That chelsea midfield is nothing to write home about. PSG walked all over it for two legs, Verratti probably hasn't had an easier time on a football pitch.
The first match between city and chelsea in the league was also an embarrassment for them.
Quite a few games went by this season when chelsea couldn't get a foothold in matches and that's with both those players on the pitch. Until Jose commits to one extra midfielder I'd have Herrera, Carrick and Turan any day of the week. In top level football 3 is better than 2 every day of the week.
PSG have a top class midfield. They also play 3 in the middle, so yes we struggled against it.
Arda is a winger/#10 anyways and wouldn't be played there for you.
It'd be stupid to sign him and not play him there. That's his natural position. Being played on the wing is him being misused to suit the sort of non football tactics that Simeone uses.
He's not an attacking #10, more a controlling one that adds to a midfield rather than win matches.
Schneiderlin is the CM you seem to be signing. To reportedly be after both suggests to me that he would be played in a more advanced role.

I see all these line-ups without Carrick but he starts when fit. There is no chance van Gaal will drop him and rightfully so.

For many, 'less is more', and that certainly appears to be the case for Arda Turan. He did not use those exact words, but the Turk has explained his reasons for wanting to leave Atlético de Madrid: the money on offer at other clubs and the physical demands of Simeone's playing style.
The club had wanted the player to say exactly what he wanted, rather than listen to his agent. Following the trip to China, that conversation finally took place over the phone and the midfielder apologised for Ahmet Bulut's behaviour, but confirmed what his agent had said: that he wants out.
He wants to leave because he is struggling with the physical demands of Cholo's game. He would rather play in a system in which he is exempt from defensive duties. Arda missed several big games with what seemed to be minor injuries, including the last game of the 2013/14 season, the Champions League final, the last game of last season and the key game in their quest for third place, against Granada.
Atlético have told the Turk the conditions under which he may leave the club. His buy-out clause is €41m. Although they may not insist on as much, the club will only listen to serious offers.

I do like him, but mostly because he backs up his attacking role with a lot of running and defensive work. In other words, he's talked himself out of a job.
Yeah, those comments would completely rule him out as a Mourinho consideration if true.

True, no direct quotes, but that is the reason he seemingly wants out at Atleti. Doesn't like Simeone's football.
I don't think Hazard has many defensive duties
He does. Much improved in that regard.
As Orc mentions he has improved in that regard, but I also think Mourinho will only allow one player to have as much freedom as Hazard, it's why he plays the defensive winger Willian to balance him out.
Tbf Hazard is a different animal and their best creative outlet. He can be allowed certain liberties. He does his fair share of defensive work as mentioned above but still not much as, say David Silva who does a lot more defensive work than Hazard.

Seems like such a pointless signing for us, he's not the type of player we need to add to the squad. We need dynamic, dangerous players.. he keeps it very simple, rarely takes players on or does anything dangerous with the ball and we do not need someone like that coming in for big money.

Liverpool were always interested in him, dont know if they are now. But i could imagine Milan or Inter being interested. Possibly Chelsea or City from the PL.

I would be surprised if any of the clubs you listed are seriously interested. He will probably end up at one of the Milan clubs.
Chelsea have been linked with him quite a bit in recent transfer windows, City need to replace Yaya as well. The two guys they got last season look pretty awful, Fernando and Fernandinho.
Time will tell though. Can AC Milan afford him?
We aren't interested. We have enough creative and slow-ish footballers who can do a job on the wing or attacking midfield.
I think they've got a bit of cash behind them now at Milan.
