Television Anyone recommend me any TV Shows?

Its definitely worth a watch.
The character growth and following each of their stories through dark times and coming out the other side.
I loved it that much that my daughter is named Brooke :lol:

Nice choice haha.

It still feels like OTH is one of the last good teen shows ever produced. Alongside The OC, and maybe Gossip Girl. The 2000's were really good on that.

Anyone a fan of Dave Gorman's 'Modern Life Is Goodish'?

The original series ended in 2017, but four new episodes are being shown from Monday February 24th.

Really looking forward to those, as each epsiode is normally well written and quite witty. Not hilarious, but the kind that stands up to multiple watches and still feels humorous enough each time.

During that break of 8 years, he tried a panel show version of a similar format called 'Terms and Conditions Apply' - but that really didn't work anywhere near as well and only lasted one series. The format works much better with well scripted monologues delivered by Dave, with the intended points being cleverly driven home - trying to make the same points while three other comedians took it off track cracking their own jokes really didn't work.

Watched the first couple of episodes of Sugar, starring Colin Farrell as a private detective investigating the disappearance of a girl who is part of Hollywood royalty. A modern homage to the Humphrey Bogart movies. A friend recommended it and I'm enjoying it so far.
I enjoyed it but not totally convinced by the end. Keep watching and you will know why. BTW I'd recommend keeping watching so you can make your own mind up as opinions seem divided.

You season 3 done, brilliant TV , straight on to season 4.
Season 4 is universally considered the worst season but I couldn't stop watching. It's garbage but entertaining garbage.. Joe says he hates the rich upperclass yet finds himself deeply entrenched in their world each season :lol: but then he also doesn't see himself as a creepy stalker..

Yeah I agree it’s the worst , 4 eps still very watchable.

Doing a list of the shows I'm looking forward to in 2025:

* Severance S2 (Jan 17)
* White Lotus S3 (Feb 16)
* Daredevil: Born Again (March 4)
* The Last of Us S2 (April)
* Squid Game S3 (June 27)
* Knight of the Seven Kingdoms (no date)
* Stranger Things S5 (no date)
* You S5 (April 24th)
* Beef S2 (no date)
* Alien: Earth (summer)

Assuming they all actually come out,that's pretty damn good.

Solid lineup.

The IT prequel show is out this year too, could be a dark horse.

There's also shows I haven't seen like Andor, Righteous Gemstones, The Bear, Peacemaker and Yellowjackets getting new seasons. Do you recommend any of these?

Also Black Mirror season 7 is potentially this year too

I've only seen Peacemaker and Yellowjackets out of the ones listed, enjoyed both but your mileage may vary. Andor has been on my list for ages, I'm hoping to start it soon.

Paradise is a lot better than I thought it would be when I started it off.

Finished S2 of The Night Agent. Thought it was decent.
I came away from S2 with the same impression as S1. It's a 6.5/10 series. None of the characters, dialogue or overall storyline grips me enough to really enjoy it. Nevertheless, it is a fast paced series with plenty of twists to keep you watching.

Common Side Effects, an Adult Swim show that can be watched on Max. Only the first two episodes are out currently, I like it so far. Mike Judge is involved so it already has my attention.

Season 1 was okay, but I thought season 2 was appalling. It made sense in season 1 how the girl was close to him throughout the season, as he was protecting her; but they way they contrived to get her on the run with him again in season 2 just defied belief. So absurd how she found him with her public marketing software - with just a few tweaks - yet using the same techniques the FBI or NSA couldn’t even catch a whiff of him. And then for her to stay with him all season and getting read into national security issues was just ridiculous :lol: . Not to mention that the main actor is painfully wooden.

As I said, I quite enjoyed season 1 even though I viewed it as a fairly generic Netflix espionage thriller, with a lead who was too young to make it properly compelling and very predictable twists; but season 2 just took the piss. When it comes to “fairly generic Netflix espionage thrillers with leads who are clearly too young to make it compelling”, I much preferred season 1 and 2 of The Recruit, because it was at least somewhat zany and intermittently funny. With then leaning into the sillier aspects of such shows as a strength rather than having to completely switch your brain off.

Started watching The North Water with...Colin Farrell as well. Even though he is not as unrecognizable physically in this - he once again shows how much of a chameleon he is playing entirely different characters. Well and truly one of the greatest actors of his generation.

If you're a fan of moody previous century shows or those with naval settings like The Terror S1, Master and Commander, In the Heart of the Sea etc - you ll probably like this. I honestly can't quite get enough of those types of shows and movies. Not sure how I missed this when it first came out. Hopefully it is not one of those shows that results in an unsatisfactory conclusion because so far they are doing a very good job building up the characters and atmosphere.

Just finished this, one of the best things I've seen in years.

Thank you to whoever recommended The North Water. Watched two episodes and it has been very very good.

Henry Drax. Christ.

Thanks for this fellas. Just finished watching it. Slipped completely under the radar and would have never heard of it if not for this thread. Colin Farrell is immense. Jack O'Connell was mint too.

Speaking of the latter, Skins churned out some talented actors for a low budget E4 show!

Yeah it’s great. Have you seen ‘The Terror’ also?

Watched the first season not too long ago and really enjoyed it. North Water has pretty much the same setting, so when it got brought up that was enough to make me take a look. As soon as I saw the cast I was sold.
