Television Anyone recommend me any TV Shows?

Any House M.D fan here ? If yes, have you seen Chance ? Hugh Laurie did an incredible job in that one too. It's brilliant the show, shame that it has just two seasons.

By the way he is slated to appear on Catch22 which will come out in 2019!

Yellowstone with Kevin Costner is really good. New show by the new premium Paramount network. Got fairly mixed reviews which I think were harsh as it's just a bit slow at the start. It's from the same guy who wrote Sicario and Wind River, so the same sort of modern western feel.

Just caught up on Vikings, excellent show. Anyone recommend anything else on Amazon Prime? Thinking about The Man in the High Castle.

If you don't like slow shows then Man in The High Castle probably isn't for you. It's a really good show though but takes a while to really build up.

They should have done Firefly when the cast was still up for it. Now every 2 bit sci-fi show in the last 10 years has stolen its beats, without coming close to its charm.

Loved Buffy at the time, it was just plain fun, with plenty of sass, cheese, relatable characters and beautiful girls for the teenage boys like myself to focus on. Whedon had a soft touch at the time with the social commentary, at least compared to contemporary standards, it was there but it wasn't the prime focus of the show. Not sure why they need a complete reboot, other than brand recognition.
Have you seen Killjoys? It has ripped a lot from Firefly but really enjoying it. It seems to have the charm that Firefly had, i’d Recommend it to anyone who liked firefly. Has Hannah-John-Kamen as lead who was recently in Tombraider, Ready player one and Ant-man.

I have, has its moments but not on the Firefly level for me. Also tried Dark Matter, fairly similar, low budget going for a similar feel, group thrown together, develop some chemistry.

Firelfy was Whedon's best writing for me, how quickly that cast meshed, the wit and how utterly charming it was. Great casting as well, the core group was wonderful together and you even had the likes of Christina Hendricks playing side characters, lightening in a bottle, and Fox chucked it out without realizing how good it was.

Yeah I gave Dark matter a series and a bit but it just never clicked for me so gave up on it.

Serenity is probably my most watched Movie ever, if it’s on tv I watch it, if I’m just bored it goes on, even if it’s just for background noise, but how they could cancel Firefly i’ll never know but at the time it was a bit of a sleeper was it not? Plus at the time of it being on Summer Glau was.... magnificent. I would shake Whedons hand to thank him for bringing her and Eliza Dushku to my attention as a young teen.

Sorry got distracted, anyway really loving Killjoys so I’m determined to not let that happen, although the 4 th season started the other day and I see it’s been renewed for a 5th already.

I adored her as well, she was ridiculously attractive in her particular way in that Sarah Connor Chronicles spin off that was canned. A little sad that TV show is probably the best Terminator material since T2:lol:

Whedon and his casting team had an amazing talent for picking beautiful girls and women for his work in that time( who shockingly were also pretty decent at the acting gig). My teenage self was in awe. Gellar, Carprenter, Duzku, Julie Benz, Trachtenberg, Glau, Baccarin, Staite, Hendricks, Acker etc, just a ridiculous level of beauty even by TV/Movie standards.

5 episodes into Money Heist on Netflix.

The acting is awful but the show is entertaining thus far, I’d recommend it.

Are you watching it dubbed or in Spanish (with subtitles)?

I'm noticing that people that watch shows that are dubbed into their language (instead of watching in the original language with subtitles) pretty much always rate the acting far lower than people that watch a program in the original language with subtitles.

Personally I will never watch anything dubbed. As an aficionado of Chinese and Korean shows I always watch in original language and subtitles.

Anybody watch Final Space?

T'is aight. Enjoyable. Not as good and deep as Rick and Morty though.

I really enjoyed Final Space, it's got a great balance of humour and engaging story.

I probably preferred the first season of R&M to it, but definitely not the most recent one. Each to their own I guess.

Just caught up with Sneaky Pete. Quite an entertaining show! If you like these con artists films/heists I'd recommend it.

Next up is Vikings.

I have never understood how anyone could watch something that has been dubbed, it ruins the whole experience!

Just completed the Southland, great cop series

Now started the shield initial 1st season is okish

Finished watching Barry. A weird, complicated but fun show. Bill Hader plays the awkward role perfectly.

Vikings is awesome. One of the best shows on tv right now. I've watched the first two episodes of Sneaky Pete. Need to get back to it eventually

Thinking about watching Vikings. How is it compared to other shows set in the ancient/medieval times like GoT, Spartacus, Rome, etc?

Fargo. 10 episodes of 1 hour per season. 3 seasons.
Bron/Broen. 4 seasons. 50 min per episode 8-10 episodes per season.
I liked Elementary and Sherlock.
Atypical. Freaks and geeks was great for an old show.

For me its on a similar level to those shows in terms of production values and set design .GoT is just a step above due to its bigger budget but but I think you'll find the visuals and sets impressive, especially in ensuing seasons. I enjoy the show as much as I enjoyed Spartacus and GoT and definitely more than Rome. One thing I feel Vikings has on the other shows is character development. The writers take an interesting approach to spirituality. I think you'll enjoy it.

Only watched 3 episodes of Mindhunter but it tells you everything about TV's renaissance that the medium can attract a director of David Fincher's quality. Stylistically it's a lot like Zodiac, with an intro lifted straight from Seven. It's riveting and really quite brilliant.

Cheers mate. Will watch it this weekend.

I've said it before but if you haven't seen Breaking Bad watch it immediately. It's the best TV series of all time.

I watched all of the latest season over the weekend, l liked it but it's weakest season so far.

I feel that the series is treading on water.

I just finished episode 1- I'm not surprised you've said that tbh. That episode felt quite weak in comparison to others, I really enjoyed last season. What's been your favourite season so far?

The Sinner - Season 1 was very good IMO, the way they unraveled the story and the way the whole dual time-line thing was handled was fantastic.
Its back for season 2 and it looks even darker.
Would recommend watching this if you like murder mysteries.

Thanks for this. That show popped up on my Netflix and I was wondering if it was worth a watch. I need to finish 4Blocks first and then I'll check on that one

I'm having TV show withdrawals at the moment, all the classics I've watched. Sopranos, Wire, BB, Spartacus etc are done. Then there's all the ones I'm up to speed with that just aren't around right now it's so boring.. GOT, TWD, FTWD, Vikings, BCS, Homeland, Fargo, Stranger Things, Narcos, Peaky Blinders.. none are returning anytime soon.

I keep getting told to watch 'Power' I've watched two episodes so far. Is it worth sticking with? Then there's Prison Break and Lost, two of the oldies I need to revisit that I stopped watching a few episodes in.
