doctors have to say after the surgery)

fecking Juve... he suffered this injury quite some time ago and didn't deal with it properly. Arturo also imbecile... trying to play every single game.

Luckily for Chile, Vidal is not irreplaceable. We have midfielders to cover for him.

Overrated as a player

not sure if serious :boring:

Anyway, the surgery was a success according to the doctors. Under normal conditions, the player should go home and take 2-3 months before playing again, but because it's a World Cup year, he might make it to Brazil. Come on Arturo!

ps. A 33 year old Baresi broke his meniscus in the first round of WC USA 94... he went under surgery and come back to play the final (23 days after the injury), with the captain armband. He did keep the brazilian attackers at bay (0-0), but eventually lost to them in those penalties. Impossible is nothing.

Probably not so much as 8 weeks, could be 5 at least which still puts his wc in huge doubt.

Yeah, even a 5 week layoff is bad at this time. Takes a while after recovering to get going anyways.

Definitely good news for The Netherlands. I thought Chile would be a chance to make it past the group, but with Vidal not there (or not at his best) that will make it hard. I haven't really seen much of him either so I was looking forward to seeing him play at the WC. Hope he recovers well though. Definitely not overrated as a player going by what I have seen.

From the EL live text on the BBC tonight. We all know who made the initial contact to sign Mata, after all...
