Television Anyone recommend me any TV Shows?

I've watched two episodes of The Deuce. It's great so far. Superbly written (as you would expect), and the world that they've created is one of the most well imagined worlds i've seen. New York is absolutely dripping in that 1970's grime and grit that was synonymous with the city at that time. They absolutely nailed it.

I really enjoyed this one, too.

I watched this twice. I love the whole atmosphere of it.

Agree, even though I think they messed up the last couple of episodes. The book was so fresh when it came out, some of its impact may have been lost through the rather late adaptation of it, other sci-fi has riffed on some of its ideas. Still think it is one of the more interesting things that Netflix has done.

Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan : Amazon Prime Original starting John Krasinski
Very well made, fast paced, great action with an intelligent plot and very good performances by the entire cast.
Also loved how they portrayed Jack Ryan, he's not your typical action hero but a guy with many skeletons in his closet.
I've not read a single Jack Ryan book but I felt they did a very good job adapting the book.
Rating : 8/10

Binging this atm and really enjoying it. Also not read any books and only know the character from the movies.

This one is good, into E6 now.

looks like it is, but shame though....they could do the same theme just with different assassination.
Its based on a Stephen King novel of the same name, so it was a book adaptation, so I don't see how they could do the same thing with a different assassination.
Also IIRC it didn't attract many viewers at the time of release and struggled with low ratings throughout, which I guess killed any chance of a sequel

Don't know what I was thinking when I wrote that :nervous:
I think what I meant was that I've heard a lot from my friends about the books and the character Jack Ryan. I expected the TV show to depict him as a super spy but they surprised me with their portrayal of him

Henry Cavill will be playing Geralt in Netflix's Witcher series...

Awesome to have a big name associated with it, but at the same time not top of the A lister either. He went on record before how much he loved the games and the books and that he d love to play Geralt. Whether that translates to him indeed making a great Geralt is debatable. For instance - look at someone like Charles Dance having zero interest in the GoT books and wasn't it Ian McKellan who also wasn't a big fan of the books like Christopher Lee was with regards to LOTR?

Also hope they won't blow the budget on getting good actors to fill the other important characters.

I just watched Justice League and i think the guy is not a bad actor, but doesn't feel right for the role. Way too big and way too pretty.

Fan art of him as Geralt. I’m sure he’ll cut down in size from the superman, mission impossible size he is at unless he is preparing for Superman again.

The Witcher probably deserves its own thread really for discussion as I can see it being one of those shows people talk about for months.

I like Cavill he’s a big gamer too. He almost missed his shot at Superman because he was playing World of Warcraft and missed the call.

Haha that's hilarious.
I'm not concerned about him being too bulky - clothes and the camera can do a lot. He seems like he naturally is a pretty slim guy. Also - re being too pretty, isn't Geralt described as being oddly attractive or something? If they give him the Witcher eyes and scars etc I'm sure a lot of the pretty boy look will quickly be forgotten but for TV especially - him being a pretty good looking dude regardless is probably important to making the r rated stuff (women falling over him) be believable.

In a way the most important part to me is whether he can pull off the dry humor without coming across as nothing more but a cocky prick - like I would if I would talk like Geralt.

Paradise PD on Netflix. It’s amazing, if you like things like Rick & Morty, Archer and Big Mouth and things of that nature I highly recommend. If you’re easily offended or drive a testla it might not be for you. (you’ll understand when you watch it)

Just finished watching Season 1 of The Sinner with Jessica Biel and Bill Pullman. A bit dark and an interesting twist to it. Steady 7/10 viewing

Has anyone watched Marco Polo on Netflix? Never heard anyone mention it, but it has rave reviews on IMDB. Watched the first episode and enjoyed it enough.

It is good. Feels close to the bone like Family Guy used to. Makes it seem extremely tame now.
You need energy to watch it though. Goes at a million mph

The first series starts off a bit crap and cliche and cheesy but gets really good towards the end. I thought the second season was fantastic. Netflix cancelled it after that, cost them a bomb to make and didn't really get the viewers or ratings. Although the second season does wrap things up well, it just alludes to a new arc for S3.

Show's biggest problem is the titular character who's pretty weak, but the supporting character's, especially BD Wong, are great.

Will continue then! Doesn't strike me as an addictive series from the first episode, but like the sound of what I've read.

Strange that I've never heard anyone talking about it but explains why it got cancelled.

Finished Mr Mercedes season 1 great acting great soundtrack looking forward to season 2

I only watched season 1. Decided not to watch season 2 since it was cancelled and there's no point in me wasting my time. Anyway, my opinion is that the first season is good enough for a watch. Especially for the villain Jia Sidao whose beautifully played

Agreed. S1 seems like it stands perfectly well on its own anyway. Started s2 and because of the same reason as you, coupled with just not getting sucked in as much as with S1 I stopped watching.

Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan
Really enjoyed this. Been a long time since i've enjoyed a show of this genre. Great acting and an intelligent plot (for once). Really worth watching if you like Homeland/24 type shows.

If you liked Rick and Morty then you should like: Final Space and Paradise PD
