Television Anyone recommend me any TV Shows?

Watching The Americans, upto the final season now and am still gripped, thought there was 7 seasons when started and was a bit daunted by that many but am now disappointed to find out theres only 6.

I really like how it doesnt scupper to cliffhanger endings not making you over consume wanting to know what happens straight away. Happy with watching 1 episode every few days and leaving time to think about it before the next. Its by now means a perfect show but definitely recommended if interested on the subject matter, cold war/espionage etc.

Yep, a quality show that ended well.

Not a true ‘TV show,’ but Ken Burn’s ‘Vietnam’ on Netflix is phenomenal. Wonderful soundtrack, a great method of weaving in historical facts with those affected by the war, & the narration by Peter Coyote was a quality choice. Highly, highly recommended.

Started watching Mr. Inbetween. Good show. Reminds me of Fargo (TV) series in a lot of ways. Mainly due to all the ironic shit that takes place.

The best show for me this yeah has been Killing Eve. Fantastic plot and the main actress Jodie Comer is hot!

Watching Marcella at the moment - about half way through the 8 episodes I think. Feels like a quality British thriller, which is great, but I have a feeling that it is going to get even better towards the end.
Half way through the second season, it's been mostly great par some corny or stupid scenes. Recommend it highly. On Netflix at the moment.

The whole first season. The story seems forced and the acting isn't great. To each his own!

Awe there's 5 seasons I think out of all of them season 1 is the least impressive. You should give season 2 a try :)

Is anyone watching Homecoming? new Amazon Prime show with Julia Roberts. Created and directed by Sam Esmail (guy who did Mr. Robot).

Only two episodes in but I'm really liking it so far. I think anyone who likes Mr. Robot will like this.

The Informer is worth a few hours of people's time.

I found the finale a bit underwhelming but that seems to be a recurring theme - The Cry, The Bodyguard also left me feeling a bit dissatisfied despite enjoying them overall.

On iPlayer now is a cracking one off drama called The Thirteenth Tale. Olivia Coleman and Vanessa Redgrave in an old school gothic psych horror. Great fun.

Killing Eve next up.

Got this lined up also. I spent a long time watching and reading anything to do with this conflict that horrifies and fascinates me in equal measure. I've just reread Chickenhawk by Robert Mason (Huey pilot diary of his tours of duty there - essential reading if you've not already) and it's put me in the mood.

I'm watching Homecoming with Julia Roberts by Sam Esmail of Mr. Robot fame, not great but good.

Working my way through season 2. Sticking with it at the moment but struggling a bit. My mistake was reading a recap of series 1 and realising how convoluted and silly it was.

If you like John Oliver, I would recommend Patriot Act by Hasan Minhaj. Great, funny and at times Damning!

Good pick! As someone who recently visited Vietnam i was rather embarrassed at my lack of historical knowledge. I got back and watched this series, it was wonderfully done!

Yeah I had to rewatch the episodes I watched last night because of that.

Started season 4 and realized i have absolutely no clue of what the feck is going on. All i know is i fecking enjoyed the first 3 seasons.
(gonna watch some recaps from youtube i guess)

Might give that a go next ;)

Did you guys like it? One of the few shows I actually miss even though they ended it on a high and the only way they could.

I'm not quite at the end of S04 yet but I've loved it. Already feeling kinda gutted it's nearly over.

Castlevania is fantastic. Best Netflix Original in a while, in my opinion.

If only they used Bloody Tears for the intro...

Season 2 of Marcella was more of the same. Everyone was blackmailing everyone else. Lots of plots lines weren't tied up. Doubt I'll bother with season 3 if it gets made.

Just quickly, anybody seen this 'Power' on netflix.
My mate keeps recommending it, but I just worry it's gonna be some hip hop crap trying to be good

I gave up after like 5 episodes, thought it was absolutely shit.

Some on here love it though.

Hmm, he's putting it in the same bracket as Soprano's and Boardwalk empire here, so I'm assuming a more up to date version of gangsters and stuff.
Not that I've watched those shows either  but I feel this is gonna disappoint from the off.

Casting 50 Cent puts me off right away

Not watched Boardwalk but Sopranos is in a whole different league to Power.

Power doesn't even deserve to be talked about in the same breath to be honest.

I'm 100% sure your friend has never watched Boardwalk Empire or Sopranos.

Tried a few times to watch Power but just can't get into it .

Loved the Wire,Boardwalk and the Sopranos

To compare Power to any of them is blasphemy .

Acting counts for a lot and Power is lacking in that as well as everything else

Binged The Haunting of Hill House this past weekend, would strongly recommend it. It's a brilliant blend of jump/scare horror, psychological horror, mystery, and family drama. Be warned, it's very dark, though I think that's one of its strengths. Two episodes stand out to me in particular as some of the best TV I've watched in a while.

It’s a great show. Great meaning it is very entertaining. However there are obvious flaws. Acting, plot.

I wouldn’t compare with Sopranos. It’s like comparing Fast and Furious with the Godfather.

I was probably a bit unfair in what I said about my mate.
I've re-read it back and what he said was he doesn't often recommend shows but then goes on to say he recommends this like he did Soprano's and Boardwalk.

I watched 3 episodes last night, to be honest, the story was alright, the acting was awful though.
I'll persist but not to convinced.

I would recommend ATypical as something a bit different btw.
Was a nice watch

I have been watching Nirvana in Fire 2 and it is outstanding for me (though I haven't finished it yet). It is subtitled which I know discourages some friends of mine but I enjoy shows from around the world. (I also highly recommend watching the original and although this one is a sequel its not really necessary to watch them in order because the sequel only obliquely references the first one)

It is a Chinese historical drama told over 50 episodes. Its primarily a political intrigue but mixes in martial arts, romance, and other plots and schemes. One thing that differentiates Chinese production shows from Western ones is they don't have concepts of "seasons". Dramas get filmed in full whether its 20 episodes or 50 and are then shown over a month or two period. Its basically addiction candy for binge-watchers which is why I like that style. From a story telling perspective it allows a mix of short term and long term plotting that isn't always possible for some seasonal based shows.
