Arne Slot | Liverpool manager (Posture and/or Sack Watch)

Their injury record is insane, no one comes even close to them in that department. I have no idea what they do with their players, but to have just one player unfit(and he is short term too, Arnold has played most of fhe season anyway) is just unbelievable.
Is it actually that much better than other sides? They've had a couple of bad longer term injuries, but this season we've had a fair few out for at least 4 weeks. The below have had injuries for a lengthy period.

Gomez
Konate
Alisson
Jota
Elliott
Tsimikas
Bradley

Chiesa (our only signing) has struggled all season with fitness.

We haven't had to deal with longer term injuries like Arsenal with Saka and Jesus or City with Rodri, but Slot has managed the squad well with regards to fitness.

He got 82pts last season - probably enough to win the league this season. Returning the team to the CL and he also won a trophy. Having done this with a brand new midfield during a season of significant injury.

He then left a very good (the best?) squad for Slot to work with. His last great act.

He’s gone up in my estimation rather than diminished. But as I say, if interpreting this as Klopp’s failure helps then go for it
I honestly don't give a crap. I was just putting forward that it wasn't an odd interpretation for people to think slot is getting more out of the squad than what klopp got and I gave two examples of players that are performing well above what klopp could get out of them.

I honestly find it odd that Liverpool supporters go onto a united forum and get bent out of shape because united fans have a different take to the klopp cheerleaders.

I also think it's odd how Liverpool fans get defensive over klopp when in actual fact the current Liverpool manager is getting praised for getting more out of the squad.

And klopp not winning the league or champions league for 4 years after winning the league in 2020 is failure whatever excuse or way you want to dress it up.

Never been a manager more successful at getting to finals and losing them.

You have to ignore the cheating by man city to label that as failure.Out of all of the clubs that didnot cheat, liverpool came top in 2019 and 2022.It took a huge amount of cheating to ruin it for klopp.Klopp is still the only manager who could and did overcome pep at a cheating oil club. And in no sane world should somebody count the 20/21 season, the number of injuries, big and small was crazy. That was just a write off season.

At dortmund he was up against munich who were taking his best players and his star striker was about to join munich that summer.

2018 ucl final lfc were dominating until Ramos purposely injured salah and was somehow not sent off despite elbowing karius in the head, which massively changed the game. And how anybody could predict karius having brainfarts and blaming klopp is beyond me.That was only klopps second full season and they were surprise ucl finalists,up against the most dominant madrid side.

Winning any of those the ucl finals would have been a massive overachievement.

When teams come up against a better team in a ucl final, even without misfortune they lose everytime bar istanbul 05.

Sir Alex teams only beat teams in ucl finals that they were better than and expected to win, when up against barcelona he lost twice.

Imagine if Sir Alex could get to ucl finals as easily as klopp did,he would have gotten to atleast 8 ucl finals in 26 years, not just 4.

Hindsight is wonderful but he could’ve easily rested a few vs Spurs and got the win there and risked one or two of the big hitters from the bench tonight.

Eleven changes almost never works, and less likely against a spirited lower league club with nothing to lose.

Arrogance or stupidity? Of course if he wins the league he’s surpassed expectations but I think he’s got it wrong this week and hopefully losing points against Everton will underline it all nicely for us who want to see if all go tits up.

It kind of makes sense to me to do what he did. They have a genuine chance to win the PL and go very far in the CL. This game was against a shite Plymouth side and stuck between a semi-final of a cup competition and also the derby at Goodison. You'd put more onus on the two games which he has and not this one.

Plymouth keeper made good saves and they lost due to a daft decision from Elliott. It's not like they were trounced!
I think they had one shot on target up until something like the 75th minute. It was like watching us.

At the very least you need to have a couple of Salah, Van Dijk, Arnold, Szoboszlai, Macallister, Gravenberch, Konate, Gakpo on the bench to chuck on if you need them (just as City did yesterday). Leaving all of them at home was a pisstake.

As above though I can understand why he's done it. Like it or lump it, the domestic cups just aren't seen in the same prestige as they used to be. With a semi-final just played and the derby midweek they're the two games you'd want to win.

The League Cup is far inferior to the FA Cup. League Cup is proper Micky Mouse.

I honestly don't think many of the big clubs nowadays see much difference between either. They just care about the PL and the CL but if they have a chance of getting to a final of one they'll do so.

I kept telling the caf this dude's overrated af, but you wouldn't listen. You insisted he was some sort of messiah. Bald fraud.

He reads this thread and knows you’ve betrayed him. Arne will be back for you.

But this is their best chance for ages for the real treble. They probably won't get this good of a run at all the competitions ever again.
Like it or not, the FA cup is still one of the 3 needed for the treble.
Maybe they are feeling stretched and would rather drop out than risk losing everything.

We were two games away from winning everything in 2021/22.

Obvious he doesn't care that much for the cup.
Somebody should have explained the importance of a treble to him. And that this is not Netherlands, you can't assume you will beat lower league teams by completely leaving your best players behind and not taking the game seriously. He should have at least had options on the bench

Now, he is cursed, and my gut tells me they will struggle in EPL as well, and bottle that as well ;)

And two penalty shootouts from winning nothing.
Right, but I was responding to the poster saying it was our best chance of a quad in ages. It wasn’t. 2022 we were two games away from it. This season there is a lot of football still to be played.

I stand corrected.
I meant it more that you don't seem to have any peers at the moment. You're clearly the best team in europe right now.

Out of curiosity, did your forums frequently have "Utd on for a quadruple" threads?

I don't know if it's just me forgetting stuff, or because it's now the age of social media and crazy sensationalism, but I feel like this term gets thrown about a lot more these days.

It's been quite a few years of City or Liverpool being nailed on favourites for the quadruple from about October/November onwards.

You think cup upsets don't happen here? Top flight teams are knocked out by actual amateurs on a yearly basis.
