Television Anyone recommend me any TV Shows?

Just finished both seasons of Ozark. Much better than what I was expecting. Rather slow paced, but still tense. The characters are all brilliant and Russ Langmore and agent Petty in particular are phenomenal.

Finally gotten around to watching 12 Monkeys. Gonna have to thank @SwansonsTache (I think) for recommending this previously as I'm now approaching the end of season 2 and it's been really really good.

One of the few interesting SciFi series to come out the last few years, season 3 is fecking great.

You can't smoke weed while watching though, you'll get confused about the timelines. I had to rewatch it three times.

Yeah I had to rewatch the episodes I watched last night because of that.

Don't worry, it is like that infamous gif. "You see something new every time".

Just watched the pilot of Killing Eve, after hearing so many rave reviews. I found it annoyingly quirky. I'll definitely stay on it, but based on the pilot (an admittedly small sample size,) I'm not sure what all the fuss is about.

I couldn't handle it, so "American".

Been watching “The Fall” recently, it’s pretty good if you like serial killer based shows.

As I’m on that topic, any of you wise ladies and gentlemen able to point me in the direction of a worthwhile serial killer based show to watch?

So far I’ve watched Dexter, Hannibal, Mind Hunter, The Fall
Have you seen Sharp Objects on HBO? It’s based off a novel by Gillian Flynn who also wrote Gone Girl

Not quite sure what that means, as some of the greatest shows (in my opinion) are American (The Wire, The Sopranos, The Leftovers, Breaking Bad, etc.) But if it's the quirkiness that you are referring to, then I agree. I'll give it a few more episodes.

Is The Good Place actually good? I've heard good things but the premise doesn't sound too interesting.

I really like Kidding.

It's okay, but I feel that it's overrated, I've seen multiple claims that it's today's best comedy show, for example. Ted Danson is great in it.

Yeah it's great but if you're expecting it to be as funny as P&R or The Office you might be disappointed. It has its moments but it's mostly great cause of how clever it is and how it constantly switches the narrative.

Gave up after the first episode but maybe I didn't give it a fair shot. I just don't find that sort of humour funny and..

seemed like the twist will be *dun dun dun...* she isn't in the good place

I just remember watching the first season of The Killing a few years ago but didn't follow up on that. Anyone seen more of it?

On to season two of The Sinner now and I like it. Also can't believe The Big Bang is into it's last season :( :nervous:

Been watching Maniac on Netflix - up to episode 8. Really good show, would recommend for anyone into sci-fi and alternate realities.

Not to mention it was only really American in the sense that it had 1 American actor.

Actually The Wire and Sopranos didn't have that "American" in them (Leftovers do btw haha).
But what I mean by "American", I find it a bit hard to describe. It's like smoothing out all the difficult things and ruff edges with some quirky stuff and make everything not-so-serious, you know, sugarcoating stuff.

The American remake? If so, season 2 was good. Season 3&4 was a different storyline, not as good but still worth a watch.
It was originally a danish series i think? But yes, I'd like to watch season two at least.

I get you, although I’m curious to know your thoughts on the Leftovers

Season 1 was actually good, intresting stuff and none of the wow filler stuff there.
But the second season was a complete turn off, meaningless wondering, a bit like latter half of The Lost. IIRC the BBQ dinner was the last straw for me.

I just finished El Chapo and thought it was ok, nothing more. I was a huge fan of Narcos and hoped El Chapo would be similar but I didn't like the fictional parts of the show, for example the 2nd lead is entirely fictional and represents a bit too many people/groups imo. His whole story just gets too big for my liking, especially since most of it never happened or are simply guesses/added for additional drama.

El Chapo's life isn't as interesting as Pablo Escobar's either imo, which doesn't really help when you're making a show about it.

Shameless(the American version) is one of my favorite shows. This season has started off pretty well. With Emma Rossum leaving the show at the end of the season, I hope they give Fiona a great send-off.

Same. It has some Wes Anderson quirk going on (he really needs to do a sci fi by the way) which I like, but with a fecked up story.

Really going off the deep end now. I'm on ep 9 of 10 like you.

A
And if you’re referring to Sandra Oh (Eve), she’s actually Canadian

So the show is even less American then. I think the character is meant to be a Brit raised in the US for what it is worth.

I know you weren't asking me but I loved it. It is very hard to end this type of series and they absolutely nailed the finale.
