Television Anyone recommend me any TV Shows?

Yeah feck, is Justified any good? I started that, watched about 4 eps, and it just seemed rather pointless... The (relatively) episodic structure didn't really do it for me - is there an overarching plot that comes through eventually?

Yes there is

Each season kind of has it's own arc/antagonist, and there are some that last the entire series.

The Sopranos, The Wire, and Mad Men are on another level to anything else.

Anyone who doesn't agree should be taken outside, shot in the face and then fed to the dogs, and if they miss part of the face they should be shot again for good measure.

Mad Men was boring tbh. Watched the first 2 seasons and basically nothing happened so not sure on what basis that makes it one of the best shows of all time.

It's brilliant! While you're entitled to your opinion, I imagine you'd be in the minority with the opinion that it's boring.

I second the advice on the previous pages about Gomorra. If anyone is a sucker for mob shows with lots of violence like me you'll certainly enjoy it.

As a long time Wire fan , I just started this show (halfway into episode 1) and its already intriguing to me so cheers!

The Leftovers Season 2.
Slow start , up to EP 6 and It is a lot better then season 1.
Oh you're in for a treat, you have International Assassin coming up

Quality of character development and writing, complexity and cleverness of the themes it talked about, formally one of the best looking shows around. It's up there with the very very best (it's actually my favourite show I'd say, in front of The Wire).

I'm with him. Bored the crap out of me and hated almost every character. Quickly stopped watching.

I also didn't like the way it glorified sexism, racism and the like. It didn't just show what it was like at the time it was set, it made heroes of those who behaved this way.

So I'm guessing pretty much everyone has watched.
The Wire
Breaking bad
Boardwalk empire
Sopranos
Dexter
The West Wing
GoT
TWD
Etc

Dekalog should be on your list next.
It's actually a Polish mini series and currently rated at 9.1 on IMDB.

I recently started watching Curb your enthusiasm for the first time. Damn, it's basically on par with Seinfield for me.

If you like those two, you'll enjoy The Larry Sanders Show (which ran concurrently with Seinfeld - in fact Jerry has often said they preferred the late, great Garry Shandling's opus to his own genius sitcom).
Will have to have a look, however it joins an ever-growing list of shows that also deserve a watch, so will be hard to find time to fit them all in!

I'm on season 2 of Peaky Blinders atm. Really enjoying it.
Not sure how good the main character's brummie accent is, but to me it sounds good.
Not bad for a fella from Cork City.

The subplots don't converge as neatly as Seinfeld and there's a few too many cameos, but it's still up there with the best. It doesn't really pick up until Leon is introduced, his scenes with Larry are fecking brilliant.

I agree, Seinfeld is still a bit better. I like that Curb is a few minutes longer, so each episode arc gets to develop a bit more. Although you can usually see where it's going after the first few minutes.

I have a few laugh out loud moments in basically every episode. I'm only starting season 3 mind

I'd recommend the anime to anyone.

So I've just binge watched The Wire and while it was very, very good and some of the characters were absolutely amazing I didn't think it was "by far the bestest ever" as many seem to think.. Don't get me wrong, I really liked it but it just didn't blow me away like I hoped it would. Maybe my expectations were too high.

Still, onwards and upwards. Now I just got to figure out what to start with next.

The Wire. Again.

What kind of stuff do you like?

Horror - The Exorcist (genuinely some of the best horror ever made)
Mindless action fun - Banshee
Drama - OZ (prison series, great first three seasons)
Superhero stuff - Gotham (dark and proper cartoonish superhero show, much better than the tweeny crap that is Arrow and Flash)
Scifi - 12 monkeys (some of the best written scifi ever)
Scifi2 - The Expanse (big production type stuff, sort of like BSG)
Comedy - Arrested Development

Gomorra (Italian TV series). Absolutely amazing and similiar to the Wire.

As other said, the wire again so you can re-evaluate your opinion. Also you'll be over the shock of season 2 and can properly appreciate it.
