Television Anyone recommend me any TV Shows?

I started watching Frontier.. mainly because my wife has a massive thing for Jason Mamoa and I thought it might earn me some Brownie points.

2 episodes in and I cant make my mind up. Anyone give me steer if its worth watching the rest?

So is The Handmaid's Tale actually good? A post Trump tv adaptation of the sporadically brilliant - yet at times irritatingly on the nose novel, that the graun won't shut up about, certainly has all the potential to be the best Liberal-catharsis wankathon of the year. But is the writing any good or is it Hillary Clinton in her own words on every level?

It's good, a bit overrated. I haven't read the book myself but I know some who have, any absolutely hated it, who really like the show.

Can't believe you waited this long to watch this. McConaughey is great in it indeed. One of my favourite tv shows ever.

Season 2 is supposed to be a big turd though.

aye, just avoid season 2. such a let down (but was always going to be seeing season 1 was so good basically because of mcconaughey and harrelson)

This is about porn correct? So basically a TV show version of Boogie Nights?
It's a long time since I watched Boogie Nights but I remember it to be a bit goofy. The Deuce is quite gritty and serious though so far.

Funny Boogie Nights story. My (now wife) and I rented it on VHS. Prepped for a night in, popped popcorn, the hole bit. Popped the tape in a pressed play. The last person to rent it purposely left it on the last scene. My girl looked at me and said, "I fecking told you I wasn't watching porn tonight", then left the room.

Broad City is 2 episodes into the new season so as good as time as any to recommend it again.

Anyone watching Hand of God on Amazon Prime? Stars Ron Perlman as a corrupt judge who thinks God is talking to him, through his comatose son. The voice is supposedly helping him solve a conspiracy surrounding his son's (attempted) suicide. It's very dark but really engaging.

Really enjoyed Atlanta, Lakeith Stanfield is the man. Feel bad for saying it but I felt Donald Glover was the weakest overall. It felt like he was playing his own insecure self which is why I feel bad, but he was surrounded by a great cast. What did people think about
episode 7, B.A.N.? Had some good funny moments (white/black guy calling to the feds) but I wasn't mad on Montague. Still taking it all in to be honest

Liar, on ITV, is pretty good.

Netlfix are advertising Neo Yokio. An anime series starring Jaden Smith, Jude Law, Susan Sarandon and Steve Buscemi.

Yes, an anime.

It looks atrocious.

Can anyone provide an opinion on big little lies? It looks shite but I'm getting roped into watching it.

Started watching American Vandal. Pretty decent series about a not so serious suject

Just finished season two of The Office (US), can't believe I put it off for so long. So, so brilliant.

It's consistently brilliant all the way through mate. It loses its charm a little bit during the last two seasons but is still excellent.

Good stuff mate, it's cracking. I disagree with Gareth though, it goes pretty terrible in comparison in the last 2 seasons but as it's a comedy and you are invested then it's still an easy enough watch.

There's a new documentary series out about the Vietnam war by PBS. Apparently it's very good and detailed. I might watch it later, the Vietnam war has always fascinated me.

Seasons 2-5 (maybe even 6) are top top TV, really brilliant. The right mix of laugh out loud comedy and sentimentalism. It tails off pretty drastically after that, but I thought it kinda reignited its spark in the second half of the last season, giving it a good send off. Even the weaker seasons are watchable though.

Just alright? As in my time would be better spent watching something else? It's HBO, so I think my judgements are probably best reserved until I've seen the first ep.
Definitely. I mean, that is probably true in most instances. lll always give HBO shows a fair crack because they rarely let me down.

For whatever the opinions of some random stranger on the internet are worth, I enjoyed it - but it isnt up there with HBOs best work.

Ha, cheers man I'll try it out.

For those of you who haven't seen it, try The Americans. It's absolutely gripping especially from Season 2 onwards and the acting, especially by Matthew Rhys is top notch( he was nominated for the Emmy's for best actor). It's a really underrated show but one of the best TV series currently going on.

I'll second this. The Americans doesn't get nearly enough attention.

Just watched the first 3 episodes, excellent so far. Very balanced as it contains interviews with a lot of people from North Vietnam including the army and civilians who were around at the time. It starts off with some background on the French colonial days in Indochina and only really gets to the start of US troops being deployed to Vietnam in episode 3. I have seen a fair few documentaries on this subject over the years, but never one which is so objective and in-depth with contributions from people from political, military and civilian viewpoints on all sides. Already I have heard a great deal of things in this series which are totally new to me, especially in terms of the situation on South Vietnam and their government, social problems etc.both before and around the time of the war beginning. There is a lot of background information also on JFK's and Lyndon Johnson's struggles with how to approach the "South east Asia problem" it's very insightful.
Would recommend this to anyone with interest in this subject. Superb. I did some of this part of O level/Higher Modern Studies at school - long time ago ! - and am always interested in books and documentaries on the subject.

Ahh Montague was brilliant. Love this scene

The bit with the police  I more meant the scenes with Montague himself, alongside Paper Boi and that woman. I think I was just so invested in the story and Val for instance that the episode was sort of jarring in that it (obviously) completely took you out of it. Definitely needs watching again I reckon. Has Donald Glover said anything about the ep?

Don't know if he's said anything about it. But I loved the episode because it's nothing like you'd ever get on another TV show. It was just a combination of skits they'd obviously been thinking of and decided to just dedicate a whole episode to it, and it worked imo. I watched the full season in one go, but I see where you're coming from in that it takes you away from the main story and must have been frustrating when it was first released having to wait another week to get back on track.

I really hope they make a second season. Loved his stuff since Derrickcomedy on YouTube years and years ago
